I couldn’t resist. I picked up two more of the fab Melt Gel Liners during last week’s flash in the pan sale to go along with gorgeous gold Estrella that I reviewed recently and that’s still on sale for $8 along with the gorgeous peacock green Colibri.
Melt Gel Liners, if you recall, are super creamy, a little thicker than a mousse consistency. As a result, they glide on with a slant brush or an eyeliner brush like a breeze. They give you 30 seconds or so (I haven’t timed it) if you need to correct a mistake before they set. They wear like iron.
Though I don’t use them as eyeshadow, they can be used as eyeshadow especially if you are doing a single shade on your lid.
OK Boomer
You may know that silver is my jam. Silvers and grays make my blue-gray eyes look a little bluer.
Melt’s Gel Liner OK Boomer (I hate that name) is a bright, almost white, metallic silver that helps brighten eyes.
Like golden Estrella, I found this creamy liner to be easy to apply with a slant brush. It dries in about a minute, and it stayed on for hours till I removed it with micellar water. It’s a keeper! So far, I have worn it with a matte taupe cream shadow and also with a deeper gray shimmer. I like both looks, but I think it stood out more with the matte taupe. Yet, it did add brightness to my eyes on the gray shimmer.
Slate
I had a somewhat difficult time choosing the second liner, going back and forth between the blues and the greens. But I finally settled on Slate, an ultra matte navy blue.
Because it’s such a deep shade, Slate gave me more trouble in the application process. I applied it with my slant brush like I did the two metallics. With my left eye that is more of a distance eye, I had a difficult time seeing my right eye lid as I stroked on Slate. Turns out my brush overshot the mark a couple of times, getting blue liner on my lower lash line as I tried to apply it to the upper inner eyelid. And a little ended up outside the outer corner as well. My bad. It was a bit of a mess to clean up, but I managed with a Q-tip dipped in micellar water. Next time, I will be sure to use my illuminated, magnifying Riki Loves Riki mirror (reviewed here).
I didn’t have any trouble applying it to my left eye because my right eye that I saw from is more of a closeup eye.
The blue color is nice. It can vary from navy to more of a teal blue. I will practice more with this one. I would like it to be an everyday liner option for me.
Pricing Etc.
Melt’s quickie sales seem to be over. I was glad that I picked up these two during their birthday sale. Now, the vast majority of Melt Gel Liners (except those being discontinued) are back to $22 pricing.
Also unfortunately, Melt has also gone back to their “free shipping over $75” rule. Ugh. I definitely lucked out with my last two purchases: discount plus free shipping.
Have you tried Melt Gel Liners yet?

These are gorgeous, and I am tempted by OK Boomer from the name alone! Beautiful review and swatches, Allison!

That’s so funny. I hate the name OK Boomer and bought it in spite of that, lol
I agree. “Boomer” is a slur. Not as bad as some slurs, obviously, but enough to make me conclude this brand is not for me.
I wanted to buy but I gave up early because it didn’t show the discount for me. The silver looks really good on you.
I’m so sorry that Melt didn’t say that it was a one-day sale. But thank you!
