Several years ago, the light went on for me that I must wear sunscreen all year round. Most of the time, I use a moisturizer with SPF, but sometimes the whitish cast that moisturizer with sunscreen leaves as well as the heavier feel puts me off.
Fortunately, I had the opportunity through Brandbacker, the blogger-brand association, to try out Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 PA++++ (BTW, PA++++ is the highest level of UVA protection). I’ve reviewed a number of skincare products from Exuviance, and I’ve had good experiences with all of them, so I was eager to try this new sunscreen. The fact that it is an SPF 50 sunscreen made me very eager to try it. Because the snow finally arrived a few weeks ago, the brightness when I’m outdoors is amazing. I really need to protect my face from the sun bouncing off the snow!
I already had two lightweight sunscreens with high SPF that I like, but Exuviance has a leg up on those two for two reasons:
- Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector SPF 50 is a weightless moisturizer with sunscreen
- It is formulated with physical, rather than chemical, sunscreen. If I have a choice, I definitely prefer a physical sunscreen. The active sunscreen ingredients in Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector are Titanium Dioxide 7.5%, Zinc Oxide 6%.
First, the directions say to shake the bottle vigorously for at least 15 seconds to combine the ingredients. Did that. Next, I squeezed some of the Sheer Daily Protector out, and I was surprised that it’s flesh-tone rather than white. Yay, no whitish cast! And it helped make my skin tone look a little more uniform.
Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector is amazingly lightweight though it has a slippery, substantial feel to it. It doesn’t feel like water. I applied it, and it disappeared completely into my skin, providing a little bit coverage as I mentioned, while hydrating my skin. It also made my skin feel incredibly smooth. In fact, the sunscreen is so smoothing, I think it can act as a primer.
Here’s what Exuviance says on the packaging about the Sheer Daily Protector and its “Triple Antiaging Protection”:
- Sheer mineral UVA/UVB protection enhances natural skin tone
- Multi-antioxidants help neutralize environmental damage
- Green Tea Extract helps protect cell DNA.
It also contains two forms of vitamin E.
I’m very impressed with Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector SPF 50, and I recommend it. I’ll be wearing this a lot now and during the summer.
Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector is fragrance-free, paraben-free, oil-free, non-acnegenic, and non-comedogenic. It is not tested on animals. Made in the U.S. Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector comes in a plastic bottle, and it contains 50ml/1.7 oz. Although it’s a relatively small bottle, I need to use so little, it will last me a long time. Price $42. It can be purchased at Ulta Beauty, Lovelyskin.com, Skin1.com, and on the website NeoStrata.com where Exuviance is currently 20% off.
Disclaimer: I received this product via Brandbacker to try out for review. Nevertheless, my opinions on this and all the products I review are honest.

And skin1.com has 25% off Exuviance!
I love that there is a tint! The whitish cast ALWAYS looks my face look metallic – it’s great to come across something that won’t make me look like stainless steel.

Yes, it allows me to wear my moisturizers that don’t have spf and it works as a primer too. Love it
This sounds so perfect! I love that it’s a higher spf too.
I’ve been wearing it a lot. Perfect to wear with moisturizers w/o spf and as a primer
Well, this is really interesting. It comes out looking like a tinted moisturizer. But it gives no color coverage? I can’tt figure how that works.
It gives my skin a slight evening of tone rather than color because it’s sheer.
This sounds like a great sunscreen!
