Project Pan: Beauty Empties from September 2021

I began September with 81 empties so far in 2021. Let’s see what I used up in September.

I Bought This, PR Samples, Affiliate Links

Bath & Body

Typology Ten Ingredient Hydrating Body Creme: I loved this fragrance-free hydrating body cream made with fewer than 10 ingredients. The old school silver tube was also cool. Repurchase? I definitely will buy a tube of this when I finish up my bottles of glycolic acid and Nopal facial oil.

Ravish Beach Please! Coconut and Sea Salt Bar Soap: After not “getting” this soap initially, I became a real fan. Beach, Please! is still the most beautiful bar soap I have ever used. Cutting it in half and “getting it going”, it lathers up just fine. Repurchase? I already did. But it is still on sale for $4 a bar, and I think I may another one or two before it’s sold out and gone for the season.

Hint Pineapple Sunscreen Spray SPF 30: Oh, I loved this pineapple-scented sunscreen. It smelled so authentically pineapple-y. I bought 3 cans of it from Target either last year or the year before, and I have loved every spray. Repurchase? If I don’t have one more can left, I will buy more next spring. It’s a keeper! PS They changed the colors on the can, but it’s the same stuff: oxybenzone-free and reef-safe.

Secret Outlast Anti-perspirant: Although I use a natural deodorant from Crystal most days, I always have a traditional anti-perspirant around for stressful days and Secret is usually the brand I go for. Outlast definitely keeps working all day. Repurchase? I have been using travel size Secret, and not sure if its Outlast. But Outlast is still their best one.

City Beauty Body Sculpt Firming Complex: Gee, was I sad to see that I had come to the end of this bottle of body serum! It worked very well for me to improve the appearance of my dry skin. It was definitely firming. Repurchase? I had planned to buy another bottle during the sale last week, but when my car died and had to be replaced immediately, I suddenly realized I have to pull in my belt. I will buy another bottle some day.

Beauty Tools

Sonia Kashuk for Target Makeup Brushes: This set of Sonia Kashuk for Target brushes is the first set of makeup brushes I ever bought. By now they must be about 8 years old, and they’re kind of beat. I have many better quality brushes now, so it’s time to say good bye to these. Repurchase? Sonia Kashuk still makes brushes for Target though not a new set every few months like when she had a different relationship with Target. However, I just bought a number of eyeshadow brushes on sale from Sigma and they look terrific.

Swisspers Premium Cotton Rounds: I think this is the last sleeve of either 6 or 8 from the 900 count box of Swisspers Cotton Rounds that I bought at Costco a couple of years ago. Because I use Koh Gen Do organic cotton pads to remove my makeup these days, I don’t use Swisspers as much – mostly to apply toner or essence and to remove nail polish. Repurchase? Yes, I will buy another box at Costco.

Connoisseurs Silver Jewelry Cleaner: I didn’t realize that jewelry cleaner doesn’t last forever, lol. I guess I think that about everything including my car that died last week. Connoisseurs sent me this jar to try out at least 5 years ago. I used it on my sterling silver watch band, and I was surprised that it wasn’t removing the tarnish as well as it did in the past. Then I noticed on the new jar that I bought, it said it should be replaced every year. Repurchase? Yes, I did.

Cosmetic Silk Sea Sponge: I love these soft, silky natural sponges for washing my face. I’ve been using this little one for a couple of months. I probably could use it longer, but it seems a bit worn out. Repurchase? I had one more left in the bag.

Makeup

Milk Makeup Kush Mascara, travel size: I bought this about a year ago after getting an even smaller version in my Sephora 2020 birthday gift. I love this volumizing mascara even though the formula and the big wand are the polar opposite of the lengthening mascaras I’ve been using for the last several years. Repurchase? I bought another travel size a while ago that waiting in the wings. BTW, Milk Makeup is now sold at Kohl’s so Sephora is no longer the only option. I wonder if you can use Kohl coupons on makeup purchases?

Skincare

City Beauty Lid Lifting Treatment: This is truly a special product for me. This spackle-like rich cream firms the skin at and above my crease very well. Because it’s so pricey, I use it only on that area and sometimes on my crow’s feet. I use a less expensive hydrating eye cream on my dry eyelid and under eye area. Repurchase? Yes, I did. I have two tubes waiting in my stash.

City Beauty Multi-Action Sculpting Cream: I discovered this firming sculpting cream either last year or the year before and it’s a staple in my skincare stash for firming the skin along my jawline. I also use it on my “marionette” lines. I just love it! Repurchase? Yes, I did and have a couple of jars in my stash.

P.S. If you ever want to buy something from City Beauty and they are not having a specific sale on the product(s) you want to buy, you can always get 15% off (which is at least something) by using my code NEVERSAYDIEBEAUTY when you check out!

Replenix Anti-Aging Age Restore Nighttime Therapy: Replenix is a dermatologist-created brand made with medical grade ingredients that I think came out in the 1990s. I just discovered it when the company that owns Derma E bought the brand, and sent me a couple of Replenix products to try. I absolutely loved Replenix Age Restore Nighttime Therapy and was so sad to come to the bottom of the jar. It’s a fragrance-free, rich gel-cream that is extremely hydrating but not heavy. It was perfect for me. Repurchase? I would love to buy another jar of Replenix Age Restore (it’s 25% off at Skinstore.com), but I had bought a huge size Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream just before I got this so I must must must use up the lovely Tatcha first (Dewy Skin Cream comes in a more affordable travel size if you want to try it out before sinking a ton of $ into it).

Please ignore the Dr. Few CBD Effusive Soothing Skin Mist in the photos. I used it up in August, but I was saving the bottle because it’s the best and finest spray mist I have ever owned. I was planning to put toner in the bottle, but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. I forgot that I reviewed it last month, so it doesn’t count this month.

I had thought I used up more than 13 products in September, probably because the bottles and jars are so big and take up so much room! But every bit helps. I’m now at 94 empties in 2021. Wonder if I’ll make my goal of 125 empties since I have 31 to go? With 3 months to go till the end of the year, maybe I will if I try really hard. We’ll see.

Oh, and I am tossing an old small jar of Estee Lauder Daywear Moisturizer SPF 15 that I got as a gift with purchase, I think. I used to love Estee Lauder products, but SPF 15 is not high enough for me now. And I can no longer tolerate the strong floral scent.

How about you? Anything you finished up that you loved?

I’ve been inspired by you to get through products and empty my own shelves a bit.

    1. I’m so glad to have inspired you, lol. It’s good to use some things up to make room for more!
