The summer is going by way too fast, and of course, it’s pouring rain again today. Perfect day to update you on my June beauty empties.
June was a decent month for me in terms of using up beauty products. I used up 10 empties and 4 samples. And I already have a few empties for July, at this point!
Skincare
- TonyMoly Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Essence: This must be at least the fourth bottle of Tony Moly Green Tea Essence that I’ve used up. It feels like a gentle, lightweight serum. I love it, and I will buy another soon. Recommendation: If you’re looking for an affordable essence, this one is a winner!
- First Aid Beauty Gentle Foaming Face Cleanser: I really love this discontinued facial cleanser from FAB. A while ago, I bought another bottle of it that I found online. I’m sad that it’s no longer available. While the iconic FAB cream cleanser in the tube is very good, I like this one even better.
- The Organic Pharmacy Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream (travel size): I carried this gentle rose face cream in my purse makeup bag for ages. It was hydrating and left my skin looking glowing and feel good. Recommendation: If I didn’t have a million face creams, I would buy this organic cream.
- Clarins Multi-Intensive Nuit Super Restorative Night Cream, sample packet: I enjoyed using this very rich night cream from Clarins. I think it would be great for the winter especially. Sorry, I can’t remember if it has a scent.
- Tatcha The Camellia Cleansing Oil, sample packet: Unfortunately, this thick cleansing oil irritated my eyes so I couldn’t really use it as a makeup remover as well as facial cleanser. I wouldn’t buy it.
- Tatcha The Essence, sample packet: Tatcha’s Essence was a lightweight, water essence with a light floral fragrance. While it was very nice, it was too expensive to buy it instead of my Tony Moly Essence.
- Tatcha The Silk Cream, sample packet: I really, really loved this sample of the Silk Cream. The gel-cream was perfect for me for summer use. I wish it wasn’t so darn expensive because I would love it now!
Fragrance
- Atelier Des Ors Iris Fauve: Everything about this powdery, spicy, yet light scent is divine: the heavy carved glass spray bottle, the gold flakes in the pale gold liquid, and the fragrance itself that though perfect year round is particularly great for spring and summer. I bought Iris Fauve about 2 or was it 3 years ago, and I feel it lasted a good while. I bought another bottle ’cause I got an even better price on it on Fragrancenet.com. Recommendation: Yes!
- Francesca Bianchi Under My Skin: Another one of my favorite scents, I discovered Under My Skin in one of the fragrance groups I belong to on Facebook. This is a spicy, warm, long-wearing, projecting scent. I love it. I just discovered that Fragrancenet.com has this indie brand at a significant savings. Recommendation: If you like gender-neutral oriental scents, this is fabulous.
Hair
I’m sure you know that I love both of these hair products and I’ve been buying them for a long time.
- Vegamour GRO Hair Serum: I’ve been using Vegamour GRO Hair Serum for more than a year and a half. Enough said. And Vegamour is having a 20% off sale now. Recommendation: Yes, I do.
- JOICO K-PAK COLOR THERAPY LUSTER LOCK Treatment: Although it’s is so humid here, you can wring out the air, and as a result, my hair looks awful, I love this treatment product that I use as a conditioner. It’s good for coarse hair like mine. Recommendation: Great for thick, color-treated hair.
Nails
The Olive and June love fest continues for me.
- Olive and June Nail Strengthener: I haven’t found anything that strengthens my nails like O&J Nail Strengthener. I also love the wide brush and the way that the strengthener sinks into my nails so it’s imperceptible. Recommendation: Buy this!
- Olive and June Polish Remover: For all but polishes with sparkles or other bits, the polish comes off in a flash. I like the foam liner that I just twirl my finger in. Recommendation: If you’re buying other things from O&J, get the remover as well.
Health & Beauty
- Earthly Body CBD Daily Original Intensive Cream, 1.7 oz., with 60 mg hemp extract: After tripping on the bump in the street in Boston that separated the bike lane from the cars and then falling over in quicksand in the creek at the beach, I have several bruises and sore knee and hip bones. So I easily used up my CBD Daily Original Intensive Cream. This cream took the edge off the pain and helped me sleep. However, I noticed on the Earthly Body website that they have introduced new versions of CBD Daily Intensive Cream with either 175 mg or 600 mg of hemp extract. I will definitely try the 600 mg version (100x more hemp extract!) instead to see if it is more effective for me. It comes in a few different scents: Classic Mint, Lavender, Grapefruit Mint, and Sandalwood. Recommendation: If you’re interested in trying CBD for pain relief, I suggest trying one of the higher amount of hemp.
Project Pan Update
At the end of May, my yearly total stood at 54 empties. In June, I used up 10 beauty products (not counting the samples). At the end of a half year, I stand at 64 beauty empties. If I can keep up this rate, I should reach my goal of 125 empties. Fingers crossed!
I love opening these posts to see so many empties. You’ve got some winners for sure.
Thank you, Marcia!
Hi, Allison – Sounds like you mostly enjoyed the luxury of your cosmetics over the last month and more, with only a few products not being worth getting again. I’m glad you’ve been blessed with pampering yourself after your hospitalization. Loved hearing about worthwhile beauty products to consider buying! – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
