Project Pan: December 2022 Update

In 2022, I exceeded my expectations by meeting my yearly goal at the end of October, I think it was. My goal was 125 empties, and I am well beyond that. Because so many of us have resumed our normal activities after mostly staying home after two years, I got to use up more beauty products.

So let’s take a look at my empties for December 2022. This month, there were no big categories that won really. Just a hodge podge of beauty products representing lots of cosmetic categories.

Skincare

Luma & Leaf Hydraglow Cleansing Gel: I liked clean beauty Luma & Leaf’s Hydraglow Cleansing Gel with a lightly fragrant citrus scent. The chemical exfoliator in the product worked under the radar to remove dead skin cells. It had a slight foaming action. It’s a very nice cleanser with Hyaluronic Acid and AHAs. Repurchase? Not yet. I have another bottle waiting in the wings till spring when I like to go back to gel cleansers.

Pixi Rose Tonic: Pixi Rose Tonic is an old favorite. It is lightly rose scented, and smells very nice on the cotton pad. The scent doesn’t linger on my skin at all. A gentle toner, it’s perfect to use twice a day. Repurchase? In the future, I’m sure I will. Right now, I am using Innisfree Green Tea Toner that I reviewed here last week. I also have a new-to-me rose toner from Australian brand Eclat to try out.

Promise Organic Argan Creme Facial Cream: In 2017, I received a number of skincare products from affordable, clean beauty Promise Organic to try out for review. I brought this ultra moisturizing cream to Jeff’s, so it took me a long time to use it up. It was a rich, winter-grade moisturizer with argan oil that I enjoyed using.  The brand is NSF Certified Organic and healthy rated by organizations that SkinSafe that monitor allergens in cosmetics. Promise Organic should be much more popular than it is. It used to be sold at CVS, but it’s been gone from that chain for at least a couple of years. Too bad. In fact, I don’t think it’s still being manufactured. Our loss.

100% Pure Hydra Drench Cream: I like this sample packet of Hydra Drench Cream from 100 % Pure so much more than the Black Tea Grass Jelly Antioxidant serum and liquid moisturizer I tried. Wish I had been sent a full size of this to try out instead.

Bath & Body

Molton Brown Delicious Rhubarb & Rose Shower Gel, travel size from Discovery Set: You know already that I love a lot of the Molton Brown shower gels. Their scents are unusual, and this one has a sharp rhubarb note. I love it!  Repurchase? No, not now because I want to finish up the shower gels I recently received from another brand, though MB remains my favorite. I recently gave away a few MB travel size shower gels whose fragrances were too masculine for me, Russian Leather, Black Pepper and Tobacco Absolute.

The Soap Tapestry, High Tide: Since my friend Daphne from Nature Island Botanicals stopped selling at the Waterfront Festival in Gloucester, I have started trying other bar soaps. A woman from New Hampshire who creates her goat milk and vegan soaps under the name, The Soap Tapestry, had a booth with very attractive soaps. One bar was the most accurate depiction of the beach I had ever seen. It even had exfoliating sand at the bottom so it looked like ocean and sand. I liked the soap a lot. It smelled ocean-y, lathered very well and left my skin feeling lightly moisturized. However, I ended up not being a fan of the exfoliating sand. Repurchase? Maybe. Looks like she changed the name of High Tide to White Sands. I might wait till next summer at the Waterfront Festival and try another of her soaps but without the sand! But when I finish up the other artisan bar soaps I have from a different company in Portsmouth NH, I may order from her website and drive to Manchester NH to pick up my order.

Makeup

Chella Beauty Good Drama Mascara, mini: My latest mascara heart throb for about the past year. I tend to buy the mini/travel size in black so I can use them up in 3 months, and that’s what I did with this one. Repurchase? I stockpiled several during a past sale.

Doll 10 T.C.E. Supremely Bold Lipstick, No Boundaries: I got a lovely, hydrating medium pink lipstick when I purchase a set from Doll 10 Beauty after reading a review by Cindy, a former blogger who I trust. Unfortunately, over time, the lipstick bullet more or less melted and though there’s still some left in the tube, it’s a mess to use. Repurchase? No, though I’m sad because I loved the shade and the formula. But for $24, it should melt and become unusable.

Health & Beauty

Just Brands CBD Gummies, 1000mg:  I love these CBD gummies and I take 2 every night before bed. Repurchase? Yes, I have a subscription.

Nails

Olive & June Super Glossy Top Coat: You know I love Olive & June polishes. Their Super Glossy Top Coat is probably my favorite topcoat of all time. Repurchase? Yes, I already did.

Fragrance

Ombre Mercure by Terry de Gunzburg, sample: The Facebook fragrance group I belong to recommended this powdery, violet scent. Repurchase? I liked it but not enough to buy a bottle, since I have so many perfumes now.

Project Pan December ’22 and Year End Update

I ended November with 139 empties. Then, I used up 9 products in December, not counting the sample packet from 100% Pure or the EDP sample from Terry de Gunzburg. As a result, I ended 2022 with a total of 148! I think that’s my highest yearly total since I started participating in Project Pan. Woohoo!

My Project Pan goal for 2023 is 135 empties, higher than last year’s goal. Though I should probably aim for 150, I think that may be a stretch for me though I came close this past year.

How about you? Did you user up anything you loved in December? Do you do your own version of Project Pan?

  2. What an accomplishment. I didn’t come close. I made a list of what I finished in December and there were at least 12 items on it but who knows where the list is? I remember 2 mascaras, MK eye makeup remover, a moisturizer, a serum that was too old so I had to toss it and it’s discontinued from IT Cosmetics, and several more but I rarely finish up as much as I did in December.
