Project Pan: May 2022 Beauty Empties

May was a good month for me in terms of using up beauty products, better than April. Yipee!

Quick Recap

Even though April was a slower month than some others, I ended April with 55 empties so far in 2022.

May Empties

May was much more like the earlier months in 2022 than April, and that’s a good thing. Here’s what I used up.

Skincare

Pixi by Petra Hydrating Milky Serum: It was a surprise to me how much I enjoyed Pixi Hydrating Milky Serum. I got it in an Ipsy Plus bag months ago, and I wasn’t overly excited when it was chosen for me. But it turned out to be a fantastic hydrator. It’s a milky lotion that dries quickly and instantly makes my dry skin feel better. It contains jojoba oil, aloe vera and rose extract, but it’s not oily or greasy at all. Repurchase? I need to make some progress on finishing up some other serums, but after that I will buy another bottle. Good stuff!!

Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Toner: I received the Anti-Wrinkle Toner with vitamin A and glycolic acid along with other products in the collection. I don’t know why I didn’t use them all at the same time to maximize the results! But anyway, this was maybe my favorite toner yet from Derma E. I used it at night after cleansing and before serum for an added vitamin A/GA boost. Repurchase? I wanted to buy another bottle, but it is no longer listed on the Derma E website. They tend to swap out products and occasionally bring them back in the future. Hope this one is brought back soon. Nevertheless, I have found it available elsewhere. I plan to pick up a bottle.

Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream, (LE Gratitude size, 75 ml): Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream is another beauty product that I was introduced to via Ipsy. I got a travel size in one of my bags, and it was love at first use. This is a very hydrating moisturizer with a dewy finish that’s perfect for dry, mature skin. When Sephora had one of their seasonal sales on the Gratitude size decorated jar of The Dewy Skin Cream, I bought it. It took me a year or two to use it up, since I am often testing other moisturizers, but I finished it recently. Repurchase? Yes, I bought another of the largest jar during Sephora’s last sale. It’s also available on the Tatcha website, though not on sale right now.

First Aid Beauty Age Delay Dual Repair Eye Cream: As usual, I bought FAB Dual Repair Eye Cream some time ago, started using it, but had to switch over to test something else. Then I forgot about it. I rediscovered Dual Repair Eye Cream recently, and loved it. It was a medium weight gel and did a great job both hydrating and firming my eye area. Repurchase? It has been discontinued, of course.

First Aid Beauty Hydrating Eye Cream with Hyaluronic Acid, travel size: I bought this travel size FAB Hydrating Eye Cream on Ipsy.com a couple of months ago, thinking it was a travel size Dual Repair Eye Cream. It’s not, it is a different formula: a cream rather than a gel-cream. It was a nice eye cream rather similar to the CeraVe Eye Cream I am using now. Repurchase? I’m not sure that I like it $30 worth. I will probably stick to my CeraVe and City Beauty Lid Lifting combination.

Health & Beauty

VitEyes Blue Light Defender Gummies: I really liked these VitEyes Blue Light Defender Gummies because 1) they sparkle, and 2) they taste yummy. Repurchase? This was my third jar of the Blue Light Defender Gummies, but they are not cheap. I bought some blue light blocking reading glasses that I was supposed to wear instead. I wear the glasses when I use my phone, but I never remember to wear them when I’m on my desktop because I don’t need the “reading” function. The glasses are a much better value if I use them 😉

Rubber Ducky Original Spray – Dry, No-Ox SPF 50: I liked this no oxybenzone SPF 50 reef-friendly sunscreen spray. It ticked all the boxes for me. Repurchase? Unfortunately, it is listed as “Currently Unavailable” on Amazon, and it isn’t sold at any stores around here.

Secret Outlast Stick Deo/AP, travel size: I’ve been using these travel size Secret AP as a backup for when I need something stronger than my usual, everyday mineral deodorant. Repurchase? Yes, I already have.

wand with thin bristles for RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum, neversaydiebeauty.com

RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum: I always confuse the brand name of this terrific lash growth serum, thinking it’s Revitalash rather than RapidLash. But it is definitely RapidLash. I had this tube for a long time. I probably should have tossed it, but it didn’t smell and it still seemed to be working. Nevertheless, I shouldn’t have continued to use it for so long. Yet, I finally used it up! Repurchase? I had another tube in my stash. I really like this stuff. It works for me and doesn’t irritate my sensitive, dry eyes.

Bath & Body

Eucerin Advanced Repair Cream for Very Dry Skin: So far, this is the best drug store dry skin cream I have tried. The tube says that it lasts for 48 hours, and it pretty much can last that long for me (though I usually shower every day and reapply). It has ceramides in the formula that are known to strengthen the skin’s barrier to keep moisture in. It is fragrance-free, non-greasy, and easy to rub in. There’s no white that needs to be worked in. Although I have a lot of tubes of body lotion and butter, I reach for this one the most. The combination of unscented, long-lasting hydration, greaseless, strengthening my skin barrier, and affordability make it a winner for me. Repurchase? Yes, I bought another tube on Amazon.

Makeup

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, travel size: I used Hourglass Veil Primer for several years under foundation, and I liked it a lot. The glass vial was especially handy to take when I traveled. But Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer captured my heart, and I stopped using Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. I went to check it to take on our upcoming trip, but the small amount left in the almost empty vial had congealed. Repurchase? No. Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer works even better for my dry, mature skin (reviewed here).

Chella Good Drama Mascara: I really liked the full size, volumizing and lengthening water resistant mascara that I got in one of my more recent Ipsy bags. I liked the large wand, and there was no clumping or flaking. Repurchase? Yes, I just bought a mini Good Drama Mascara from Chella’s website. I like minis because they’re easier to use up in the 3 month window before they should be tossed.

City Beauty City Lips Clear: I never know whether to consider City Lips skincare or makeup, especially the Clear. Let’s call it makeup. I used up another one. I still love City Lips best for keeping my dry lips plumped and hydrated. Repurchase? I stockpile them when there’s a sale, so I have a few waiting in the wings.

Glo Skin Beauty HD Mineral Foundation Stick: I would say that Glo Skin Beauty’s Stick Foundation is my favorite foundation because it’s so quick to apply. Importantly, the coverage is perfect for me because it’s adjustable between medium and full coverage. So far, I have used up two of their shades Fawn 5C and Fresco 3N. Fawn 5C is the one I just finished up. Repurchase? I bought Fresco 3N, the slightly lighter of the two shades with neutral undertones, and right now, it seems just a bit too yellow for me. So I put it aside till I get a little summer color. During the Memorial weekend sales, I ordered another tube of Fawn 5C, a pinker shade. That’s the one reason I prefer buying foundation in person.

Fragrance

Sylvaine Delacourte Paris copper metal presentation box and purse spray, neversaydiebeauty.com

Sylvaine Delacourte Florentina EDP: Sylvaine Delacourte was the head fragrance creator at Guerlain Paris for years. Several years ago, she started her own brand. I tried a couple of her Discovery Sets, and Florentina, a soft powdery musk, was my favorite (reviewed here). I liked it so much a bought a set of three Florentina purse sprays that fit into a beautiful, heavy rose gold metal purse spray. The key notes are iris, violet, and almond. It’s a light, feminine, enveloping and totally delightful scent. My only caveat is that the lovely scent didn’t last very long on me. Repurchase? I have one more spray vial that I am already using. After I finish that one, it will be a difficult choice about whether to repurchase a scent that doesn’t last on me.

Project Pan Current Status 2022

I started May at 55 empties, and during the month, I finished up 15 beauty products. My total is now 70. Looking good so far in 2022 for making my goal of 125. Plus, I have a number of products that are almost finished that will be counted in June. Yay!

How about you? Did you finish up any products worthing of repurchase last month?

  4. Quite a good month. You are on a roll. I am with you on Revitalash (though I use Revitabrow) rather than Rapidlash. The price is better and it’s more effective.
