Project Pan: October ’23 Beauty Empties

I am so behind schedule! Although I am catching up starting with my October empties, I still have July, August and September empties waiting in the wings. Geez, how did I let that happen? Plus now that half of November has passed, I have more empties from this month already finished and ready to go. I’ve got to get caught up so I can either recycle or toss all those empties!

So I guess I will go backwards and forwards, starting with October.

Skincare

  • Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum: I received this full size Purlisse Eye Serum as an add-on purchase through Ipsy. Unexpectedly, I loved it. It’s a translucent white lightweight gel serum. It worked well as a firming serum that I used around my eyes. I checked on the price, regularly $48 for 0.5 fl. oz. Mercari is selling them for $19-20 much more reasonable, but I am sometimes wary when I purchase from them. I will wait a bit to decide, but I recommend Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum.
  • Hanalei Kona Peptide Hawaiian Eye Cream, travel size: About a year ago, I purchased 3 travel size tubes of Hanalei Kona Peptide Hawaiian Eye Cream to keep in the makeup bag in my purse. Now, I have gone through them all, and they’ve become a favorite. Lately, I really like eye creams and serums that come in tubes. This one is what used to be called “flesh tone” cream. It’s a slightly heavier weight than the Purlisse Eye Adore Serum. I used it for moisturizing and firming, but the caffeine-enhanced peptide cream addresses puffiness and wrinkles. I recommend it as well. If I see another deal on the travel tubes, I will get some more.
  • Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial, travel size: This was another travel size that I got from Ipsy. I’m a big fan of the Korres clean beauty brand, so I was keen to try it. Although I like rose scent, this was a little too strong for me. I kept it in my makeup bag to use as a moisturizer when I needed on throughout the day, especially after getting my hair done. I haven’t tried it as an overnight moisturizer, but it’s a good daytime moisturizer. Because of the scent, I don’t expect to buy a full size.

Bath & Body

  • Molton Brown Muddled Plum Bath & Shower Gel: I’ve been a fan of Molton Brown Muddled Plum for more than 5 years. Since it was a limited edition scent for the holidays, I stockpiled it while it was available. This year, Muddled Plum hasn’t been available. Luckily, I had another one waiting for me. I also have eau de toilette and body lotion. Nice.
  • Natural sea sponge: I bought a bag of natural sea sponges a few months ago, and this was one of them. I’ve been on to the next, and soon that one will be used up, too. I prefer sea sponges for washing my face more than face clothes. The link takes you to a 12 pack.
  • Lather Lavender Lime Soap: The Lather Lavender Lime olive oil soap contains essential fatty acids and antioxidants to ward off skin damage and to cleanse and soften the skin. It was a wonderful shower soap. I have so many natural soaps, but at some point, I will buy another.

Hair

  • It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product: I’ve been using It’s A 10 for several years, and the last time I bought a bottle, I bought the largest size. It lasted me forever. It’s A 10 is a multi-benefit leave-in product. I use it as a heat protectant and to help smooth and make my hair silky. It works. I have bought another bottle, much smaller this time.
  • Vegamour GRO Serum: In order to keep the hair that has been regrowing over the past almost two years, I will be using Vegamour GRO Serum into the future. It has worked for me.
  • DefenAge 150K Hair Follicle Serum: Because my hair follicles on the left side seem to have disappeared, I was very eager to try the new product from luxury, R&D oriented brand, DefenAge. This is the second bottle in the box of three. I am now using the third bottle. I plan to write a full review when I finish the third bottle. DefenAge 150K Hair Follicle Serum is very pricey, but right now, it’s BOGO50% off and less if you join their loyalty club.

Project Pan Update

During October, a month where we were away for two weeks, I still managed to use up 9 beauty products. Although July, August and September still haven’t been reviewed, I ended June with 64 empties for 2023. Adding 9 empties, brings my total to 73 empties.

Now, I’ve got to figure out which month all of those other empties are from! Wish me luck!

  1. I am impressed by your your October Empties, Allison The Molton Brown Muddled Plum sounds luscious, I hope that they bring it back! Wow, July, August, September and November empties waiting in the wings? That is overwhelming! Maybe just take a picture of the products from July, August and September, and just say you will focus on November, but here is what I used in the earlier months! Or just toss then in the recycle bin and skip the earlier months altogether! That’s just my two cents, but I would be too overwhelmed by that many months to spend the necessary time to do the empties post!

    1. Because I am doing the Project Pan exercise, I feel like I can’t give up on all those other empties, lol! I could just do them all together, but there are too many!! But if I can’t remember which month’s empties are which, I will just divide them up and do as many as I can stand reviewing at a time 😀

  2. I look forward to your Project Pan posts. I always get a vicarious thrill of the clean-out by looking at yours. I’ve been meaning to ask you about the Vegamour. Can it be used in conjunction with minoxidil? Have you tried minoxidil for hair regrowth? Thank you for your posts, Allison.

    1. Cynthia, I don’t know if it’s worth it to use Vegamour along with Minoxidil. Vegamour GRO Serum costs about $40 per bottle with a subscription, and since I only use it where my hair was receding, a bottle lasts me about 3 months. But If Minoxidil is working for you, I would stick with it on its own. I honestly don’t know if using them together would make a difference. You could try calling their customer service number and asking?? I haven’t tried Minoxidil because you have to use it twice a day (so I was told), and Vegamour is only once. I was told to use the DefenAge Hair Follicle Serum in addition to the Vegamour by the PR folks from DefenAge. Although I believe it has made a difference, the DefenAge is out of my price range. Thanks for the comment about my empties post! I need to catch up! Have you used up anything that you loved lately?

As you know I like reading your Project Pan posts. It’s so interesting to see what favorites you have. If things get bad with my hair I’d try Vegamour. My husband tried Minoxidil and it gave him a rash. Now he’s on Minoxidil pills because of health issues and he’s seeing some growth. At least he has one good side effect from everything he’s gone through.

    1. Wow, I didn’t know there were Minoxidil pills! I hope your husband (and you too) have both turned the corner over the past few months and are feeling better finally. xo

  4. Thank you for the reply, Allison. In honor of you, I recently used up a small bottle of Innisfree oil. My face is so reactive that I used it on my hands and arms. It worked into nicely and didn’t leave me feeling greasy, but my do-to oil is DHC olive oil, so I won’t buy it again. Looking forward to your next posts!

    1. The DHC Olive Oil is wonderful! I have a few sample packets from my last DHC purchase. Good to know about the Innifree oil. I have never tried it. I am using the Innisfree Green Tea Toner, right now.
