PUR Cameo Contour and Giveaway: 4 Winners

PUR Minerals has been on my radar for quite a while. Whenever I go to Ulta, I always check out the new makeup from PUR. In fact, I just bought the new PUR Eye Polish last week, so stay tuned for my review.

Recently, PUR generously sent me PUR Cameo Contour, a very cool double-ended contour stick with a blending sponge applicator, in all 5 shades in the product line. Wow! And such a lovely presentation!

Because Light is the combo for me and I can’t wear the other 4 shade sticks, I’m going to host a giveaway to 4 lucky winners. So stay tuned and check out the giveaway further into the post.

PUR Cameo Contour

I’m a fan of contour sticks. For me, they’re so much faster and easier to apply than powder, liquids or creams. And I love a double-ended stick because everything I need it right there.

What’s new about these highlighter/contour sticks from PUR is that they come with an angled blending sponge that you can use with this product or for anything you’d like to try. I usually use my fingers or brush to blend my highlighter/contour, but I did try the angled sponge. It’s cool, but there’s a bit of a learning curve with it, at least for me there was.

PUR has an extensive shade range for the Cameo Contour line:

  • light
  • medium
  • tan
  • dark
  • deep.

As I mentioned above, I chose Light. Here’s what it looks like including the swatches of the highlighter and contour.

If you’re super fair, the highlighter for “light” may be a tad too dark for you. But the shade range really does seem to accommodate those who skin ranges from light to deep. IMHO, the shades “dark” and “deep” are a bit similar.

Importantly, I found that the shades are more warm-toned shades than cool, and the contour for the “light” stick pulls a bit orange. I’d describe the shades as “golden”. I’m a cool-toned gal with pink undertones, so “light” wasn’t perfect for me but with my red hair it worked!

I love that PUR includes a pamphlet with a “how-to” diagram for highlighting and contouring for those of us who still need a little direction.

PUR contour and highlight guide neversaydiebeauty.com @redAllison

It was so useful in letting me know there are other places to contour and highlight in addition to my cheekbones and along my nose. I need to try the highlight and contour under the bottom lip next time.

Here’s a hideous photo of me with the contour and highlighting on my face before blending! Don’t judge.

And here’s the after. I think it’s a subtle look.

I found PUR Cameo Contour relatively easy to use. It’s a thick cream that blends quite easily. A little goes a long way. My only suggestion to PUR might be to make the stick a little narrower if they ever update the line.

I didn’t swatch the 4 sticks that I’m giving away because I want them to be pristine for the winners. Instead I took photos of the colors. I hope that will help you see the shade range.

Thank you for posting pictures of the product shades. I have not tried contouring yet and Pur sticks look like an easy way to start. I would have chosen tan but after viewing the photos I would go with medium.

    1. Thank you, Mary, for being the first to post! I think sticks are definitely the easiest way to contour & highlight. Medium is quite close to Light. Good luck 🙂

  2. Medium would be my first choice but I could work with Light too.

    1. “Light” is the shade I used on my face, Heather, so it’s not part of the giveaway. I can’t guarantee who will get what, if you win, but I’ll note it. It would make a nice gift to a darker skinned friend 😉 Thank you for entering and good luck!

  3. Maria J. says:

The reason I’d love to try this is because I have a round face and I always look forward to making it look slimmer with HAC. I personally think Medium would suit me the best because I’m fair, but like for my contour to be on point!?

    1. Maria, thank you for entering. This giveaway is a weird one because altho I have 4 sticks to give away, I used the Light myself and I have only one Medium and so far, that’s the one that everyone wants! The other shades would make nice gifts or treats for darker skinned friends!

      1. Maria J. says:

Yes, I suppose you’re right, if I do or don’t win I’d try to make the other colors work for me somehow!

        1. Thank you, Maria 🙂

  4. I can’t wait to try this, still waiting to be photographed ‘tho 🙂

  9. Julie L says:

    I’d need the Light shade!

    1. Julie, as I wrote in the post, “Light” is the one I used on my face so it’s not available. If you are chosen as a winner, you could always gift the shade you get to a friend!

      1. Julie L says:

Oh, duh! I am just not with it today!

        1. No worries, Julie!

  10. I tried these for the first time this weekend, and I agree – they need to be a little thinner. I like the blender, but I also need to use my hands and a brush to really even it out.

I find that Highlighting and Contouring have become very popular this year and I personally would love to gift this prize to my mom in the shade tan since she’s not that dark, but is noticeably a couple shades than me. She loves to get glam med up and what better gift than to look like you’ve lost 10 pounds!

    1. That’s such a great idea, Jamie! Thank you for entering and good luck!

  18. I was super excited to have received these too. I agree that PUR should consider making the sticks a little more narrow. Also, that was not a hideous photo of you (in the before), I thought it was cute and definitely no judgements here. I always love your posts so whatever you say goes!! xo

  20. I do like the concept but sounds like the formula still needs a little tweaks 🙂 Great review!

    1. Not only the formula but the size too. Nevertheless, they are still nice contouring sticks.

  21. I love the idea of these (even though I rarely contour…) They seem super handy though.

  22. I saw these the other day and I was wondering how well they worked. I love anything that pulls double duty.

    1. I think they’re very nice, Tiki. I just wish they were about 3/8 thinner and that there was a cool-tone option, but I like the double-ended, 2 for 1 aspect.

  23. Colleen Boudreau says:

These seem like they’d make contouring much easier! I want the shade medium.

    1. I think they do, Colleen! I can’t guarantee the shade preference, but I’ll note it 🙂

  24. I haven’t tried anything from PUR before, but I always hear such great things about the brand.

    1. The contour stick and the new Eye Polish are my first Pur products. So far so good 🙂

  25. This seems like a wonderful and easy thing to try! I would probably be the medium shade

    1. Pur Cameo Contour is convenient and easy to use. Thanks for entering, Sara!

    1. I think stick highlighters and contours are much easier to apply though they can be a bit more difficult to blend. I think that’s why Pur Minerals came up with their own blender. The stick is a bit wide so I use it on the edge of the top to get a narrower line. Thanks, Maria, for entering. I’m glad that Tan was one of your options. Good luck! And if you have any friends who have darker skin tone, please encourage them to enter. No one has asked for the Dark or Deep shades yet!

  30. Andrea Darst says:

I’ve wanted to contour properly but have trouble doing so…this makes it easy! I’d need the light shade!

    1. Andrea, as I mentioned in the post, I used the Light shade on my face to demonstrate it so it isn’t available. There is only Medium, Tan, Dark, and Deep. Sorry

  31. It’s very subtle and I love the convenience!

    1. I definitely go for a subtle look when highlighting, but I need more practice.
