Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk

Ipsy is a big fan of the brand Purlisse, and they often include Purlisse skincare products in their bags and boxes.

Purlisse is an American brand started by an Asian-American actress, Jennifer Yen, whose skin suffered under heavy stage and screen makeup. To bring her skin back to health, she used skincare tips and tricks from her Chinese grandmother. When she started the brand Purlisse, she leaned heavily on Asian skincare ideas, and she worked with Asian, French and American researchers to create the products. Purlisse has a variety of collections, each based on a key ingredient that address different skincare issues or skin types.

The extract of Blue lotus flower (Nymphea caerulea) is used in skincare is used as a natural moisturizer to improve the look and feel of dry or flakey skin. Suitable for all skin types, blue lotus flower extract also balances the oil in the skin to help prevent blemishes. However, Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk was created for normal, dry and sensitive skin as a solution for dryness, irritation and blocked pores.

Because I am fortunate to have about a million different facial cleansers at my disposal, I am quite specific in which facial cleanser I use when. I use Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk in the morning when my skin is not actually dirty like it is at night after a day of gardening, exercising outdoors, wearing makeup etc. In the morning, I want a cleanser that won’t over-clean my skin and that will leave it feeling moisturized and ready to face the day. Purlisse 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk fits the bill.

I’m not exactly sure what the “4-in-1” part refers to since Purlisse lists the benefits of 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk as “removes makeup, while it gently cleans and tones skin”. That seems like three things to me. So perhaps it refers to the four key ingredients and their effects:

  • Blue Lotus Extract is a powerhouse antioxidant with anti-inflammatory benefits known to combat against free radical damage
  • White Tea helps rejuvenate skin
  • Soy Milk is rich in amino acids & maintains skin elasticity
  • Whole Oat calms & soothes sensitive skin

The times when I do use Purlisse at the end of the day, I use it as the second step in my cleansing process, and I use micellar water to remove my makeup. As a result, I can’t speak about its effectiveness at removing makeup, especially mascara.

But as a gentle, hydrating cleanser, it does a good job. Purlisse 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk is a white liqui-gel-cream that does not foam or lather. Usually I like cleansers that lather, but in the morning, I don’t mind using this clingy “milk”.

It has a very light fresh scent that I didn’t smell at all till I purposely sniffed the tube. Unless you are very sensitive to fragrances, I don’t think you would be bothered by it.

After rinsing off the cleanser with tepid water and my natural sponge or Foreo cleansing device, my skin feels soft, smooth and ready for what’s next in my skincare routine. Though Purlisse 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk has a built-in toner, I sometimes still spray my skin with latest obsession, Dr. Few CBD Spray, because it smells and feels so calming.

Purlisse is free from Phthalates, Mineral Oil, Parabens, Sulfates, Petrolatum, Formaldehydes, Ethanolamines, Butoxyethanol, 1,4-Dioxane, Coal Tar, Hydroquinone, Aluminum Salts, Methoxyethanol, Lead, Paraffin, and Animal Oils, Musks, and Fats. It is also a cruelty-free brand.

Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk comes in an easily recyclable, plastic squeeze tube. It contains 5.07 fl. oz./150 ml of product and is priced at $36. The 3.4 fl .oz. travel size is priced at about $28. It’s sold on the Purlisse website and on Amazon. BTW, Rakuten is currently giving 10% cashback on Purlisse purchases.

I received Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk in one of my Ipsy Plus Bags, and I was pleased to get it. I intend to use it up. While I like it especially for the way I am using it now as a gentle morning cleanser, $36 is not inexpensive. If I am going to spend that kind of money for a cleanser, I think I would probably stick with PCA Skin Creamy Cleanser that’s priced at $34 for 7 fl. oz. and is even more seriously hydrating.

  1. I have only tried a few things fro Purlisse, and they were always samples in beauty boxes. This sounds like a nice cleanser. I also prefer foaming or lathering cleansers as well, though.
