Rediscovering Two Makeup Products I Forgot About

When I was packing last week for our trip to Maine, I stumbled upon two makeup products that I forgot all about. Not wearing makeup very often during the past year and a half, I forgot about a lot of stuff that I used to like. There’s probably more than just these two, but they’re a good place to start. One of the products appears to be discontinued by the manufacturer, but it seems to still be around at retailers though not in all shades and at a slightly higher price.

Glo Beauty HD Mineral Foundation Stick

I must have really liked Glo Beauty HD Mineral Foundation Stick from the get go because it is more than half used up. Even after sitting around for a year and a half, it’s still in great shape.

What I especially love about it is that it is so darn easy to apply with either fingers, sponge or brush. And it has buildable coverage from sheer to full depending on how much you apply. When I use this stick, I don’t need to use concealer because a little extra in a spot that needs it covers completely. It’s so quick and easy, and it lasts all day. So happy I rediscovered it.

Glo HD Mineral Foundation Stick in Fawn 5C is a great match for my fair/light skin tone.

I think I also had another shade Fresco 3N, but I can’t find that one. It comes in 12 shades from fair to deep though the most shades are in the middle range.

It is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin.

The foundation stick is creamy and it contains wonderful skincare ingredients:

  • hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump skin
  • natural mineral pigments
  • antioxidant vitamins A, C and E plus green tea extract to protect skin from environmental stressors.

Glo Beauty HD Mineral Foundation Stick contains 9g/0.31 oz.: although that doesn’t sound like much, in reality it’s a big long lasting stick.

It’s priced at $48. It’s sold on the Glo Skin Beauty website as well as at Dermstore.com which is an authorized retailer for the brand, eCosmetics.com, and Amazon. Dermstore with its frequent coupon code sales is a best bet (15% off if you sign up for emails).

L’Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner

I must have bought this gel liner a couple of years ago. Surprisingly, it is not dried out at all.

It is so easy to apply with a slant brush. Because it takes a minute or two to dry down, it is easy to correct mistakes. But once it’s dry, it stays put. I haven’t tried it on my waterline, but I was reading comments from other users, and some women do have good luck using it on the waterline.

I bought the shade Dark Slate when I bought it at CVS. Black eyeliner is too harsh on me, but this medium gray is a better bet. It also came in Blackest Black, Navy, Espresso, and Bronze (a medium brown shade).

Sadly, it appears that L’Oreal has moved on and has discontinued this fab gel eyeliner in a pot. Boo! But I was able to find it still on a number of websites including Target.com and Walgreens.com where you can find Blackest Black and BuyMeBeauty where you can find Espresso, Bronze and Dark Slate. Though some of the sites have jacked up the price a bit since it’s technically no longer available, it is still mostly within reach. I’m wondering if I should pick up the Bronze before it’s gone?

  1. Gel liners have lost popularity but I don’t know why. They last so much longer on me than pencil or liquid does. I think finding the right brush is a problem for many. I cherish the Paula Dorf brush I bought years ago and wish it was available again. I also wish more brands had good gel liners and NOT in black.

    1. It’s sad that gel liners in pots aren’t in vogue these days. I’m glad you still have your Paula Dorf brush. When you take care of things of quality, they last a long time, thank goodness. I have an inexpensive Sonia Kashuk slant brush from Target, but it does the trick!

  2. What great rediscoveries, Allison! I have been going through my makeup drawers and finding so many things that I had completely forgotten about, and that I really ned to pull out and use. That Glo Foundation Stick sounds like a magnificent formula, and it’s something that I would love to try when I use up a few more of my foundations! I wonder why L’Oreal discontinued such a wonderful product?! Too bad!

    1. As Marcia suggested, gel liners in pots aren’t in vogue these days. It seems that every brand has come out with pencil gel liners instead. I have some, but I like the gel in a pot better. It lasts so much longer!
