Refreshments Radiant Micellar Water

I Bought This, Affiliate Links

In an earlier Ipsy bag where I forgot to pick my products, I received a bottle of Ipsy’s house brand, Refreshments Radiant Micellar Water. Since I had never tried any products from their private label brand, I was kind of happy to get it. It is a clean beauty brand, vegan and cruelty-free.

I had a big bottle of my usual Bioderma Hydrabio Micellar Water, so I put the Refreshments version aside till I finished up the Bioderma. After I finished and recycled the Bioderma, I decided to give Refreshments Radiant Micellar Water a go and pass on replacing the Bioderma.

First, I had a rather difficult time opening up the cap, and even though I have gotten it open at first time, I still have trouble opening it. The cap is made of thin plastic, and I managed to break part of the piece that holds the cap on. Ugh.

Underneath the cap is a push-down dispenser. I usually like that type of dispenser because they’re easy to use and they work well with a cotton pad. There’s one on my Zoya Big Dipper Polish Remover, and it does a good job soaking the cotton. This one doesn’t soak the pad as easily or else the micellar water doesn’t feel as wet. I usually have to pump it a few times. But no big deal.

Refreshments Radiant Micellar Water is more difficult to use than Bioderma Hydrabio or Koh Gen Do Micellar Water, my other favorite. It just doesn’t feel “wet”, and thus, it doesn’t take off my eye makeup as easily. A few days ago, I switched my mascara to Thrive Mascara. When I tried to remove it, it sort of flaked off into pieces all over my eyes. I’m not sure if that’s the fault of the mascara or the micellar water. I have also used it on my usual mascaras, and while they didn’t flake off, they required a bit more work to remove.

Nevertheless, Refreshments does a good job removing eye shadow and concealer (I haven’t been able to wear foundation so I don’t know about that yet).

The ingredients for Refreshments Micellar Water are very good:

Refreshments Radiant Micellar Water‘s container holds 6.7 fl. oz./198 ml. For members, it is currently priced at $5 as an Ipsy Add-On, otherwise it is $18. To be honest, I just went to CVS and bought Bioderma Hydrabio in the same size that works better for me. Bioderma Hydrabio is priced at $18.99 at CVS, though I saved $7+ with my 40% off coupon.

I’m a huge fan of Bioderma and would rather spend my money on that rather than struggle with something else. Sometimes the low cost isn’t a bargain if you have to use more and more of it.
