During the spring and summer, even a dry skinned gal like me likes to lighten things up. And that’s what I’ve done with my daytime moisturizer. In April, I received a jar of Reviva Labs Light Cream Sun Protective Moisturizer, and since then, I’ve been hooked.
Reviva Labs Light Cream Sun Protective Moisturizer is more like a soufflé than a cream. It feels delightful on my skin: lightweight but completely hydrating. Greaseless, too. My skin drinks it up immediately, and it’s perfect to wear under foundation. I know that some of you may balk because it’s in a jar rather than a tube, but I use a scoop and I don’t leave the top off. I love how creamy it looks in the jar.
Sun Protective Moisturizer has SPF 25 although it doesn’t say that on the packaging. It does say “Sun Protective” as well as “Ideal for Daily Use Outdoors”. It also provides UVA/UVB protection. I was unaware that unless a skincare company goes through specific tests to prove the SPF factor, they are unable to publish the specific SPF on the packaging. I’ve wondered why I receive so few daytime moisturizers with SPF for review from so many of the skincare companies who approach me to try their products. Now I get it: it is cost prohibitive for smaller companies to do the mandated testing so many smaller brands just don’t make a daytime moisturizer. Because Reviva Labs is a brand that I have used for a number of years, I trust it. So I’m fine with using “Sun Protective Moisturizer”.
There are lots of things to love about Reviva Labs products: how affordable they are, that they’re available all over. Plus, they’re parabens-free, vegan and do not test on animals.
Reviva Labs Sun Protective Moisturizer contains 1.5 oz. and is priced around $13 (but I have seen it for less). It’s sold on the Reviva Labs website, at Ulta Beauty, Walmart, iherb.com, Amazon, vitacost.com and other retailers.
Do you wear a daytime moisturizer with sunscreen built-in, or do you go for a separate sunscreen over a regular moisturizer? Just curious!
Ingredients: Purified Water, Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Octyl Salicylate, Titanium Dioxide, Capric/Caprylic Triglycerides, Avobenzone, Cetearyl Alcohol, PEG-100 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Octyldodecanol, Dimethicone, Polyacrylate-13, Propylene Glycol, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Aloe Leaf Extract, PEG-16 Macadamia Glycerides, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Citrate, Fragrance.
I’ll need a new day time face cream soon, and I’ve been loving Reviva Labs lately so I will definitely check this out@

I think you would like it, Tess: so affordable and greaseless so it’s great under makeup
Nice product that I’ll have to check out next time I’m at Ulta. I usually use a sunscreen moisturizer (Olay), and will go higher SPF if I’m at the beach 🙂

I was a big fan of Olay for a long time and still am. But glad I discovered Reviva Labs. This moisturizer is great because it’s sooooo affordable and greaseless – perfect under foundation
Didn’t receive a newsletter today but glad I hopped over to check for your new post! I am glad you mentioned about the testing needed in order to place the SPF factor, that’s a good info to know. I used to wear Avon day cream that has SPF25 in (the gold jar) which I absolutely love but haven’t touch it for some time as I am testing so many skincare recently.

By the way, what are your thoughts on the Hourglass Serum primer? I’ve been reading reviews on it ever since you said you bought it and seems like it’s heaven sent for dry skin. Is it true?
Shireen L. Platt recently posted…BUDGET BEAUTY COLLAB with Style Sprinter: Makeup Under $30.00
Absolutely true! But you must must must have very dry skin otherwise it would be too much. I think I’ll be using the Hourglass Veil Primer for summer coz the serum is too heavy for hot, humid weather. I’ve gotta get ’round to reviewing them both!
Thank you so much, Shireen, for checking. On Sunday, I changed the delivery time of my post because the Beauty Blog Coalition was late in posting the weekly roundup code. But after it was delivered I changed the time back to normal time. This morning it didn’t get delivered. When I went on Mailchimp to see what was up, it said my feed URL was no good – it’s the same feed url they’ve been using for 2 years. I tried taking out the URL and replacing it and changing the time but it doesn’t want to deliver it. I hope it’ll deliver tomorrow otherwise I need to find a new service. I know you use Feedburner but I don’t want to go back to it since it’s not being supported anymore. Grrrr.
Have you been testing a lot of daytime moisturizers with SPF? Even tho’ I get a ton of moisturizers, very very few have sunscreen in them. I found it interesting to find out why! I haven’t used Avon in a long time, but I liked their skincare.
The soufflé texture sounds absolutely fantastic! I love that it has an SPF of 25 as well. I will definitely add this to my list to try!

You had me at souffle lol this sounds so wonderful for dry skin!

It really is, but because it feels lightweight and is greaseless, it would work for combo skin too.
I used to be a Reviva Labs lover– haven’t tried any of their new products but I should!

IMHO, they continue to make terrific skincare products and so affordable.
Reviva Labs makes so many fabulous products. I didn’t know about this one but now I definitely want it. Lately I’ve been blending some sunscreens with my older foundations to be sure I’m getting better SPF.

That’s a smart idea, Marcia. I really, really love this lightweight, greaseless daytime moisturizer – great under foundation 🙂
Reviva Labs is an excellent brand, I don’t mind jars but I know many do.

I don’t mind them at all. I don’t always want my moisturizer to come out of a tube. With this one, I’d miss the soufflé-like character of the cream
I’m not a fan of jar packaging but otherwise this sounds nice.

I didn’t realize they had to go through testing to add the SPF info. Interesting. I love anything lightweight this time of year. I have to check this out.

I LOVE moisturizers with sunscreen in them!! I will definitely check this one out.

I am completely taken by this daytime moisturizer. Perfect for summer and for under foundation
I didn’t know about the cost of validating SPF levels. That’s a good tidbit to stash away. This does look incredibly moisturizing.

Yes, it was an interesting thing to learn. So many things that a skincare company has to plan for and prove.
I have tended to avoid creams with sunscreen if it smells strongly of sunscreen… right now, I’m using a primer with sunscreen that I like, but I would use give this cream a try because I have enjoyed pretty much everything from the Reviva line! I trust them, too, when they say ‘sun protection’ to mean it.
Nidia – Lit From Within recently posted…Instant Eye Lift! #DynamicSonic
I think you’d like this daytime moisturizer, Nidia, because it’s so fluffy, lightweight and greaseless. And it does not smell like sunscreen at all. I’ve enjoyed just about everything I’ve tried from RL, too 🙂
Reviva is a nice brand. I think it will help the company to cement its reputation more if they allocate certain budget for R&D
Kath Thefabzilla recently posted…How-to: Summer-Proof Makeup
Truthfully, I think you’re right, Kathryne. It is the price of doing business.
I’m happy to hear it absorbs quickly and isn’t greasy. I’m pretty picky about sunscreens to wear under makeup. If it doesn’t absorb quickly, it’s relegated to beach use only, rather than daily wear. If someone is a makeup wearer, the sunscreen has to play well with primer and/or foundation.

I love your review on this cream and I personally do switch for the summer for a “lighter” cream for my dry skin!

Well, Reviva labs always has some really great products. I switch out my creams in summer months because the light – more lotion like ones don’t normally cut it for me during summer months, I actually need something a tad bit stiffer if that makes any sense. But I do love a good cream regardless and would check this one out.
Honeygirlk recently posted…Zing Anything With the Original Citrus Zinger Infused Water Bottle
I usually use really thick creams so for me, the soufflé texture of this one is lighter. But it’s not lotion weight. I think you’d like it.
