Revlon Photoready Eye Art: Ready for Holiday Parties!

I’m a big fan of cream shadows, so when I saw a video review of Revlon Photoready Eye Art, I knew I “needed” it. There were about 5 or 6 different color options on the display, though the Revlon website shows 10 options. I chose Peach Prism, a peachy/light coppery shade that I thought would look good on me with my red hair and would go with my rose gold jewelry and my peach and copper holiday clothes.

Revlon Photoready Eye Art looks exactly like their Nail Art products.

It’s a double-ended tube: one side has a satin cream shadow and the other side has a sparkly topper. Each one has a doe-foot applicator.

Here are the swatches:

I used the cream shadow first as a liner, and I liked the look a lot.

Then I applied the cream shadow to my entire lid. It needed a bit of blending so it didn’t look patchy, and I used a shadow brush for that. It dries pretty quickly so you have to work quickly. It definitely had a metallic look to it.

Next, I added the glitter on top near the lash line. Revlon suggests applying a bit of the sparkle on the tips of your lashes, but I passed on that one.

The night I bought it, I couldn’t wait to try it out. So I applied it over the light shade Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Shadow that I was already wearing over Urban Decay Anti-aging Eye Primer. I would say that the Revlon Photoready Eye Art should be applied over a primer so it will go on evenly. Also, it is a bit drying so those of you with oily eyelids might be in good shape with this one. For me with my dry eyelids, it did feel a bit drying. I will be sure to apply eye cream before I use it again.

As I mentioned, I used it all over my lid as suggested on the Revlon website. I believe you could blend it with other shadows to create a smokey eye, but because it dries quickly you’d have to work fast to blend it out. And I’m not sure how it would blend with a powder shadow.

At any rate, I love this shade, and I know it will be one I go to often during the holiday season.

Each side contains 0.1 fl. oz. It’s made in the US with some non-US components. I bought it at CVS where it was (over)priced at $9.99, but most places sell Revlon Photoready Eye Art for around $8.99. Fortunately, I had a $2 off coupon. 😉 I can’t find an ingredient list, unfortunately.

    1. Thank you, Shipra! I think the packaging on this new shadow pair and the nail polish & topper is so handy and fun 🙂

  3. Hi Allison!

I hope that you had a lovely weekend! I love all of your pictures, and the top photo with your beautiful necklace is stunning! I love the way this looks on you, but the fact that it is drying seems troubling– especially since it is now colder weather. Having to pile on eye cream to make it work seems like a lot of extra work, however it looks so gorgeous on you that I would be inclined to take that extra step! <3

    1. I wish it weren’t drying, Lola, but I bought it in spite of suspecting that it would be. All of the cream shadows (in a tube) that I own from a number of different brands are drying. It must be something about the liquify state, like liquid lipstick, that makes them so. But I was drawn to the shade and the fun idea of using the glitter as a liner!

  4. LOVE IT! The color looks great on you! And it looks like it could be a lot of fun.. I don’t think I have any type of coppery shades in my eye makeup collection. I may need to go check it out 🙂

    1. Revlon has so many pretty color combos. There’s a real copper in addition to the peach that I bought. Frankly, it was hard to choose!

  5. It’s a very pretty soft color

    1. Yes, that’s one of the things that drew me too it. If I’m wearing anything metallic or with glitter on my older eyes, it had better be a soft color, lol

  6. I’m not great with cream shadows, my lids are oily and most fade quick. This one may work for me!

  8. I remember seeing this in stores but I thought it was actually one of their nail polishes, they definitely need to differentiate the packaging!

    1. That certainly is a problem, Mai! The LE-looking display that it was on in CVS definitely shouted eye shadow, but if it were on the regular display, you’re right, it looks exactly the same as the polish

  9. The color is perfect for Christmas! I’ll have to look for it in the stores.

  10. That looks so good on you! The formula sounds like a miss for me and my picky eyelids though.

    1. I too wish the formula were more hydrating, Rach. I have the version of blepharitis that gives me very dry eyelids and eye sockets, unfortunately. I find that all the cream eyeshadows in a tube regardless of brand are this way once they dry. But I like the shade a lot, and I am going to try blending it with a deep copper from the brand Jane and see how that looks. Fun for the holiday!

  11. Very interesting product and it looks great on you!

    1. Thank you, Leelo! It’s a fun product to play with 🙂

  12. While I don’t like the double packaging for nail products, it looks way more functional for eye products!

  13. Ok, I’ve gotta pick one of these up! I thought it was a bit .. gimmicky, but looks so pretty on your eyes.

  21. Love copper golds like this!

    1. Me too. Rose gold is my fave. The nighttime light makes it look more golden than it is. It is a peach color, and it looks like rose gold because it’s metallic.

    1. The whole collection contains great holiday shades. I love the peachy rose gold that I bought!

  22. The Human Factors Psychologist in me is screaming at the packaging. Not smart to make an eye product look just like a nail product. The color does look good on you!

    1. The experimental psychologist and market research in me, Nidia, knows that Revlon does a ton of consumer research before launching any new products, and my guess is that the dual-ended packaging was very successful for them. Right now, it’s not so much of a problem at point of sale because it’s being sold on a display that makes it clear that it’s an eye shadow product. But you are right, they will have a challenge to clearly identify it if it becomes a permanent product that’s sold on the regular display.

    1. I agree, Jamie! I love this peachy rose gold 🙂

  23. I totally thought that was one of their nail polishes!
Sheila recently posted…Get Great Beauty Gifts At Your Fingertips Over At HSNMy Profile

    1. Right now, the dual-ended packaging is not such a problem because it’s sold on a separate display where it’s clearly identified as an eye shadow product. But if it becomes a permanent product sold on the regular Revlon display, it will definitely need something to differentiate it from the nail art. But it is the perfect packaging for this 2-in-1 product.

  24. How beautiful! How have I not seen these beauties before?!
