RMS Beauty UnCoverup Concealer

Are you an RMS Beauty user?

I started hearing about RMS Beauty in 2023, though the brand has been around much, much longer than that. The woman who started RMS Beauty, Rose-Marie Swift, is a makeup artist who has been in the business for decades.

Rose-Marie created her clean beauty makeup brand with skin-loving ingredients. She is the “face” of RMS Beauty, and you can see her in almost all of the company’s advertising demonstrating how to apply and use the products. Because Rose-Marie is somewhere in her 70s, I think, and she wears the makeup she helped create, the brand comes across as being appropriate for all generations.

In addition, RMS Beauty’s point-of-difference is offering “makeup artist advice” to their customers:

“Get FREE beauty tips and makeup consultations from our in-house experts— all personally trained by our founder, master makeup artist Rose-Marie Swift.”

UnCoverup Concealer

I did not take advantage of RMS Beauty’s in-house experts when I made my last purchase, and now I sort of regret it. I decided to try RMS Beauty’s concealer that Rose-Marie in one of the commercials introduced as the “UnCoverup” Concealer that you can use as both a concealer and/or as face makeup that need not be applied all over the face but in areas where it’s needed most. That appealed to me because often I just want to cover up my dark spots and put some concealer under my eyes and go with mostly bare skin. Sounds perfect.

Here’s Rose-Marie using and talking about the origins of the UnCoverup Concealer:

UnCoverup Concealer comes in 16 shades from fair to deep, but for me, the hard part was trying to choose the best shade for my skin online. My skin is cool-toned fair/light with pink undertones. I looked at the options, and there really wasn’t one that seemed like a perfect match. First, I looked at shade 00 described as “a light shade for fair skin”. Sounds pretty unclear to me. I was concerned it might be too light.

The next shade that I considered was one up on the list, shade 11, described as “ivory with a slight golden base”. No, that’s not me.

Next up was shade 11.5, “a buff beige with neutral undertones”. I have never chosen beige anything for my skin. What to do?

I ended up going with shade 11, ivory with a slight golden base.

The yellow or golden base really isn’t me, but surprisingly, the swatches on my arm make it look almost perfect.

I kept the concealer in spite of my initial concern, and over the two months that I’ve owned it, I’ve played around with it. First, I discovered that it is critical to breakthrough the waxy top, just like Jones Road Miracle Balm as well as other cream products, that seem to be encased underneath a clear wax coating.

Second, warming up a bit of the concealer on my hand seems to help make it easier to apply with either a finger or brush.

Third, layering or building up the concealer is a necessity on my dark spots. One layer does not cover enough for me. Letting it set and applying another layer works better. The product is described as providing “buildable coverage”, so build I must. Since the product is supposed to last up to 12 hours, I need more to keep those dark spots covered especially if I am applying it to bare skin without foundation to do some of the heavy lifting, so to speak.

Nevertheless, UnCoverup Concealer has a nice, lightweight, silky feel to it on my finger and on my skin. I will continue to gain more experience with the product. Plus one of these days, I will go to a Nordstrom or Bluemercury store that carries RMS Beauty and see if one of the SAs can match me and show me how to best use this intriguing concealer.

UnCoverup Concealer comes in a small glass pot, though I would have preferred a tube. I have a million scoops that I can use to get some product out without sticking my finger in it, but I often skip the scoop. UnCoverup Concealer is priced at $39 for 5.67g/0.20 oz. I bought it on the RMS Beauty website during one of their 15% off sales prior to Christmas. You can also shop RMS Beauty on QVC, local spas or salons as well as Nordstrom and Bluemercury.

I joined their Rewards programs that allows me to accrue points to get money off future purchases. I have 69 points, and I need 31 more points to get $5 off. But for me, the key benefit is the free shipping for Rewards members.

Let me know what you think of RMS Beauty, if you’ve tried it. Also, Rose-Marie Swift is one of the best assets the brand has! There are lots more videos of her on the RMS Beauty website.

  1. I have this concealer somewhere, and I need to see if I can find it. I have had it for quite some time, and therefore it may no longer be good, but I hope that it is. I don’t remember the waxier top because it has been so long since I used it, but you have inspired me to try it again to see what I think. Thank you for the very useful review, Allison!

    1. I’m curious, did you get the RMS Concealer in a store, so you were able to select the right shade? About the “waxier” top, I’m not sure what the right terminology is to describe it. Sometimes with cream makeup, the top congeals or sets and you have to “break through” that top layer so you can get to the creamier part. I don’t know what to call it! At any rate, if you find your RMS Concealer and if it’s still usable, LMK what you think about it!

      1. I can’t remember if I received it as a press sample, or whether I bought it, but I think that I just looked at the colors online, and not in the store. I found mine and it is the same shade as yours. It’s a pretty good match for me. I am now trying to determine if it is still good!

I think RMS Beauty is a great brand. I bought one of the blushes that have radiance and would love to buy more. They are very similar to Haus Beauty’s but I think less expensive. I’ll have to find out if RMS is at my Nordstorm store.

    1. The blushes look gorgeous, Marcia. I’ll be yours is beautiful. Actually, I was thinking of you when I wrote this because you have such fair skin, and I think their shade 000 would work for you if you ever need another concealer! I think that RMS is slightly more expensive than Haus, unless Haus has increased their prices over the past couple of years. I bought a lot of Haus makeup after they launched, but maybe they have gone up in price?

  3. Actually, Allison, you are using the concealer shade that would be ideal for me! This sounds wonderful. I am especially interested after seeing Rose-Marie’s videos. I appreciate her demonstrations. My only need is to see if it is safe for sensitive skin. Thanks for the info on this – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

    1. Check out the RMS Beauty website, Angie, and see if they address appropriateness for sensitive skin. Or call them! Or make an appointment with one of the artists.
