Rubber Ducky Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50

Finally, this weekend, it was finally warm enough outdoors to wear shorts and short sleeves! And with more skin exposed to the sun, I needed to wear sunscreen on more than just my face and neck.

In March, I was contacted by the new owner of the sunscreen brand, Rubber Ducky, that’s been around since 1983. A couple of years ago, I reviewed a number of body and lip balm sunscreens from Rubber Ducky, and I liked them a lot. Since then, the company has changed hands and also changed their packaging!

Rubber Ducky’s new packaging is really cute. It features a more traditional rubber ducky than in the former packaging. I think the green and yellow colors and the new look really positions the brand as an all-family brand of sunscreen. Because a number of the Rubber Ducky products feature mineral ingredients, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, it is very appropriate for children or for the entire family.

Rubber Ducky Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50

Since March, the container of Rubber Ducky Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 has sat in my stash of body care products. But I had lots of occasions to use it this past weekend.

Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 is a broad-spectrum cream product that protects from UVA and UVB rays. The thick white cream comes in a pump bottle containing 3.38 fl. oz. In addition to the active mineral ingredients, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, it also contains lots of natural plant extracts, e.g. Cucumber Fruit Extract, Peppermint Leaf Extract, and other moisturizing skincare ingredients like glycerin.

The sunscreen is unfragranced, and it’s oxybenzone and octinoxate-free, oil-free, and parabens-free. Also, it’s reef safe.

Because it is a mineral sunscreen, it does leave a white cast on my skin till I really rub it in. After a few minutes, the whiteness disappears.

Like most serious sunscreens, it should be applied 15 minutes before going outdoors, and it should be reapplied after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, and after 2 hours of sun exposure. After swimming and towel-drying, reapply it.

Rubber Ducky Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 protected my skin very well. On Saturday, we visited a farm and spent quite a bit of time outdoors. On Sunday, we went bike riding. I definitely needed a trusted sunscreen!

Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 is priced at $16.99 on the Rubber Ducky website. It’s also sold on Amazon.

I love rubber duckies and have two in my bathroom. It’s great that this isn’t fragranced. It’s going on my list to buy once I use up the half dozen minis I bought in a kit.

    1. I love rubber duckies too. I have the yellow one from the photo and two minis that are so cute. This is an effective mineral cream, on the thick side initially but once applied, it disappears into my dry skin coz of all the skincare moisturizers!

  2. I love their sunscreens, and would love to try these! Thank you for the review, Allison!
