Self-Care for My Feet w 7th Heaven Soften Sock Masques

We’ve had a drought here for at least the past 11 weeks. Everything is dry, and the chance of forest fires have been high. Fortunately, today it finally rained. And I mean rain. It has been pouring since 4 am. In fact, it’s been raining so hard that I haven’t left the house even to bring in the empty trash barrels that are out there collecting water.

Since I’ve been home inside all day, I’ve used the time for a little self-care. I’ve mentioned a number of times that I spend much of my time jogging, walking or hiking in the woods. My feet are more beat up than usual.

Amope Electric Foot File

In the summer, even though I only went to the beach a handful of times, the sand helped remove the dry skin on my feet. Now, I have to do it myself with my trusty Amope Electric Foot File Extra Coarse that I have mentioned a number of times.

The last time I bought replacement heads for it, CVS only had the regular rather than the Extra Coarse heads that I prefer. So it takes a little longer with the regular head, but before I got into the shower, I filed the dry, dead skin on my heels, on the side of my big toes and at the joint under my big toe where the skin rubs on my hiking and running shoes. It definitely made a difference. Next time I go to CVS, I will check to see if they have the Extra Coarse head that does such a terrific and quick job.

Trimming My Nails

While my nails were still soft after the shower, I trimmed my nails with my ancient but still effective LaCross curved tip nail scissors and Trim toe nail clippers. I should have grabbed my readers so I could see what I was doing, but I just winged it. You can be sure I don’t do as good a job as the women at my local nail salon do.

7th Heaven Soften Sock Masques

After filing my feet, I used the fabulous 7th Heaven Soften Sock Masques. They are plastic booties with the softening, hydrating agents already inside the booties. They’re a cinch to use. Just open the 7th Heaven packet, take out the booties, open the top, put it on your foot, and use the sticky tab to keep the bootie closed around your ankle. Easy peasy. Then relax for 15-20 minutes while the key ingredients shea butter, almond oil, peppermint, and soybean oil work their magic. I put my Sensi Capri spa slide sandals (reviewed here) on top of the Sock Masques, and I did some work at my computer for about a half hour.

When I took off the booties, there was left over softening agent on my feet so I let it dry on my feet. My formerly poor feet feel as soft as baby skin, and they look hydrated instead of desiccated. Wow, do I love these simple to use 7th Heaven Soft Sock Masques!

Fortunately, I have two more packs of the Sock Masques left. Typically, they are sold at Walmart, but they are sold out on Walmart.com right now. I am going to sign up for an alert when they are back in stock. The price listed on Walmart.com is $2.20, and they are well worth that modest price. I want to get in the habit of using 7th Heaven Soften Sock Masques once a week through the winter when my feet are even drier than usual.

7th Heaven has some other foot products including Foot Pumice and Butter combo pack that also should be for sale on Walmart.com but also seems to be out of stock. I’m going to email 7th Heaven and ask them if/when these products are coming back. I loved it when Montaigne Jeunnesse’s 7th Heaven masks were carried at Ulta. It was so easy to pick them up while I was standing in line for the cashier. They’re a great impulse item.

While I’m at it, let me remind you about 7th Heaven Black Seaweed Peel Off Masque that I reviewed a while ago (here). Even though the Black Seaweed Peel Off Masque is a deep pore detox masque, I can use it with no issues. It doesn’t dry out my already dry skin. I just apply the deep black masque to my face with either my fingers or a brush, it hardens in 20 minutes, and then I peel it off. The key ingredients are sea salt (the masque is smooth and gentle), nutrient-rich and detoxifying lava seaweed, and sea buckthorn. My face is as clean as a whistle without being dried out. One of the good things about the Black Seaweed Peel Off Masque is that it may be available at more places than the foot masque. Look for it in-store at Walmart, Claire’s and maybe also HEB stores.

Also, 7th Heaven Charcoal Peel Off Mask, another detoxifying mask for oily and combination skin, is Walmart’s #1 selling mask. That one, you can find here as well as in store.

Smith & Cult Bite Your Kiss Nail Polish

I haven’t painted my nails since the summer. Since I had the time, I tried out the Smith & Cult Bite Your Kiss dark, witchy nail polish that I got in my Ipsy Plus bag last month. Smith & Cult describes it as opaque aubergine (eggplant).

I started with Seche Vite Base Coat, two coats of Bite Your Kiss polish, and finished with Glisten & Glo Topcoat. I love the Smith & Cult packaging, but I don’t really love the skinny brush.

But actually, maybe the skinny brush is better for painting small toe nails. Because this was such a dark shade, and as usual I couldn’t see what I was doing, so I used a Q-tip and some polish remover to clean up. Don’t look too close 😉

So that’s it! My feet are revived. For now anyway!

Have you been doing your own pedicures lately, or have you gone back to the nail salon?

  1. I’m overdue for a pedi! I should do that this weekend! I love that color polish on you! One of my absolute favorite shades for my toes!

  2. Look at your happy feet!! If I wear polish on my toes I’ll use a dark color too. Who knew though that we’d have trouble seeing our toes when we first started giving ourselves pedicures! That foot mask is wonderful. I should put an alert on them at Walmart too.

  3. That’s such a pretty color for fall! And tbh sometimes I don’t even bother cleaning up around my toenails because the excess polish will just fall off next time you shower. Love that Amope device too, I have one and use it often!
