Sensitive Skin Brush Head for My Michael Todd Soniclear Elite

Today’s post will be short and sweet.

Although I like my Michael Todd Soniclear Elite cleansing brush, the brush head was a little too harsh for my skin. As a result, I could only use it about once a week. Instead, I have been using a Foreo Luna.

So I’ve been dancing a jig since I received a Sensitive Replacement Brush Head to try out.

The Sensitive Replacement Brush Head has been available for quite a while for $18, but I didn’t know it. Bad blogger. The bristles are softer than those of the original brush head, and for me, that makes all the difference. Now I can use my Soniclear Elite just about any time I want.

Most importantly, I really like the fact that the Soniclear uses antimicrobial technology that lasts for the life of the brush head. I feel better about using the cleansing device. Basically, I can use the brush head for a couple of months or more until the bristles need to be replaced, as long as I clean the head with soap after each use.

Also, I recently learned that the Soniclear is 5 times more effective than the Foreo Luna that I had been using much more frequently, and that the Soniclear cleanses in less time. On the Michael Todd website, there’s also information about Soniclear vs. Clarisonic. In sum, Soniclear has the antimicrobial protection and Clarisonic doesn’t. I didn’t know that. There’s also some more info about the cleaning effectiveness of the brush heads of the two similar brands. Worth a read.

I own the classic purple Soniclear Elite, but now it comes in a slew of colors and patterns. It has 6 speeds, and the new version does wireless charging (I wish I had that!). The regular price for the full size Soniclear Elite is $149, but I just got an email announcing a 20% off any items on the Michael Todd Beauty website during the Valentine’s sale with the code: LOVEMTB that’s good till February 16. Take a look. Michael Todd Beauty also has other cool beauty devices. And if you already own a Soniclear, now’s a good time to stock up on replacement heads! And they’re also sold at Ulta. 🙂

  1. I have a Clarisonic that is unloved in one of my bathroom cabinet drawers. I like the idea this has the antimicrobial qualities for the life of the brush head. This is worth checking out. Especially with the sensitive head.

    1. The antimicrobial treatment really does take away some of the concern. I wish there was something similar that was safe for my electric toothbrush!

  2. DiEtta says:

If you have a Clarisonic you must try their new “make-up” brush attachment. It’s so nice. I really like it. I washed it before using it. I dab my liquid foundation (Doll 10 HydraLux) on my face then use the Clarisonic to blend it in. Using circular upward motion, not pressing hard. My foundation looks like it was airbrushed. I don’t use my MIA for cleansing my face. But it’s great for applying my foundation. The YouTuber Tati has a good video on using the Clarisonic for applying foundation. (Use your Ulta coupon)

    1. That’s so cool, DiEtta! Soniclear has a makeup application tool as well, but I don’t know, if like yours it’s an attachment or a separate tool. The attachment idea sounds great. I have an airbrush machine, and it’s small and simple to use but truth be told, I’m too lazy to get it out. It would be easier to use an attachment like yours

  3. I am so happy that the sensitive brush made all of the difference for you! I had no idea that this was 5x more effective than the FOREO Luna!

    1. Me either, Helen. Good to know for me, too, because I’ve been using my Luna most days for years before I got the new sensitive brush head.

  4. I have sensitive skin and I am so afraid of physical exfoliation

    1. Then maybe not for you, Nichole. This new sensitive skin feels good to me. But stick with what your skin can handle. Just curious if you’ve ever tried the Foreo Luna – the plastic/rubber tips just vibrate and I find that it suits my somewhat sensitive skin well.

  5. I’ve always found these brushes so interesting but am also nervous about over exfoliating!

    1. I don’t think that you can over exfoliate because your skin will tell you how often to use the brush. Many people can use it every night, and others once or twice a week. It’s too bad there’s really no way to “test drive” one.

  6. OMG. I thought you were referring to Clarisonic when I commented on your FB page. I guess I wasn’t looking enough. I haven’t tried this yet but due to my not-so-good experience with CS sensitive brush, I stopped buying these types of gadget.

    1. We all have things that work for us and that don’t work for us. And we don’t have to be the same 🙂

  7. It looks pretty similar to my Clarisonic brush head, which I love! It’s very soft and gentle 🙂 I bet they’re all manufactured in the same place 🙂

    1. They might be manufactured in the same place, but I do like the antimicrobial treatment on the MTB brush heads for that added peace of mind.

  8. I always felt I got a better cleaning with this rather than the Foreo. I found my Clarisonic after I moved but still need to dig through for the Michael Todd.

    1. The sensitive brush head allows me to use the Soniclear more frequently but I still don’t use it every night. Although MTB has studies that show that the Soniclear is 5x more effective than the Foreo Luna, the Luna is so gentle I can use it twice a day. So now I use them both throughout the week. Hope you find yours when you get to unpack!

  9. Antimicrobial for the life of the brush?!?! I didn’t know that and certainly makes me feel better about using!!

    1. Nina, just to clarify, it’s for the life of the brush head, and like your toothbrush/electric toothbrush head, you need to toss it and get a new one every 2-3 months.

  10. I’ve never actually tried a Soniclear or any product like it before. I’m curious, but haven bite the bullet yet. I should take the plunge soon.

  11. Ehmkay Nails says:

I know people love these type of brushes but I could never get into them.

  12. 25 Sweetpeas says:

I haven’t used a “power” face washing device in so long! I can’t really imagine what this one would feel like!

  13. I’ve been meaning to try one of these kind of exfoliating machines but honestly my skin is really sensitive and I’m scared.

  14. Yvette Price says:

I’ve never used the power brush, but I’m so glad they have a sensitive brush option.

  15. I really prefer sensitive brush heads on my sonic brushes, the regular ones are just a little too harsh.

  16. I love the idea of an antimicrobal brush. And I’m washing my face by hand like a sucker.

    1. LOL, hands are good too, Stacie, and they’re free. But the sonic devices are terrific for cleaning so well and supposedly helping to boost collagen and such through massage. I love mine!
