September Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag Mini

Although September is over, I wanted to show you the September Rainbow Honey Mystery Bag of minis. For months now, I have been drooling over the Rainbow Honey Mystery Bags that I’ve seen other beauty bloggers review. Finally, when I saw the mini heart-shaped soap and beautiful nail polishes in the September bag, I broke down and ordered the $10 mini bag. I have so much makeup, nail polish and lotions/balms that minis are just fine for me.  😀

Rainbow Honey is a subscription service that offers two different bags, a $10 version of minis and a $15 bag with full-size products. What’s particularly wonderful about Rainbow Honey is you don’t have to subscribe (though you do have to pay for shipping). You can buy individual bags like I did. The products are made in the U.S., and I have a feeling that they are available for delivery in the U.S. only.

So what did I get in my September Rainbow Honey Mini Mystery Bag?

For September, the theme and scent is red apple. In French, it’s “pomme rouge”. The apple scent is quite delightful: not completely authentic like a fresh apple, but nice nonetheless. It may be a familiar scent to you fans of Bath & Body Works, but for me, it’s a new one. The soap, body lotion and body balm all share this scent.

Soap

The little glycerin, apple-scented, heart-shaped soap is adorable! It’s the perfect size for a hand soap in my bathroom.

Body Lotion

Frankly, I didn’t expect much from the body lotion, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is thick enough, amazingly hydrating, long lasting, and it smells great. I popped it in my purse and use it as a wonderful autumn hand lotion.

Body Balm

I was flummoxed by this product when I took it out of the bag. I assumed it was a lip balm, and was surprised when I noticed it was a body balm. Who knows if it would make any difference if I used it as a lip balm? Since I love City Lips for hydrating and plumping, I don’t need a lip balm. Today, I read a blogpost from a “green” beauty blogger about how balms, meaning “hard” balms like a lip balm, are better than creams because they don’t have a ton of water in them that requires emulsifiers and other sometimes not so great ingredients. How interesting! I never thought about that. So, I tried the apple-scented body balm on my shins, an area where my skin has become super dry. I like it! Turns out that this is the one product where I could’ve used a bigger size, lol!

Nail Polish

I was excited about these polishes, especially the red one, Sugarberries, because I saw it swatched on another blog. All three are so cute, and they absolutely gleam! They can be used as toppers or on their own. And I have done both. I used the red one over a jelly, and it was fabulous!

Asteroids with one coat is a sheer deep blue-grey with glitter and stars. With two or more coats, it deepens considerably and it truly looks like a gorgeous night sky looking through a telescope. Sugarberries is a red-orange glitter with some big pieces of hexagonal glitter. It is stunning. I am saving photos of my current mani for a separate post. Salacia with one coat is the lightest and sheerest of the three shades. With two or more coats, it builds up nicely. Salacia is a sea goddess, and the name really fits. It has fine and medium glitter with larger glitter triangles.

I have bookmarked Rainbow Honey so I can check out their monthly bags, and pick one up from time to time. I am also going to keep it in mind for the holiday season that will be here before we know it. I think their bags would make a great little gifts or stocking stuffers.

If you are interested in the September bag, the Rainbow Honey website states that there will be a few more available once their website comes back online on October 3 at 10pm PST.
