Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Eye Concentrate: Unique Booster for Eyes

“Ultimune”, what in heaven’s name does that mean? Hmm. It’s probably a combo of ultimate and “immune”. Immune from wrinkles, maybe?

Anyway, I am almost finished with a tube of Shiseido IBUKI Eye Correcting Cream that I reviewed a long time ago (here). Since I wrote the initial review ages ago, I have come to love Shiseido IBUKI Eye Correcting Cream even more. In fact, I think it’s the best eye brightening cream I’ve ever used. The dark circles under my eyes aren’t too bad, but I have never found any eye cream that gets rid of them completely. What I love about Shiseido Eye Correcting Cream is that its reflective particles are so good that it brightens my undereye area big time!

So in October when I had a coupon for 20% off one prestige item at Ulta, I decided to replace my almost empty tube of Shiseido Eye Correcting Cream. When I got to the store, they were out of it. I’m laughing because as I am writing this post, I just realized that I thought the product was called Eye Brightening Cream because the brightening benefit eclipsed everything else it does, IMO!

Though disappointed that I couldn’t find Eye Correcting Cream, I browsed the Shiseido shelves at Ulta, and I discovered Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Eye Concentrate.

The metallic pink and raspberry ombre packaging caught my eye, and I tried the tester.

The Eye Concentrate is a cloudy gel cream, and you know I love gels because they work so well to help firm the skin above my crease. I decided to use my 20% off coupon to try this eye product. (Sorry I picked the wrong finger to demonstrate the product!)

Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Eye Concentrate is really a pre-treatment or booster “to defend against damage around the eye area”.  It’s kind of like a toner for the eye area (though it’s a gel cream) in that it enhances the benefits of whatever you put on top of it. It strengthens the skin to help fight off dryness, wrinkles and dark circles. Because it’s a gel, it helps tighten my skin.

Another thing that I love about it is that it is so hydrating, smoothing and soothing. I sometimes use it alone. Other times, I do layer another eye cream on top of it. It’s perfect for winter when you want some extra protection around the delicate eye area.

So what’s in it? Here’s what Shiseido lists as the key ingredients and their benefits:

  • “Bulgarian Rose Water, Aqua In Pool and Yeast Extract to protect and strengthen skin against damage and signs of aging.
  • ImuMoisture Extract™ helps enhance the effects of Ultimune Complex™ to strengthen the delicate skin around the eye area.
  • Powerful botanical blend of Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract, Shiso and Thyme maintains a healthy skin surface and protects against impurities.”

What the heck is “Aqua In Pool”???? Something must have been lost in translation!

Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Eye Concentrate is dermatologist and ophthamalogist-tested. It has no fragrance, and it is perfect for my ultra-sensitive eyes. It won the Allure Best of Beauty Award 2016.

The handy plastic pump bottle that I bought contains 0.54 oz./15 ml which is actually a surprise to me because the bottle makes it look like it contains more. 🙁 And it’s pricey at $67. Glad I had that coupon!

Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Eye Concentrate comes in 4 sizes from travel size at $37 on Ulta.com, the size I bought for $67, a 2.5 oz. bottle for $125, and the big Kahuna exclusive to Macy’s at $175 for 4 oz. It’s available at Ulta, Sephora, and department stores.

I’m very impressed with this unique booster for the eyes. I was hoping that Dermstore or Lovelyskin carried Shiseido because they both have frequent sales, but no luck. I will use my bottle judiciously and perhaps pick up a backup when and if Ulta has their holiday 20% off prestige sale.

What do you think about an eye booster? Any interest?
