Are you planning on shopping on Amazon Prime Days? They are next week, Monday and Tuesday July 15-16, but some of the sales may start the night before, so keep your eyes peeled.

I don’t know why, but I’ve never shopped Amazon Prime Days. However, this year, I may give it a go.

What Amazon Prime Days Are

If you haven’t shopped Amazon Prime Days before, here’s a quick primer. First, you have to be an Amazon Prime member. There are a number of key benefits to membership including free shipping, access to streaming Amazon Prime content, and free storage of photos on the Amazon cloud, just to name 3 biggies. If you’re not sure you want to be a Prime member, you can join and take advantage of the 30 day free trial, and then quit after Prime Days are over before you’re charged the membership fee. If you’re thinking of joining, I would do it right now rather than waiting till Monday.

Second, during Prime Days some, but not all, products are available at a significant discount, usually 25-40% off. However, be an informed shopper and check out the regular prices of items you’re interested in so you’ll know whether the sale price is actually a good deal or just the regular price.

How to Get Ready for Amazon Prime Days

Give some consideration to what you might want to buy. It could be an expensive product that you’ve been saving up for. Or maybe you’ll come across things that strike your fancy as you browse the sales.

If there are some products you’re interested in, add them to your Amazon Wish List so you can click over to see if they are going to be on sale.

Don’t dillydally. If something you want is on sale, don’t delay if you think the price is a good one. Some of the sales are for a limited time, like a few hours, or there may be only a limited number of products available and once they sell out, the deal is gone. So figure out what your priorities are, and stick to your plan.

Register to get notifications on Prime Days via the Amazon app, so you’ll have up to date info on the products you’re interested in. In the app, go to Settings > Notifications and turn on “Personalized Notifications”.

Putting Together A List

I’m starting to think about what I may want to pick up. I’m thinking about some big ticket items if there are worthwhile deals.

I have been dying for a Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer, but at $399 it is out of my price range. Last year, it was on sale during Prime Days for $100 off. I’m thinking that if they repeat or exceed that deal, I am ready to pounce.

Another hairdryer that I’ve heard great things about is the DryBar Buttercup Hair Dryer. It’s more traditional than the Dyson and half the price, so I am considering it too.

Two things that I am suggesting if you don’t own them already are the KitchenAid  mixer (5 quart, tilt head) and a Vitamix blender. I own them both, and I adore them. I love to cook, and both have made my life much easier.

I don’t have an InstaPot, and frankly I am not sure I want one. However, people who own them truly love them. If you’re looking for more meal prep shortcuts, think about the InstaPot.

My Cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffeemaker just bit the dust after 10 years, boo hoo. My previous one also lasted 10 years. It is truly a wonderful coffeemaker if you like to buy coffee beans like I do. It both grinds the beans and brews the coffee in one. I wish it had waited a day or two to die coz I would have checked that out during Amazon Prime Days. But I was desperate. I panicked and I ordered a new one online at Macy’s during that Black Friday in July sale and I got an additional 10% off via Ebates. I thought I got a great price at around $79 with the discount and the rebate. Unfortunately, it won’t be delivered for 11 days, and that’s unacceptable. I just checked Amazon for the Cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffeemaker, and the current price is $72 and I could get it in 2 days with free Prime shipping. I just called Macy’s to cancel my order placed a few hours ago, and the guy in the call center overseas told me it was too late to cancel. I have to call back after I get a notice that it has shipped, and then maybe they can cancel it through the shipper. Ugh. That doesn’t make me feel great about Macy’s.

Another item you need to know about is in the innovative, eco-friendly and affordable personal care category that I am curious to try because it’s new from one of my favorite artisan skincare brands, Humboldt Soap Company. Arice, the entrepreneur and owner of HSC, is always designing new products. One of the things most important to her is protecting the planet by cutting down on waste. She came up with a new shampoo in bar form so there’s no plastic bottle to worry about recycling.

Even the cellophane wrapper can be composted. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, sulfate-free, and it comes in two yummilicious scents, Mango Madness Shampoo Bar and Raspberry Shortbread Shampoo Bar. Just immerse the fragrant bar in water to create lather, lather up your hair, rinse and style. For many people, no conditioner should be necessary.

And while we’re at it, here’s another natural, cruelty-free, woman-owned bath and body business that you should check out, A Girl’s Gotta Spa!

Other items that I am thinking about are pricey beauty products, specifically skincare and fragrances. Fashion too! I am tempted by one of my luxury Korean skincare faves, Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream, and I discovered that Amazon even sells sets of five or ten 5ml mini-jars at affordable prices. Hmmm, I’m thinking about those mini-jars.

Do you plan to shop during Amazon Prime Days? If so, what’s on your list?
