Sign of Spring: Vitabath Spring Green Shower Gelee

Today I went into Boston for two pampering appointments. I passed the Public Garden on my way to my facial and my hair appointments. Though the Swan Boats haven’t returned to the pond yet, quite a few trees had tiny leaves sprouting on their branches. On St. Patrick’s Day. In Boston. Hmmm. Not normal.

The weather has been very warm this March. In fact, we’ve had a number of days in the 60s, and we recently made it over 70. Heck, it was almost 75 on Christmas Eve Day. So I’ve been in a spring-y frame of mind. No matter they say we may be getting a foot of snow on Sunday night.  😥

Spring means fresh scents. So I broke out the tube of Vitabath Original Spring Green Moisturizing Bath & Shower Gelée that I bought at Ulta a couple of months ago during their 20% off event.

During freshman year in college, my friend Cindy, now an art professor in Ohio who visited  me last weekend, introduced me to all things French. Vitabath was developed over 50 years ago by European skincare specialists. Cindy discovered Vitabath on one of her youthful trips to France, and continued to use it. I had never heard of any shower gel back then, and it was quite a step up from the bar soap I used. When it got hot in May in NYC, we used to go up on the roof of our dorm at Barnard on the Upper West Side to sunbathe. Hours later, all tanned (before I got wise to sunscreen), I’d come back down to my dorm room to shower off the soot from the New York roof! The fresh green scent of Vitabath Spring Green takes me right back to that spring semester freshman year. I still love the deep green gel and the bright green spring scent!

I have a million shower gels and creams in my bathroom, but this one has a special place among my memories.

Vitabath Spring Green Moisturizing Bath & Shower Gelee Experience creates a luxurious lather, but leaves my skin feeling moisturized (not tight and dry, but I always use lotion after a shower). The fragrance smells like soft pine mixed with patchouli and rosewood. The scent is one of the key features of this shower gel. If you don’t like scents, this isn’t for you.

The Vitabath website says it still has the original European formula, but I noticed when I examined the ingredient list that they removed the parabens that were in the old ingredient list. It’s fortified with antioxidants, biotin, my favorite ingredient Niacinamide, and enriched with Horse Chestnut Extract and other oils for skin conditioning benefits. Made in Canada.

Vitabath Original Spring Green Moisturizing Bath & Shower Gelee comes in travel size (2.1 oz./60 g) that I bought and in several different size pump bottles: 10.5 oz, 21 oz, 32 oz, 128 oz (gallon size). It’s available at Ulta, on the Vitabath website, at drugstore.com, on many other websites, and sometimes you can find it at Marshall’s/TJ Maxx. The Vitabath website sells the product in different product bundles (often with the matching lotion and bar soap) as well as individually, and during their frequent sale events you can really save.

Have you tried Vitabath Original Spring Green Shower Gelée?
