Sinful Colors SinfulShine’s Rio Flare Collection for Olympic Gold Medal Nails

We’re already in the second week of the 2016 Olympics in amazing Rio de Janeiro. I was lucky to get to go there many years ago on a business trip. I’ll never forget it because it was just that beautiful. When I was flying into Rio from Sao Paolo on a puddle jumper, it stopped raining as we approached the city. A gorgeous rainbow formed over the Christ the Redeemer statue as we flew over the city and landed at the airport. A miracle!

Although I wasn’t there during Carnevale, I visited right beforehand in January. Everything was in process of getting ready for Carnevale. Bright and beautiful colors were everywhere. Seeing the mini-Carnevale at the opening of the Olympics brought back memories.

Rio is all about color. Sinful Colors has used Rio’s Carnevale as inspiration for creating their gorgeous Rio Flare Collection from SinfulShine. The super-saturated, super shiny shades definitely capture the color of Carnevale and the bright spirit of the games.

I received 5 shades from the 7 shade line. Just enough to paint each of my nails a different shade. I love the festive look!

Here are the shades I’m wearing:

  • green: Rise and Shinier (limited edition)
  • coral: Picante
  • deep purple: Samba-dy to Love (limited edition)
  • hot pink: Pink Pintura (limited edition)
  • black: Dark Room (not sure if this is officially part of the Rio Flare Collection, but it goes well with the shades in the line)

The rest of the lineup includes:

  • tropical yellow: Bananappeal
  • vibrant blue: Most Sinful.

The Rio Flare shades went on easily. The applicator has a slim, normal brush that made application a breeze. The bright shades looked great after one coat, though I applied a second coat. But the dark shades: green, purple and black definitely need that second coat to look opaque.

SinfulShine is an At-Home Gel 2 Step Polish. There’s a SinfulShine Top Coat that would go on top of the shades to give them a blinding shine. It didn’t come in my package so I’ve gotta go to the retailers in my area, Walgreens, that carry Sinful Colors to pick it up.

SinfulShine shades and top coat are each priced at $2.99 which is a bargain for at-home gel colors! The Rio Flare Collection is available now, August 2016, in time for the Rio Olympics at drug and grocery stores throughout the U.S. such as Kroger, Safeway, Albertsons, Big Y, Price Chopper, Giant Eagle, Bartell Drug, Price Mart etc. Check out the Sinful website for the complete list of retailers.

What do you think of these bright, Rio-inspired shades?

And speaking of the Olympics, I’ve been enjoying watching the games since they started last weekend. In spite of a few problems, Rio is doing a generally good job as host. It’s been a thrill watching the athletes compete. The U.S. has been doing quite well in the medal department. Which events have you liked best?

  1. I only have a couple of nail polish from Sinful Colors and they are pretty decent. We have been really loving Olympics too! My favourites are gymnastic, diving, swimming and tracks. I’m not really into basketball, volleyball or football (soccer as you refer to it) but I managed to catch a couple of women rugby and surprisingly Canada did well and got a bronze. I was a little disappointed that Malaysian divers didn’t win any medals but better luck in the next Olympic.

    1. That’s too bad about the Malaysian divers. I am watching the same sports as you (also that’s what NBC is covering here), but I have watched the American women beach volleyball players because they’re so darn amazing. Although I think the TV coverage is worse than ever, I am still enjoying the Olympics. And I do love seeing the few scenes of Rio that they show.

    1. Did you get the gel topcoat, Marcia? I’ll check out your post to find out

      1. The top coat looks exactly like your black polish in the bottle so I bet someone put the black in by mistake and forgot the top coat.
