Even though last month I met my goal of using up 100 beauty products in 2019 (I’m at 101 actually), I’m back again with my empties from September. I’m hoping that maybe I can tack on an additional 25 products by year’s end.
Here’s what I used up last month:
- Neocell Ceramides Skin Hydrator (capsules): I started using these Ceramides capsules a couple of years ago, and I put them away when I was cleaning my bathroom and forgot about them. I had a few left, so I finished them up. Repurchase? Not right now. I am taking more pills for medical reasons so I don’t feel like adding more.
- Natrol Biotin: This is at least the 3rd bottle of Natrol Biotin that I’ve used up. I love the strawberry flavor of these dissolving tablets. And they work. Repurchase? I have another bottle of Natrol Biotin waiting in the wings, but if I can find them, I will try some biotin gummies that I got for free from CVS just to check them out.
- Paula’s Choice Resist Advanced Smoothing Treatment 10% AHA: I love this 10% AHA serum. This is the second bottle I’ve finished. And before using the 10% AHA, I started out with the 5%. Repurchase? At some point, I definitely will buy another bottle. But now I need to finish up some glycolic acid serum that I have, and Paula’s Choice has sent me a number of boosters that I need to use. If you’re looking for an AHA serum, I strongly recommend this one.
- Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum: I got Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum in one of my Ipsy Plus boxes, and I fell in love with it. I used it under my eyes to combat the fine lines that seemed to be showing up. It’s a lightweight gel serum. Great stuff! Repurchase? I couldn’t believe it when I went to buy it and discovered that the price is $85!!! As much as I love it, I can’t spend $82. I switched back to RoC Retinol Eye Cream instead.
- Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist: This delightful fragrance mist came in the Sol de Janeiro Jet Set trio that I bought at the beginning of the summer. It has the same yummy summer scent that’s in Bum Bum Cream. Repurchase? I did. I bought a second Jet Set. I love this scent!
- Mitchum Triple Odor Defense Antiperspirant: I mostly use Crystal natural deodorant, but for super hot days or very stressful situations, I like to have a traditional antiperspirant on hand. Over the years, I have bought lots of APs from Mitchum. Repurchase? I already have.
- Nature Island Botanicals Vegan Cold Process Soap, “Ocean” with ginger and bamboo oil: As you know, I adore Daphne’s handcrafted natural and organic bar soaps. Every year, I get one of her “Ocean” soaps with scallop shells either on top or on the slice. Repurchase? I bought another one – this year’s model – in August.
Expired Products that I’m Recycling
Sometimes because I receive so many products to test, I don’t get to finish cosmetics or personal care products that are excellent products. Often I put them away, and then forget about them. Such is the case with the products I am going to recycle, though unfinished.
- Mineral Fusion SPF 16 Brightening Eye Cream: In the summer especially, I am always on the hunt for an eye cream with SPF that I can wear near my sensitive eyes. I received the Mineral Fusion SPF 16 Eye Cream to test, several years ago. It is a very good brightening eye cream, but because it is made with mineral sunscreen, it is a rather heavy eye cream, in fact, a little too heavy for me. I have used up most of the tube over the years, but it is old at this point and I think I need to toss it.
- Darshana Natural Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner: I’m a huge fan of Darshana Indian Oil, so I was eager to try the new Darshana Natural Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner when they came out about 3 years ago, I think it was. They are very nice, but I prefer other shampoos and conditioners. I’ve used up about half of the shampoo, but less of the conditioner. When it comes to conditioner, JOICO does the best job on my coarse, dry hair so I’ve been sticking with it. And I have been using a new shampoo from Matrix that helps prevent color loss especially developed for delicate, easy to fade hair colors.
So, I finished up 7 more beauty products in September, bringing my current total of empties to 108. Also, I have a number of products that are almost empty, that I’ll surely finish up in October. Maybe I’ve got a chance of making 125 by year’s end! What did you use up last month?
BTW, check out the video from Renu from Cosmetopia Digest who started our Project Pan challenge, and see what she used up this month!

It’s great that you are continuing. I have a box that I’m filling with empties but who knows if I’ll write them up.

I adore the scent of the Rio de Janerio Crush!
