Skincare Goodies from Derma E & Sale!

This week, I received a box of skincare goodies from one of my favorite clean beauty brands, Derma E. And I noticed that right now Derma E is having a site wide sale:

  •  10% OFF $30+ CODE: EXTRA10
  • 20% OFF $50+ CODE: EXTRA20
  • 30% OFF $75+ CODE: EXTRA30

Here’s what was in my box:

Derma E Scar Gel

Derma E Scar Gel jar, neversaydiebeauty.com

Oh was I ever excited to get the jar of scar gel in my Derma E box ‘coz I definitely can use it! I received a jar of Derma E Scar Gel last year, but I gave it to Jeff to put on his scars from his bypass surgery on my leg.

Though the vascular surgeon did a good job with my neck scar (it’s quite straight though long) and my hair (when I’m not wearing a ponytail) covers it. Although I have tried to put sunscreen on my scar to protect it, my scar looks darker to me since the start of the summer. After using Derma E Scar Gel last year, Jeff had good results: his two scars were lighter and less visible.

So I will use the Derma E Scar Gel and see it is helps make a difference. Derma E says that 87% of respondents in an independent 4 week research study said that 85% reported improved scar texture. From using it just a couple of nights, it feels so cooling that it’s a pleasure to use. Here’s what Derma E says I can expect:

Clinically proven to improve scar texture, color, and overall appearance significantly, this refreshing gel softens, smooths and encourages healthy-looking skin.

Since I just started using Scar Gel, I can’t show you my results and I didn’t take photos of Jeff’s scars. But if you have a chance, go to the Scar Gel page on the Derma E website and check out the impressive results that you can clearly see in the Before and After pix of a young woman.

Scar Gel is supposed to be applied 2-3 times per day for 8 weeks for a new scar and 3-6 months for an older scar. Since my scar is 5 months old, I guess that puts me in a 3-6 month time frame.

The clear, naturally scented Scar Gel comes in a 2 ounce jar. The regular price of Scar Gel on the Derma E website is $22.50. It’s also sold on Amazon and many other online websites and in retail stores like Ulta, Whole Foods, Walgreens, CVS.com etc.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Glycerin (Vegetable Derived), Carbomer, Allium Cepa (Onion) Bulb Extract, Acetyl Glycyl Beta-Alanine, Allantoin, Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Natural Fragrance Oils

While I was researching info on Scar Gel, I noticed that Derma E makes a version with SPF 35. That’s what I need as well. I think I will take advantage of the sale and get myself a tube of Derma E Scar Cream with Sun Protection SPF 35 so I can use it during the day.

Derma E Acne & Deep Pore Cleansing Wash

Since I don’t have acne or clogged pores among my many skincare concerns, I gave the Acne Wash with Salicylic Acid to a neighbor with teens. She’s excited to get it.

Because I haven’t tried this particular cleanser myself, here list of benefits from Derma E’s website:

  • cleans away dirt, bacteria and built-up oil
  • targets blemishes while soothing skin
  • promotes exfoliation of dead skin cells to promote a vibrant glow

A 4 week consumer study with Acne Wash showed the following results:

  • 90% of respondents reported soothed skin
  • 87% reported that their skin looked clearer
  • 87% reported unclogged pores
  • 87% reported improved balance of skin oil
  • 83% reported reduced blackheads, whiteheads or milia

Like the other Derma E facial cleansers that I have and still do use, Acne & Deep Pore Cleansing Wash comes in a 6 fl. oz. pump bottle. The regular price on the Derma E website is $16.95.

Active Ingredient: Salicylic Acid 2% Inactive Ingredients: Purified Water, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine (Coconut Derived), Cocamidopropylamine Oxide, PEG-150 Distearate, Polysorbate 20, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Glycerin (Vegetable Derived), Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Aniba Rosodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Organic Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Decyl Glucoside (Plant Derived), Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin

Derma E Vitamin C Weightless Moisturizer with SPF 45

The third product in the box is a product I have tried previously from one of my favorite Derma E collections: Vitamin C. The Vitamin C Cleaner and the Vitamin C Serum are two staple products in my stash. But I have somewhat different feelings about Derma E Vitamin C Weightless Moisturizer with SPF 45.

Because this is a mineral sunscreen that uses Zinc Oxide 20% as its active ingredient in order to achieve SPF 45, it is, IMHO, a heavier sunscreen than chemical sunscreens or even mineral sunscreens with lower SPFs. In all honesty, I can’t call it a “Weightless” moisturizer. It feels heavy to me, and leaves my skin with a decided “glow” that I read as “greasy”. In addition, the white Zinc Oxide ingredient gives my skin a decidedly white cast that is hard to rub in. But those are my feelings, you may have a different experience.

Meanwhile, Derma E Vitamin C Weightless Moisturizer with SPF 45 has a multitude of benefits, so it may be worth trying:

  • Provides brightening protection
  • Deeply hydrates the skin
  • Stabilized Vitamin C helps to diminish the look of uneven skin
  • Visibly smooths the look of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Protects the skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays

Vitamin C Weightless Moisturizer with SPF 45 comes in a pump bottle with 2 fl. oz. and is priced at $23.95.

Active Ingredient: Zinc Oxide 20% Inactive Ingredients: Apium Gravelones (Celery) Seed Extract, Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) Leaf Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cocoglycerides, Diethylhexyl Succinate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Ethylhexyl Olivate, Glycerin, Isostearic Acid, Jojoba Esters, Lauryl Glucoside, Lecithin, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract, Natural Fragrance Oil, Niacinamide, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Purified Water, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Sodium Carboxymethyl Starch, Sodium Phytate, Sorbitan Trioleate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Titanium Dioxide, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Xanthan Gum

Derma E, A Clean Beauty Brand

Just as a reminder, Derma E has so many positives going for the brand:

  • Cruelty-free certified
  • 100% vegan
  • Dermatologist recommended
  • 100% recyclable plastic & carbon neutral
  • Derma E doesn’t use 2500+ “questionable” ingredients so it may be safer to use.

    1. Oh heck, I should have sent it to you, but I gave it to a neighbor who likes Derma E. Unfortunately, the Vit C Weightless Moisturizer isn’t quite weightless enough for me

My husband had unexpected surgery a month ago and has a long scar on his neck. It’s healing but it bothers him to see this. This Derma e scar gel looks absolutely perfect for him. I can’t wait to buy it for him.

    1. I’m so sorry to hear about Marty’s surgery, Marcia. I hope he heals quickly. Since his scar is relatively new, the scar gel may take less time, I hope.
