Skincare Ingredient Glossary and Ingredient-Based Product Recommendations

Allure is a great source of information for me on all things beauty. I often turn to Allure for new product information, product recommendations, how-to tips, and what’s new in anti-aging.

Skincare Glossary

Recently at allure.com, I found a terrific glossary of skincare ingredients and terminology, and I had to share it with you. There are new advances in skincare all the time. It can be hard to keep up with new ingredients and new language. I find myself googling new terms all the time, so I found it useful to bookmark the Allure Skincare Glossary and have it on hand for reference.

Allure contacted a number of dermatologists and researchers for their input on the definitions, and I think the definitions are concise, quite comprehensive and easy to understand. Here’s the link:

While the glossary may not have every obscure ingredient in the alphabet soup that we sometimes come across in the ingredient list of some skincare products, it does have the major ingredients that we see and read about most often these days.

On occasion, questions or concerns about an ingredient are mentioned, but primarily, the glossary merely offers definitions and stays away from controversy. Nevertheless, I think the glossary is a great resource and starting point. I hope you find it useful. What would you add to the list?

Key Ingredients for Your Skincare Arsenal

Now that we know what most of the key ingredients are and what they do, HuffPost in conjunction with The Oprah Network recommend five categories of products to include in your skincare arsenal:

  • retinoids
  • alpha hydroxy acids
  • hyaluronic acid
  • antioxidants
  • sunscreen

and why they’re important, along with a couple of specific product suggestions for each.

Now, we just need to find one product that does all those things!  Any recommendations??
