Sneak Peak: Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial

A few weeks ago, I got an unexpected, great surprise. Exuviance, one of my favorite skincare brands, sent me a hot-off-the-press, straight from the laboratory (for real, no kidding) new facial mask that hasn’t even been released yet! It arrived without a label in a lab-filled, undecorated, i.e. plain, white metal pump tube. How lucky to get the jump on everybody in trying out this new product!

So what’s different about this facial mask, you ask? Oxygen. I’ve been hearing about oxygen as an ingredient in some facial moisturizers and spa procedures. Oxygen aids in wound healing and is often used in dermatology for post-procedure or post-surgical skincare.  “Essential pure” oxygen revitalizes skin by boosting cellular energy as well as creating and optimizing collagen. It also contains another ingredient that I didn’t know by its abbreviation: PHA. I guessed that PHA is some kind of hydroxy acid that starts with a “P”, and it is. PHA stands for polyhydroxy acid, and I believe in this case, it refers to lactobionic acid, a skincare ingredient that Exuviance uses in a number of its products. In fact, lactobionic acid is in both the Exuviance Intensive Eye Pads (reviewed here) and in the NeoStrata Foaming Glyocolic Wash (made by the same company that makes Exuviance, reviewed here) that I recently reported on. Well, the new Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial Mask has 6% PHA in what Exuviance calls a “bionic blend”. The PHA provides anti-aging benefits like making skin plumper, more supple and radiant.

Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial energizes and detoxifies skin to restore a youthful, luminous complexion. It’s recommended for “post-peel” or “post-polish” use, or anytime you want a radiance boost. I can use that everyday! And I’m telling you, it definitely gives my skin an immediate brightness that’s just amazing. I’m just glowing after using it!

It’s very easy to use. After cleansing my face while my skin is still damp, I massage on a generous layer of the Exuviance Bionic Oxygen Facial that starts out as a light blue scent-free liqui-gel.

Over the course of about 5 minutes, and it turns frothy and oxygenated. The bubbles sort of pop and then disappear.

Then I rinse and apply my serum and moisturizer, and my skin just glows. The mask is meant to be used 3-4 times a week, and it’s really fun to use!

I know that it will be available on the Exuviance website, but when I checked tonight, it’s not there yet. Hopefully soon ‘coz this is a wonderful mask that you are definitely going to want to try!

I used something like this several years ago by Philosophy called the Oxygen Peel. It foamed too like you describe this mask doing. Pretty neat to get to try something hot off the presses! I will look for the release to the masses to see if the ingredients are similar to the one I used. I just received a One Time Only set of three different Peter Thomas Roth masks from QVC on easy pay. I tested the Rose Stem Cell one last night. I love face masks! It is the one thing I do to make myself feel spoiled!

    1. Glad to hear you’re on the “oxygen” bandwagon too, Laura! I have one from Radical Skincare that also foams and pops that I got about 18 months ago. I will go back and compare the ingredients with the new Exuviance mask too, – great suggestion! A Rose Stem Cell mask sounds lovely. I’ve had good luck with Peter Thomas Roth skincare, too.

  2. I’ve been loving bubbling treatments like that – there are lots to choose from especially among korean brands, and Malin+Goetz makes a nice one, too. I got this same pre-release bottle to try, and I agree – it’s fantastic! I bet it’s going to be a hit product 🙂

    1. I was so surprised when it came in the mail, Anastasia! I have a bubbling mask from Radical Skincare that I also like, and I’ve gotta go and compare the ingredients. This new one from Exuviance really makes my skin glow!! Glad you’re enjoying it too 🙂

  3. This sounds really nice, and definitely reminds me of the Radical Skincare and the Malin+Goetz masks that I have and love!

  6. This looks like something I would like to include on my spa day. It looks like great fun. I actually did not know oxygen masks existed. Honestly I just got into masks. I did not really care for the old fashion mask that harden on the face and then begin to feel like pro wrestlers are pulling your face to and fro. Oh how the face mask industry has grown.
