About a month ago, I received a beautiful wrapped package from a new-to-me Israeli company, Bloom Mineral Beauty.

Bloom skincare products are made with minerals derived from pure salt from the Dead Sea. They combine that salt with hydrating natural ingredients like palm oil, soy, olive oil, and natural herbs such as calendula, chamomile, and green tea that provide antioxidants. Plus they leave out ingredients like parabens and petroleum that some of us like to avoid. Their products are free of genetically modified ingredients, and they are cruelty-free.

Now that you know a little bit about the company, let’s focus on the products: Bloom Shielding Hand Cream and Foot Cream.

How I Keep My Hands Soft with Bloom Shielding Hand Cream

My hands are not chapped this winter, yahoo! By applying hand cream religiously and by always wearing gloves when I wash dishes and pots and pans, I’ve been able to keep dry chapped skin at bay. Bloom Shielding Hand Cream is formulated with a mixture of vitamins A, E, linoleic acid, and essential fatty acids to keep my hands feeling silky and smooth.  It also contains:

  • Glycine Soja (soy) contains significant amounts of all the essential amino acids and is a good source of protein. It is derived from soybean amino acids and is rich in protein, minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin E.
  • Glyceryl Stearate is derived from palm kernel. This lubricant easily penetrates the skin and slows the loss of moisture by forming a barrier on the skin’s surface.
  • Vitamin E concentrate added for deep moisturizing benefits.
  • Maris Sal (Dead Sea Salts) provides the highest concentration of  key minerals and nutrients providing optimal hydration, skin nutrition and delivering anti-aging results.

Bloom Shielding Hand Cream is a rich white cream that gets absorbed into my skin and truly does form a protective shield around my skin. Yet it is completely greaseless! My hands feel so good wearing this cream. It does have a significant fresh fragrance when it is applied, but it does fade rather quickly. (But if you are scent averse, this may not be for you.) If you don’t mind scent during application, this is a wonderful, highly protective hand cream. On sale on the Bloom Mineral Beauty website till 1/31/18, $10 for 3.4 fl. oz./100 ml.

My Foot Exfoliating Routine and Bloom Shielding Foot Cream

As I’ve gotten older, my feet are significantly drier especially in winter than I ever expected. Unfortunately, that means more care taking on my part, and sometimes I do get lazy about it. In the summer, the sand on the beach helps exfoliate dead skin and keep my callouses at bay, but during the winter, it’s on me to get it done. One thing I used to do routinely that was so effective was the Listerine and Vinegar Foot Soak. I wrote about it here. It’s so inexpensive and easy especially if you keep a plastic tub handy to do it in. My plastic tub currently contains cosmetics that I need to find another place to store, so I can pull out my tub and soak my feet. It’s both relaxing and highly effective.

The other important feature of my foot care routine is using my Amope Foot File (reviewed here). I bought the extra strength version with coarse grain on the rotating file. It is so quick and easy to use. It gets off stubborn dry skin and keeps callouses from getting out of control. It kicks up quite a cloud of white as it files off my dead skin, so I always do it in the bathroom sitting on the edge of the tub.

On rare occasions when I don’t have time for my Amope, I use my glass foot file from Mont Bleu (reviewed here). Although not as full strength as the Amope, it does a good job in its own right and is perfect for use in-between major foot filing.

After exfoliating my feet, I apply Bloom Shielding Foot Cream and then put on cotton socks or bed socks that are impregnated with additional softeners. In fact, I apply Bloom Shielding Foot Cream and socks every night in the winter to help my feet stay soft.

Like the Shielding Hand Cream, it is a rich white cream that absorbs quickly, penetrates deeply and is greaseless. The foot cream is fragrance-free!!! It contains the following natural ingredients:

  • Glycine Soja (soy) contains significant amounts of all the essential amino acids and is a good source of protein. It is derived from soybean amino acids and is rich in protein, minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin E.
  • Glyceryl Stearate is derived from palm kernel. This lubricant easily penetrates the skin and slows the loss of moisture by forming a barrier on the skin’s surface.
  • Calendula with natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties reduce foot fatigue.
  • Aloe Vera with high concentrations of Vitamin C & E provide hydration, while it’s natural anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory benefits work to kill bacteria and sooth the skin
  • Maris Sal (Dead Sea Salts) provides the highest concentration of  key minerals and nutrients providing optimal hydration, skin nutrition and delivering anti-aging results.

Also like the Hand Cream, the tube contains 3.4 fl. oz./100 ml and is currently on sale on the Bloom Mineral Beauty website for $10 till 1/31/18. So act fast! Bloom Mineral Beauty also makes a slew of facial skincare and body care products including a yummy sounding Hydrating Almond Scrub and Purifying Mud Mask!
