Softer Skin for the Holidays with Indie Lee Moisturizing Oils

Brrrrr, there was frost on the grass this morning! The temperatures went below freezing last night again. I guess there’s no stopping this winter thing. So I’m trying to get ready for the dryness that cold weather brings and keep my skin in good shape for the holidays.

I love oils, and recently I received Indie Lee Patchouli Sandalwood Moisturizing Oil to try out. I adore both scents – patchouli and sandalwood – and some ylang ylang has been added to the heady brew.

But in case you’re not as big a patchouli and sandalwood fan as I am, Indie Lee Moisturizing Oils come in two other scents:  Lavender Chamomile and Vanilla Citrus, both of which can be used as a natural insect repellent. Pretty cool, huh?

Since I’ve got Patchouli Sandalwood Moisturizing Oil, let’s talk about that one. The golden blend of Pogostemon Cablin (patchouli) and Santalum Album (sandalwood) does a bunch of good things besides smell good:

  • decreases inflammation
  • evens skin tone
  • relieves stress
  • helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Patchouli Sandalwood Moisturizing Oil is described on the Indie Lee website as: “A hydrating, all-purpose oil… Formulated with jojoba oil which is closest to the skin’s natural sebum, apricot oil to soothe and hydrate, and sandalwood, known for its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. Ideal for all skin.”

What’s also cool about this oil is it can be used on the face, body and hair. I use the Indie Lee Patchouli Sandalwood Moisturizing Oil primarily after shower on my body when my skin is feeling dry and also when I need to de-stress. I pump a few drops into my hands and apply to my damp skin to moisturize as well as to seal in moisture. I plan to try it on my hair after shampooing soon because my hair can always use more moisture to tame flyways and because the scent is fabulous.

Indie Lee Moisturizing Oils come in elegant, slim, heavy glass, clear pump bottles. Each contains 4 oz. and is priced at $36. The bottle is huge. And I only use a few drops at a time. This beautiful bottle will last me quite a while!

Indie Lee started her all-natural, vegan skincare collection after she was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was attributed to environmental toxins. In 2009, she began work on her extensive line of “eco-chic” products. And she’s dedicated to helping educate people about safety in the skincare products they use. In addition to information on her products, the Indie Lee website has a list of “good ingredients” and what they do, and “bad ingredients” to avoid and why. Definitely visit these lists by clicking on the links. They’re eye-opening! Look at the ingredient list for the product I’m using. There are no fillers, nothing scary-sounding, just natural oils. Love this!

Ingredients: Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (apricot) Oil, Essential Oils of Pogostemon Cablin (patchouli), Santalum Album (sandalwood), and Cananga Odorata (ylang ylang)

Indie Lee all-natural, vegan skincare products including the Moisturizing Oils can be purchased on the Indie Lee website, Saks.com, dermstore.com, BeautyBrands.com, and at more than 50 stores throughout the world including Space NK. Indie Lee products are cruelty-free and certified under the Leaping Bunny program.

    1. Yes, use it on your hair and body. Even though the moisturizing oil I got is supposed to be for face as well, I think it’s too highly fragranced (even tho’ it’s a natural essential oils) to put on my face. But it smells so good. I used it today after my shower, and it smells great and is a definite stress-reducer.

  20. These sound right up my alley. I love different kinds of oils and especially oil blends for my face. I always use the extra on my hands after rubbing into my face at night!

    1. Indie Lee has an extensive product line that includes about a zillion different oils. Even though this one is supposed to be for face, body or hair, I think it’s too fragrant for my face. But she has a lot of others, e.g. squalene, rosehip, that I’d like to try as face serum. I think that’s great that you use your extra serum on your hands at night. I’ve started doing that with my retinol serum in the hope it might fade all the sun damage from years on the beach forgetting to put sunscreen on my hands.

  21. I have been loving oils and this sounds so great. I’d be all over the vanilla-citrus scent.

  22. frost? It’s still in the 80s here in Florida. What I would give for a little cooling off. lol. I’m not as fond of patchouli as you are, but the vanilla citrus sounds great. And anything that can keep the bugs off me is awesome. They love me. And they don’t die here.

  23. I love Sandalwood and Patchouli, this oil sounds wonderful. I’d love to use it on my dry shins

    1. It would be perfect for your shins! And if you like patchouli and sandalwood, I think you would like it

  24. I have a hard time with scents and may not like this one… but at least I have different scents I can choose from. This sounds great.

    1. Yes, this scent is definitely for patchouli/sandalwood scent lovers like me. Although the scent fades after a couple of minutes, it’s a big burst at the beginning. I was hoping I could use it also as perfume oil, but unfortunately the scent doesn’t last that long and there’s almost no silage.

    1. That sounds like a great tip for winter, Dorota, to add a drop of oil to foundation! Thanks for the idea

  28. Maria says:

I recently bought this to use after my showers but I feel like I have to use so much to cover my whole body. I see in your review that you only use a few drops, though. Can you shed some light on how you apply? I don’t want to waste a great product because of user error!

    1. What a great question, Maria! I do use more than a few drops, but I don’t use a ton. I use a few drops for each portion of my body: each arm, each leg, front and then back of torso. I apply body oil while I’m still wet or at least damp from the shower. That way the oil glides on and sort of helps seal in the moisture from my shower. Also the oil goes a longer way than if I apply it over dry skin. I hope this method will work for you too!
