Spring 2018 Ulta 21 Days of Beauty

Ulta was really slow getting their catalogue out to announce their Spring 2018 21 Days of Beauty. I finally got my catalogue on Saturday. Actually, I had seen the calendar online the day before, and I formed some first impressions. Actually, I thought it wasn’t much. But being able to study it up close with the catalogue in hand made me change my mind a bit about it.

I am too lazy to type in the offerings for all of the 21 days. Sorry.

To be honest, I will not be buying much this time because there is so little I need. On Saturday, I took advantage of the 17% off St. Patrick’s sale and free shipping at Paula’s Choice to buy the Resist Skin Restoring Moisturizer SPF 50 (reviewed here) that I needed. Though I still like the LaRoche-Posey Toleriane Moisturizer with SPF 30 that I wrote about here, the Paula’s Choice daytime moisturizer is lighter weight with a higher SPF, and it will be better for the warmer weather, if spring ever gets here.

When I look at the products in the Spring 21 Days, they seem more like staples to me rather than products that we might be dying to try. I already own or have tried a lot of the products in this season’s sale lineup.

I may buy:

  • butterLONDON Glazen Eye Gloss, $12, on April 2 because it’s a creamy mousse, and I’ve wanted to try it for ages
  • even though I don’t love it as much as the old formula that didn’t have an applicator and was a better color corrector, Urban Decay Anti-aging Primer Potion is probably worth picking up at half price, $12 on April 5 especially since I’ve almost finish up my last tube of the old formula.

So that’s it for me.

However, there are still a lot of good products that I can recommend if you haven’t tried them yet.

  • March 23: Urban Decay shadow singles for $10 – a good opportunity to pick up one or two that you might have been wanting
  • March 23: Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 (reviewed here): I own this, and it is a terrific, professional-grade but very pricey exfoliator. At $38.50, it’s a bargain.
  • March 25: IT Cosmetics Performance In A Compact SPF 50: If you have skin that’s on the dry side, this easy to apply, nourishing, medium to full coverage foundation is very nice (reviewed here). At half price $19, I think it’s worth trying if you can find a decent shade match. My only problem with it is that the shade I chose is a bit too light and too yellow for me, and that was the closest to my skin tone.
  • March 26: BECCA Backlight Priming Filter & First Light Priming Filter, $19 each: I tried a travel size First Light (the purple one), and if you like that ethereal glow kind of thing, it’s a good opportunity to buy it at half price.
  • March 27: Stila Convertible Lip & Cheek Cream: Because I’m such a fan of creams for my dry skin, I LOVE this product that I use only as blush. In fact, I have a palette of 4 shades (reviewed here). If you like cream blush, this is worth buying at half price, $12.50.
  • March 29: Benefit Roller-Lash Super-Curling and Lifting Mascara: This is one of my favorite mascaras. I recently reviewed it here. At $12, it’s a steal.
  • March 30: Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads: A longtime classic, the Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads are at a good price during the sale, $22.50. They’ve got a nice mix of acids to exfoliate your skin.
  • March 31: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Skinny Brow Pencil: I’ve got one of these in an auburn shade, and I really like it. $10.50, half price, is a good time to try it.
  • April 3: StriVectin Power Starters Tightening Trio: This travel size trio includes my favorite neck cream as well as Tightening Serums for Eyes and for Face, $44.50.
  • April 5: Most people love all of the Urban Decay Eye Primers. At half price, $10-12, try one now!
  • April 7: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: Though I am not a fan of the wand or the formula, the rest of the world is. At half price, $11.50, it’s a good time to try it or to stock up.

So those are my recommendations. Not super exciting IMHO, but some good products that could become your favorites.

What’s on your list? Or are you going to sit this one out?

  1. Wow, Ulta seems to have amazing deals and I can see why some prefer it to Sephora!

    1. I can’t believe that Ulta hasn’t expanded into Canada yet. Their loyalty program is so far superior to Sephora, their sales and coupons are more frequent, and it is cool to have both mass and high end products together.

  2. The Tarte Mascara and UD singles are great deals. Lights, Camera, Lashes is my favorite mascara, so I might pick up a couple of those. That’s pretty close to drug store price!

    1. You’re right, Rachel! I’ve tried the travel size Lights, Camera, Lashes and it’s a good one. Though not my personal favorite because of the wand and my wonky lashes, I should have mentioned it – and I think it was on sale yesterday 🙁

  3. DiEtta says:

Waving Hi 🙋🏻 I got my catalog on Saturday too. Always look forward to getting it. Getting ready for the worse storm of the season here in California. Lots of rain 🌧 coming on Tuesday-Friday. Have a good week everyone. ❤️🌺🌸🌼

    1. DiEtta, I think it’s fun to get the Ulta 21 Days catalogue just to look through it whether I buy anything or not. Same with the rest of the catalogue. I love to see what’s new! I am so sorry to hear about the big rainstorm coming to California. You folks have had more than your fair share of devastating weather. I hope you and your family will be safe, and that your home won’t be damaged! We’re having our fourth Nor’easter in 3 weeks starting on Wednesday. Not normal. I am hoping that my power will stay on, and that there won’t be any damage. I’m sick of the snow and cold temperatures, but as long as the electricity stays on and the house is OK, I’m OK with it. Fingers crossed for both of us xoxo

  4. They are definitely offering lots of great deals, as usual, but I doubt that I will be shopping the event either– because I don’t see anything that I need, or really want. It is the perfect time to stock up, though!

    1. I may take a chance on the butterLONDON Glazen Eye gloss coz it looks like fun, and I would never buy it at the full price. But other than that, I’ll probably pass on everything. I may spring for the UD AA Eye Primer just because I can’t figure out another one to buy for my dry red eyelids. 🙁

  5. Sandy Pincombe says:

As I said, nothing is saying “buy me”. And that’s a good thing. I will pick up a couple of things at a local superstore as I have a $10 coupon and a $5 coupon at Walgreens. That will get both products at half price!

    1. Isn’t it a good feeling, Sandy, when nothing is calling out to you? Much better to use the coupons that you have for stuff you want or need! I will go to Ulta and take a look at the butterLONDON cream shadow and cream blush. I don’t need either one, but I have been curious about them for ages. At 50% off, I may take the plunge for one of them. BTW, do you have an eye primer that you really like? I am almost finished with the tube of the old Urban Decay Antiaging Eye Primer that I adore, but I am not so crazy about the “new” (2-3 years old) version of it. I have been trying to find a replacement for it for my super dry, red eyelids, but I haven’t really found anything. I’m looking for suggestions!

  6. I also don’t think I’m going to buy much, maybe I’ll take this opportunity to finally try the Roller Lash mascara. Butter London’s gelee blush are also on sale during the entire event and I might try that too – I love a good cream blush.

    1. Hmmm, now which should I get the butterLONDON glazen eye gloss or the gelee blush – I’m going to have to go and look at them both. I think that RollerLash is really worth trying. I love it.

  7. I don’t think that I’ll be buying very much. I’ve been on an extreme low buy and I’m trying to behave myself.

    1. There really wasn’t much that was tempting this time.

  8. Like you I’m not interested in much.

    1. Just think of all the money we’ll save!

  9. The only think I really want is the Benefit Roller Lash. My lashes love that stuff. I’m surprised I didn’t get a flyer.

    1. If I didn’t have one already waiting in the wings, I would get one too. I didn’t get my catalogue till Saturday. I think Ulta was somewhat off this year. Welcome home, Marcia!

  10. I put the tarte mascara in my cart last time but due their bad shipping prior, I thought “never mind”. I can’t wait for them to open here in Oahu.I know spring or summer this year

    1. You will really like having an Ulta store nearby!

  11. There are a couple of things I might be interested in. I wish they would include more new products in this sale. I see a lot of the same things year after year.

    1. I agree completely, Kristina. I was hoping that Benefit might include their new mascara rather than Roller Lash even though I really like it. We definitely need some new stuff!

  12. The March 24th Purity Wipes and Micellar are tempting. I LOVE the wipes and want to try the Micellar. I’m also tempted by the March 31st Mario Badescu, I’d totally stock up on the spray that I love from him.

    1. The Mario Badescu is a good sale that Ulta tends to have a couple of times a year. That brand needs more publicity coz it’s so good! I am not familiar with Purity. I will check it out!
