Spring Fever

I have no right to complain because, tho’ my yard has more snow than anyone else in the ‘hood, it hasn’t been a bad winter. In fact, winter hasn’t really even started yet. Maybe it’s the temps in the 40s and the melting snow that’s doing it, but I feel like spring is right around the corner rather than 3 months away!

“nothing to disclose”

Sightings of the new makeup colors for Spring 2013 are increasing my spring fever even more. The colors I’ve seen so far look like jelly beans and Easter eggs. Not a surprise that I adore the new polish shades from butter London Sweetie Shop Collection. Don’t those colors look like spring? I want all of ’em! Priced at $15 a bottle.

And I’m in love, love love with Lancôme In Love Spring Color Collection! The colors are so bright and cheerful, and the packaging is adorable and sophisticated at the same time. The blush comes in two shade pairs: each compact has one shade for color and another for sculpting…though you could also mix the two:

  • Pommettes D’Amour (“cheekbones of love”?? shown below left) with pink and peach blushes for paler skintones
  • Peche Joue-Joue (“peach cheek, cheek”) with two different shades of peach for darker skintones.

The compact has a cute, removable mirror under the lid. Price is $49.

The Lancôme Baume In Love is a limited edition neon, translucent balm in 4 shades: Rose (shown at left), Coral Electric, Midnight Rose, and Urban Ballet. Each is $26. Although the colors look super-bright, in reality it appears to be semi-sheer color that will look a little different on different skin tones.

I am so dying to try Lancôme Kohl In Love (shown below). It is truly spring on a stick, with flowers on a clean white background.

Kohl is a type of black eyeliner traditionally used by women in India, but Lancome’s modern kohl has been updated and formulated to glide on and is smudge-proof. It comes in 3 hyper-pigmented shades: Chocolate Affair, Deepwater Blue and Jade Crush that looks a lot like Pantone’s Color of 2013: emerald. Each stick is $26.

Finally, my last passion is Dior Cherie Bow Palette. This sweet Dior-bow-shaped compact looks like it is right out of Paris. It’s both vintage and modern in timeless shades of pink and white. The compact is filled with shadows in shades of pink and grey, a black eyeliner, a nude shimmering

gloss, and two applicators. The perfect collection to do a smoky eye, a cat eye or a spring-y subtle daytime look. $80.

Although it’s still three weeks till we find out if the groundhog sees his shadow, I am already planning my spring makeup purchases. What has caught your eye?
