Stila Holiday Travel Palette: Under the Mistletoe

I seemed to have acquired a lot of new eye shadow palettes recently. And I have come to the conclusion that spending more on eye shadow can make a difference. I don’t really feel that way about mascara, but the more expensive eye shadows are so much more velvety, easier to apply, and generally  — though not always — wear longer.

I Bought This

That said, I managed to take advantage of the Stila Cosmetics Warehouse Sale in December and for $12 plus $5 shipping, I got:

  • an eye shadow duo with a mascara
  • an eyeliner in a gorgeous shade of periwinkle blue that broke 🙁
  • a palette that I adore, Under the Mistletoe, that was originally $16

So, on sale, each product cost me about $4. What a steal, except for the eyeliner that I had to throw away after only using it twice.

I posted news of the sale on my Facebook fan page, but next year, I’ll post  a list of the good makeup sales on the blog.

While it’s unlikely that Under the Mistletoe is available at this point since I think it was part of the Holiday 2012 collection (but it was brand new and in perfect condition), Stila has a number of little palettes that are great for travel because they are like skinny little books, with thick, shiny cardboard covers. The Under the Mistletoe palette, with clear panels to show off the shades, is made up of neutrals. It comes with 6 small eye shadow pans and a beautiful product in a clay shade that can be applied to cheeks or lips. The eye shadows are a combination of mattes and a couple of pearls ranging from off white to deep brown with the others in various shades of pink/mauve. So pretty and so versatile! (I’m not going to swatch them since the palette is not available.)

In this photo, I used the off white in the corner, light pink toward the corner, mauve in the center, and the darker mauve in the outer corner and crease. I used the blush from the palette, too. The mascara was from the other Stila product I bought. And the lipstick is Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Protest, a beautiful nude that looks more peach under this yellowish light.

Check out the current palettes from Stila. There’s the Masterpiece collection for $29, with three different “volumes”, each in a different shade family, for eyes/cheeks, and the “Portrait of” series, each $16 for eyes, lips, or cheeks. They are so cute and handy. I’m sure you’ll find something you like.

The great thing about buying Stila products during their Warehouse Sale is that they are soooooo cheap! I paid either $3 or $4 for the palette, and I adore it. Sign up for email from Stila and you’ll get an email next time they have a big sale. Thanks for your comment, Kimmy 🙂
