About a year ago, I followed a thread in a makeup artist and makeup enthusiast group I belong to on Facebook about long-wear lipstick. Over and over again, MUAs mentioned Stila Stay All Day as one of the long-lasting lippies they recommended for brides because of the incredible staying power. I don’t know why I didn’t head right out to buy it. Instead, I tried CoverGirl and Maybelline long-lasting liquid lipsticks instead (reviewed here). Though those two were OK, they weren’t perfect. Either they weren’t truly long-lasting, or they dried out my already dry lips.
We’re almost at the end of Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty for Spring 2015, and I had already put together my Wish List. Somehow, I had neglected to add Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lipgloss that was on sale for half off. Even though I was crazy busy last Thursday, I managed to run out to Ulta and pick up the gorgeous Scarlet. This shade is all that. It’s a deep, true red. I adore the color.
My major concern with Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lipgloss was whether it would be drying to my sensitive lips. I can report after wearing it just about every day since I bought it, that IT IS NOT AT ALL DRYING!! In fact, it feels almost hydrating!
Stila describes the lipgloss as follows: “A high-shine, high pigment, high performance lip gloss that gives the appearance of a bold, lacquered lip. Unlike other long-wearing formulas, Stay All Day® Vinyl Lip Gloss won’t dry out lips thanks to the infusion of nourishing and moisturizing ingredients including seaweed extract and organic green coffee oil.”
Wow, does this baby last! The gloss lasts for hours. If I don’t eat or drink anything, the glossy effect will stay for more than 6 hours. I can’t believe it, but it does. Eating a complete meal will cause it to fade, but the color is still there on my lips. This is what it looked like yesterday after 10 hours and after eating dinner (guacamole & chips, chicken cacciatore and salad with oil and balsamic vinegar dressing).
My only recommendation, that I myself must heed next time I wear it, is to apply lipliner first. Although it has a slim doe-foot applicator, lipliner would make it easier to create a smooth line. Even more important, lipliner would help prevent it from feathering. After many hours of wear without a touchup, it does settle into my lip lines.
Nevertheless, if you are looking for a non-drying liquid lipstick or gloss that really does stand the test of time, I recommend Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lipgloss. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I love it!

I finally got to Walgreens last night. I decided on Jordana Twist & Shine Fresh Fig and Nude Chic plus a Modern Matte in Classy. I also got from Amazon another shade in the Maybelline Vivids line…Shocking Coral. Not too wowed by this blind buy shade. More of an intense, matte, chalky looking pink lacking the shine and moisture of Electric Orange which surprised me. Forgive this description but it looks like it belongs on a corpse to me or Malibu Barbie. LoL I have Maybelline Rebel Bloom lipstick in Lilac Flush arriving from Amazon today. I checked this shade out while I was in Walgreens and love how it looked in the tube… thankfully. A pastel, creamy looking shade of purple. Perfect for Easter and Spring.

I was surprised recently that Fresh Fig has much more purple in it than I originally saw/thought, but I still love it and wear it a lot. I hope it will suit you! I haven’t seen Nude Chic yet, but I’ll look for it. I love all the Modern Mattes and I think Classy is one that I often wear too. You’d think I would remember the shade names but I don’t!! It does, Mala, in the photo. In person, the Stila Scarlet Vinyl looks like red with a hint of brown. But on the lips, it’s a true classic red. It’s a gorgeous shade if you’re a red wearer 🙂

I think so, too, Renu. It really did leave a lot of color on my lips even after 10 hours. i’ve been trying to remember to use lipliner to prevent the feathering that happens after it begins to fade.

This Vinyl line may have a different formula from the Stile matte glosses. The Scarlet Vinyl is very hydrating and extremely comfortable to wear. I was on the hunt for a red so I didn’t really look at the other options. Is Beso one of the Vinyl shades?
