StriVectin Active Infusion Youth Serum: The Pink Powerhouse

Serums are my jam. I can’t get enough. I wish I had discovered them when I was young, but they are a fairly recent addition to the skincare game. I thought that a moisturizer or anti-aging moisturizer could do it all, but a serum, lighter weight to get down deeper into the skin itself, really can do things that a moisturizer alone cannot.

A couple of months ago, a received a pretty pink serum bottle from StriVectin, their new Active Infusion Youth Serum. The name alone would make me take notice. The product itself is eye-catching in a clear pinky-purple translucent plastic tube with pump dispenser that allows you to see the microbeads suspended in the serum. The microbeads (the good kind that don’t hurt the environment) contain StriVectin’s powerhouse patented ingredient, NIA-114, this time in an encapsulated, super-concentrated form that allows the ingredient to work even harder than in the regular form. NIA-114, a version of one of my favorite ingredients niacinamide, is clinically proven to strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier, halt the bad effects of environmental pollutants and help skin act younger. When you pump out some of the serum, it squashes the NIA-114 microbeads and allows them to combine with the serum to potentiate the effects of the other anti-aging ingredients: collagen- and elastin-enhancing peptides, bio-technically derived algae, lipids, and antioxidants. It all sounds very scientific, and I am more than happy to use innovative skincare products on my skin.

I’ve been using this serum twice a day since I got it at least 8 weeks ago, and I’ve used up about half of the bottle so far. Some of the benefits I can actually see, and others I trust are working behind the scenes. This is what StriVectin says Active Infusion Youth Serum delivers:

  • Visibly smooths lines, firms and unifies overall texture
  • Instantly infuses skin with sophisticated luminosity
  • Clinically proven to strengthen the skin barrier 2x*.

This is what I can see myself after using the product: my skin’s texture is smoother and firmer. If it weren’t for my crow’s feet giving my age away (I don’t use this near my eyes), I’d say the rest of my skin looks and feels quite youthful. It also gives my skin a nice glow that I really appreciate in the depths of winter (we just are in the midst of a Nor’easter on April 1!). I’m impressed, but then I usually have good results with StriVectin skincare products. I would say that this serum has made it into my pantheon of StriVectin favorites along with the neck cream/gel/serum roller, the anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner and Overnight Resurfacing Concentrate!

The serum is a lightweight colorless gel that absorbs quickly. My only eensy-weensy complaint is that I don’t love the scent that I think is one or more of the ingredients – it doesn’t have a floral masking scent. Luckily, it dissipates completely once it’s on my face.

StriVectin Active Infusion Youth Serum is a bit of an investment at $89 for 1 oz. As I mentioned, I am about halfway through and I’ve had it for at least two months so I think it is a good value in terms of performance and lastingness. Plus StriVectin’s website has good sales from time to time as do a number of the retailers who carry it. Check it out on the StriVectin website, and put this serum on your list! It’s also available at Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Saks, dermstore and other fine stores.

    1. It is sooooo appealing. The fragrance is definitely no biggie, but I thought I should mention that it’s there initially.

Glad to know this serum is the same quality I’ve grown to expect from Strivectin. If I could just stop the impulse buying I’d be able to get this and the neck cream, lol. I know eventually I will see a sale at the right time and get them.I’m really glad to hear it’s lasted this long, that’s a big consideration when buying at their price points. Thanks for the great review Allison. 🙂

    1. Get the neck cream when it’s half off during the Ulta 21 Days sale on Wednesday. I don’t think I screwed that one up, Laura!! I think it’s for everyone this time. I love this serum, but 50% off my fave neck cream is too good to pass up if you’re a fan.

  4. I like the products that I’ve used from this line in the past. I might try this too seeing that you’ve had some good results with it. Thanks for the review!

  6. I’m always intrigued by StriVectin products. A serum is my most loved skincare product (along with eye cream) so I think this sounds great, especially if the scent fades down.

  10. Though expensive, I think skincare is pretty much worth it if it’s formulated well since anti-aging should be just as much about prevention as it is treatment!

  11. Great to know that they’re made of non-toxic microbeads. The bottle is really!

    1. Yes, when I saw the beads at first I worried, but the way the pump is designed the beads get smashed and liquified and they end up on my face as serum. Very cool.

  12. It sounds wonderful in addition to what I imagine is being darned pretty on the vanity.

  15. I used this off and on for a few weeks but I feel like it was making me break out. I’ll have to give it another go to see if it was the culprit. Glad to hear you are really liking it though.

    1. Everyone’s skin is different so if it doesn’t suit you, steer clear! I wish it were possible to always figure out what is the ingredient(s) that’s the culprit so we could avoid that ingredient in the future. Unfortunately, except that I know that peppermint oil bothers me, I can never figure out the other ingredients that are problematic.

      1. I wholeheartedly agree!! It’s very frustrating.
