StriVectin All Smooth for Frizz-Prone Hair: Anti-Frizz Haircare

Several months ago, I told you about StriVectin’s new haircare line for Color-Treated Hair. I got hooked. StriVectin became my go-to shampoo and conditioner. And I used the protective spray this summer to help keep my hair from fading.

Unfortunately, I finished up the shampoo for color-treated hair last month, and I was very sad indeed. I’ve only got a little more of the conditioner. Isn’t it always the way that you finish up one bottle before the other?

In spite of the fact that I have a ton of other shampoos and conditioners, StriVectin Haircare for Color-Treated Hair won my heart. I was just looking for deals to repurchase, when I lucked out big time. I was sent four products from new StriVectin’s All Smooth for Frizz-Prone Hair to try out. Protecting my expensive color and keeping the frizz down are my two big concerns when it comes to my hair. And fortunately, new StriVectin All Smooth is safe for color-treated hair, too.

I’ve used the StriVectin All Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner as well as the Frizz Control Mist several times so far, and I have a good feel for them. The Shampoo and Conditioner were designed to fight frizz and flyaway. The Frizz Control Mist were designed to repair damaged hair cuticles and protect against frizz from heat damage and also from humidity. I was also sent an Overnight Anti-Frizz Serum that I haven’t tried yet. Truth be told, I dislike haircare products that you’re supposed to use overnight because I hate going to bed with stuff on my hair and having to sleep in a shower cap. Also, my hair is more coarse than frizzy so I will probably give this product away to someone who needs it and who would enjoy it more especially since this is pricey stuff.

StriVectin All Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner

StriVectin All Smooth Shampoo is creamy white and has little to no smell. There must be some scent but it is very faint and innocuous. The shampoo lathers very lightly. There’s not a lot of suds, but there’s enough for me to feel like it’s cleaning though suds are not required to actually clean the hair (it’s just that I’m used to suds from the days of using sulfate shampoos). It rinses clean, and it even gives me a slight squeak so I feel like my hair is clean (I know, it’s unnecessary but I’m old school).

The Conditioner also is creamy white, and it has little to no discernible scent. It washes out with no issues.

StriVectin All Smooth Frizz Control Mist

I wouldn’t exactly call the Frizz Control Mist a mist. It has a spray, but the stuff itself is a cloudy serum. It’s very similar to It’s A 10 or Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle that I usually use. I sprayed it on my hair after towel drying it. I either ran my fingers through my hair or just combed it through. It has no scent.

Results and Final Thoughts

My hair is probably more coarse than it is frizzy. When it’s humid out, my hair tends to lose its straightness and get kind of huge. But now that it’s late autumn, there isn’t much humidity like there is during the summer. So I can’t say I’ve given this All Smooth trio the torture test as yet.

Nevertheless, my hair was very manageable and very soft. I have to flat iron my coarse hair no matter what products I use or it won’t be straight and sleek, the way I like it to be. So I flat ironed my coarse hair after drying it. And it came out straight and sleek and stayed that way for 4 days till my next shampoo. Last night, the fourth time I’ve used this trio, it was on the warm side, somewhat humid and raining hard. I went out to dinner to friends’ house with Jeff. My hair stayed nice and straight and smooth despite the weather. So success!

I like this new line from StriVectin just as much as I liked the Color-Treated line. Plus with All Smooth, I get anti-frizz in addition to being safe for my color-treated hair. Looks like I just found my new favorite haircare line!

  1. If I thought Tigi is expensive this brand is wayyyy more out of my price range. I have no doubt these work well though, Strivectin is an amazing brand.

    1. Definitely, pricey! I am lucky to have received it for testing. Sometimes when it’s my own $, I splurge on the shampoo and then use an Infusium conditioner that I love for $4.99.

  2. DiEtta says:

Allison……A question: When using the “Color Treated” line did you fine that your hair color lasted longer? I use Nick Chavez shampoos and my hair color last a really long time. I am always trying new shampoos. Have a GOOD ? Friday. ??????

    1. DiEtta, yes the color-treated line from StriVectin helps especially when I took the time to use the color protecting spray during the summer. I expect the All Smooth line will be the same in terms of protecting my color since it doesn’t have sulfates. I have heard of Nick Chavez but haven’t tried his products yet. I believe that all shampoos without sulfates should help color stay in somewhat. I try to wash my hair every 4 days to minimize it washing out. Red is tough because along with pastels, it fades the fastest. In the summer when I’m outside in the sun, it fades just about no matter what. This time of year, the red lasts quite well. I find with shampoos and conditioner, it’s so personal. I usually like a decent amount of suds and a little bit of a squeak when I wash out my shampoo, and I like a rich conditioner. I actually like this conditioner from All Smooth slightly more than from the Color-treated line because it seems a little thicker. If you found something that works, stick with it till it doesn’t, right?

  3. I have, and love, their Color Treated line, but since I have naturally curly hair, this frizz line sounds like the perfect line for my unruly tresses!

    1. Thank you, Renu! I guess I’d consider this shampoo low-suds, but oddly the color-treated version that’s also sulfate-free made slightly more suds. There must be an anti-frizz agent than cuts down on the suds.

  5. This sounds perfect for my hair. I wouldn’t use the overnight mask but the others would be terrific.
