Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream “Linen”

A few months ago, I had a chance to try a sample of Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream in “Natural”. The shade was just a little too dark for my fair skin, so I was excited when I was selected  by Brandbacker, a blogger-brand association, to try out and review Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream in “Linen”, the lightest shade. Woo hoo!

If you haven’t yet tried a CC cream, it is a multi-tasking facial skincare product that provides moisturization, priming, sunscreen, and coverage.  So instead of four products — moisturizer, primer, sunscreen and foundation, you can use just one.

In case you’re not familiar with Studio Gear, it is a prestige brand that is best known for its Professional Makeup Brush Collection, very high quality brushes made of hair and hand-tied. They come with a lifetime guarantee. I have a motley collection of makeup brushes, so I intend to checkout Studio Gear’s line. In addition, Studio Gear makes color cosmetics for eyes, cheeks and lips, in a variety of finishes and an array of shades that stay true. The brand also has a complete line of skincare products. So go to their website and get to know the brand!

Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream comes in an attractive black & white tube in a black & white box, very clean and eye-catching!

Here are the product benefits that the company promotes:

  • Prevents fine lines and wrinkles with collagen-building ingredients
  • Restores skin elasticity by promoting moisture retention
  • Brightens and illuminates skin with a non-oily, complete coverage application

Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream has a unique formula that uses micro-encapsulated pigments that last for 72 hours. Now, I would not wear a CC cream for 72 hours without washing my face, but the claim demonstrates just how hydrating the CC cream really is. And it is. I have very dry skin, and it feels so comfortable on my face.

Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream comes in three shades:

  • Linen
  • Natural
  • Wheat.

Now, I have tried two of the three shades! I would say that the line is appropriate for women with light to medium-dark skin tones. Hopefully some day, they’ll introduce a true dark shade for darker skin tones.

For me, the coolest aspect of Studio Gear’s CC Cream is that it’s self-adjusting. The cream comes out of the tube a whitish shade. Within each shade range, the cream adjusts to your skin tone, resulting in a just about perfect match! I love that 🙂 In the second photo below, the CC cream has melted into my skin perfectly so that you can’t see the edges at all. Wow.

If you read my blog from time to time, you may have noticed that I am a big fan of CC cream. Because I have sun damage from years spent at the beach, I have quite a lot of freckles and brown spots that I’m always trying to cover up. You might say my skin is a “worst case scenario” and a challenge for any CC cream. And for Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream, I would say my brown spots provided a real challenge. SG CC Cream provides light to medium coverage, and much of my sun damage shows through. Frankly, I haven’t found any CC creams that truly provide full coverage, but some cover my “worst case scenario” skin a little better. Nevertheless, I think Studio Gear CC Cream gives me a nice natural look that’s great for everyday, and I will continue to use it.

I recommend Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream for women who are looking for light to medium coverage in a lightweight, oil-free formula for a natural look. If you don’t have a lot of sun damage, this is a wonderful CC Cream. It’s easy to apply.  It provides a great match to your own complexion. It is definitely hydrating, providing a dewy effect that’s lightweight and comfortable.

Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream has an SPF of 20. The tube contains 1.1 fl. oz./33 ml. Studio Gear does not test on animals. Studio Gear is sold in stores at Ulta and online on its own website. The regular price is $34, but Studio Gear Cosmetics is offering a 10% discount for readers of my blog on the Studio Gear Cosmetics website!

It can be so hard to get a good match with any foundation. Sorry it didn’t work out for you. I originally tried “Natural” and it was a tad too dark for me. Luckily, Linen was a great match.
