The other night Jeff brought me the new summer catalogue from Uno Alla Volta. I call it my Wish Book because I wish I owned just about every item in it.
I found an amazing, colorful wind chime that I put on the “next time there’s a gift-giving occasion for me” list, lol.
So imagine my surprise when the very next day I received a package from Uno Alla Volta. I eagerly opened it, and inside were two fabulous pieces of jewelry that Uno Alla Volta sent me from their summer catalogue. The Fourth of July is coming up, and both pieces will be perfect for that occasion, though I certainly did not wait till July 4th to wear them. I’ve gotta show them to you.
Lorena’s Murano Red and Sterling Silver Ring
The first is Lorena’s Murano Red and Silver Ring. Many years ago, my friend Mary Kay and I went to Venice as part of a long vacation. The island of Murano, the home of stunning, centuries old artisan-made glass, was our first stop. We also met a couple of handsome young men who worked in the glassworks. They were charming, and they took us out to dinner and showed us around Venice. I have nothing but great memories of Murano!
Back to my new sterling silver ring from artisan, Lorena, who along with her family works on the island of Murano today.
The ring is adjustable, and I’ve never owned an adjustable ring before. So versatile, it can be worn on any finger. Above, I’ve photographed myself wearing it on my ring finger. Below, I’m wearing it higher up on my middle finger.
It’s very comfortable to wear. I had planned to paint my nails red to coordinate with the ring, but I couldn’t wait to do that.
Red is one my favorite colors: I’m an Aries after all. So the bold red Murano glass beads that give the ring its essential character are just perfect for me (though the ring is available in a variety of colors: blue, green, turquoise, pink, gold, and clear glass). The glass beads are handcrafted using the lampwork technique, which means that molten glass is blown and shaped individually with tools and hand movements. Not surprisingly, the shade of red for each ball is ever so slightly different which IMHO enhances the uniqueness of my ring. $48
Hana’s Patriotic Flower Necklace
I think this is the most distinctive piece of jewelry I’ve ever owned. I couldn’t love it more. I have never seen glass married with black wire. I love the flexibility of the wire.
So far, I’ve worn Hanna’s Patriotic Flower Necklace twice, both times with a different navy blue top. Here it is with my scoop neck short sleeve top where it’s against my freckled skin.
I wore the necklace again on Saturday night, over another navy blue top with a higher neckline so the black wire disappeared against the deep navy fabric, and it looked like the flowers were floating on the top. It looked fantastic! Unfortunately, we were in a hurry to meet friends for dinner at a restaurant rather far away so I didn’t get a chance to snap another photo. The necklace made quite a statement!
Made by Hanna from Georgia (in the U.S.), she is inspired by nature and also by Bohemian (as in Middle European) style glassware. After Hanna creates the design, she works with glass artisans in the Czech Republic to bring her vision to life. The workmanship is exquisite.

Everything from Uno Alla Volta is beautiful, I too wish I could own more than half the items they sell. You have me desperately trying not to purchase those wind chimes-they are beautiful but I have so many items I order I am afraid this will push dear husband over the edge, lol!
