Summer Ready Vitamin D Promoting Sunscreen SPF 30

All of a sudden, the temperatures in Massachusetts have gone from the 50s and 60s to the 90s. The beaches have been crowded so early in the season. I’ve been spending more time outdoors without wearing long sleeves and long pants. Sunscreen season has arrived early this year.

Fortunately, this year I have lots of body sunscreens to choose from. But there’s one that I keep reaching for because it has the perfect combination of desirable esthetics, great protective ingredients and an extra benefit that I had never heard about from a sunscreen before. Summer Ready Vitamin D Promoting Sunscreen SPF 30.

Summer Ready Vitamin D Promoting Sunscreen is the first sunscreen in the US that uses patented technology that permits the passage of light that skin uses naturally to make vitamin D without compromising sun protection. It sounds like a miracle!

I take vitamin D supplements because, like 42% of Americans, I have chronically low levels of that vitamin. Without supplements, we should get 90% of vitamin D from the sun, but most sunscreens block the light from the sun that allows the body to make vitamin D. So it’s usually a win-lose situation: wear sunscreen and have less vitamin D or skip sunscreen and make vitamin D but risk skin cancer and brown spots. Ugh.

I was really intrigued when Summer Ready Vitamin D Promoting Sunscreen SPF 30 came my way. Summer Ready sunscreen allows the rays that make vitamin D through while blocking other harmful UVB rays and UVA rays. In the summer, my doctor tells me that I can cut back the vitamin D supplements to 50K a month rather than 50K a week during the rest of the year. But because I almost always wear sunscreen, I wonder where she thinks that vitamin D during the summer will come from? With Summer Ready Vitamin D Promoting Sunscreen, I have a better chance of increasing my vitamin D levels naturally.

Summer Ready Vitamin D Promoting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is a lightweight, white, lightly moisturizing lotion that goes on clear and is greaseless. It is a chemical sunscreen so that may account for its lightweight, clear look and feel. In fact, I think it has about the best esthetics of any lotion sunscreen for the body that I’ve tried. In addition, it is vegan, reef safe, good for the whole family including kids. It’s dermatologist recommended and can be used by those with sensitive skin. It does not have parabens, oxybenzone, nanoparticles, or PABA in the formula. However, it does have dimethicone in it, so if that ingredient bothers your skin, you should pass on this one. Fortunately, I can use dimethicone and I love the smooth, soft feel it gives my skin.

Summer Ready Vitamin D Promoting Sunscreen SPF 30 comes in a plastic tube containing 4 fl. oz./118 ml. It can be purchased on the Summer Ready website where you can get free shipping and save 10% on your purchase by signing up for emails or on Amazon.
