Sunny Skin Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50

Though autumn is just around the corner in the northern hemisphere, in Australia and the rest of the southern hemisphere, they’re getting ready for spring and summer.

A new-to-me Australian brand, Sunny Skin, sent me two SPF 50 sunscreens to try out for review:

The key ingredients in Super Sun Mineral Face Sunscreen with Antioxidants are:

  • tomato fruit extract: antioxidant, DNA protection & anti-inflammatory properties, inhibits melanin production and contains a naturally glowing carotenoid diffusing redness & enhancing a healthy glow
  • jojoba seed oil: contains many essential fatty acids, powerful antioxidants and vitamins
  • castor oil: hydrates, soothes and detoxifies
  • candelila wax: vegan, plant based wax functions as a barrier protecting ingredient that helps avoid moisture loss

In addition to providing broad spectrum SPF 50+ PA++++ protection, this rich white cream also protects against blue light from electronics. Sunny Skin recommends using it as a base under makeup.

My Experiences Using Sunny Skin Super Sun SPF 50

Super Sun SPF 50 comes in a compact recyclable plastic tube with a built-in squirt dispenser. Just turn the top and the sunscreen comes out of the hole.

The sunscreen itself is, as I wrote above, a rich, white cream. It’s thick, but a little goes a long way. On application, it feels heavy-ish and it definitely gives my skin a “glow”.

me right after application

Frankly, initially, it looks greasy on my face, but after several minutes, it sinks in. Although my skin still has a definite glow like with just about all sunscreens, my skin feels very soft and feels and looks smooth. I haven’t been wearing foundation lately, but I can see how it would make a very good base instead of primer.

The tube contains 1.7 fl. oz./50 ml and the price in USD is $31.45. It also comes in a mini size containing 15 g for $15.72 USD if you want to try it out before committing to a full size.

Because I don’t use bronzer and don’t think bronzers suit my skin tone, I am planning to hold a giveaway for the Glow Filter Bronzing Mineral Face Sunscreen SPF 50 very soon. If you’re interested or you know someone who would be, stay tuned!

  1. Hi, Allison – This stuff sounds amazing! It’s a hard hitter as far as UV and even EMF protection. No wonder, because it’s made in Australia surrounded by sun and surf. Thanks for sharing this important product, including as a giveaway! – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
