Surya Brasil Amazonia Preciosa Clay Mask: Moisturizing and Firming

Masks are so popular these days. Many of us have a variety of masks in our skincare arsenals. Not surprisingly, I have several types of masks that I choose depending on my particular skincare need and my mood.

Recently, I received a natural, organic and vegan clay mask from Surya Brasil: Amazonia Preciosa Clay Mask, Moisturizing and Firming. The mask has been certified by EcoCert. It is also cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny Certified.

Right off the bat, the packaging is so eye-catching! It looks both futuristic and natural-looking.

When I opened the recyclable plastic jar, the clay powder was stored inside in a separate container.

When that inner container is removed, you can use the outer container to mix 1-2 tablespoons of clay powder with water. As water is added, the beige powder turns brown.

Inside the container, there’s also a clear plastic paddle that’s handy to scoop out the powder and stir the mixture.

I apply the mask with my fingers, and I leave it on for about 20 minutes till it dries.

The mask actually becomes quite tight! Today when I had the mask on, the phone rang and I actually had a hard time talking, lol. So while my friend was talking, I rinsed off the mask with lukewarm water. My skin felt super clean and fresh afterwards.

The benefits listed are “moisturizing and firming”, and the Clay Mask is recommended for those with normal and oily skin. To be honest, this was not the right mask for my super dry, mature skin. While the firming is a good thing, the moisturizing aspect of this particular mask was not enough for my desert-dry skin. But I think it would be perfect for someone with combination or oily skin. It’s also a gender-neutral mask, and I think it would make a wonderful gift for men and women.

The jar contains 1.76 oz./50 g. It’s priced at $30 and is sold on the Surya Brasil website.

Here are the ingredients: Kaolin (White Clay), Kaolin (Pink Clay), Acerola Fruit Extract (Malpighia Glabra), Essential Oil of Juniper (Juniperus Virginiana), Lavender (Lavendula Officinalis), Tea Tree (Melaleuca), Thyme (Thymus Vulgaris), Clove (Eugenia Caryophyllus), Preciosa (Aniba Canelilla)

Surya Brasil has a second mask in their collection that I think would be perfect for me: Facial Clay Mask, Emollient and Hydrating. It has aloe leaf juice and other hydrating ingredients. It’s next on my Wish List!
