First, congratulations to Leigh, the winner of the Coui Skincare UV Facial Sunscreen! I believe that Leigh lives in Florida so she’ll get a lot of use out of the sunscreen. Thank you all who entered and don’t give up. I’ve got at least two more giveaways coming up as soon as I can write them up: one is a luxury moisturizer with SPF and the other is an eye shadow palette. On another topic, I decided to take the plunge and spend $7 to get the summer Target Beauty Box. Basically, the box is free, and the $7 pays for the shipping and handling. I passed on the Winter box, but I’m glad I got this one. A stylish small black box with the red Target logo and “beauty box” in white letters arrived in my mailbox about a week ago.
Inside along with pretty red tissue paper, there were 5 products, a mix of full size and deluxe samples.
I received:
- Sinful Colors Professional Nail Polish in Boom Boom, a perfect summer hot pink – full size, $1.99
- Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Gladiolus, an orange red – full size, $7.99
- Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl Eye – full size, $23.99
- Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Leave-In Styling Creme – deluxe sample 2 oz., $10
- Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads – 3 pads, sample $1.20
Total Box Value = $45.17 Woo hoo! I paid $7 😆
Here’s what I thought:
- Sinful Colors Professional Nail Polish in Boom Boom: Love the shade, goes on so easily, lasted 3 days before it started to chip as a result of very hard wear on my part (e.g. gardening for hours, washing dishes with no gloves.)
- Revlon HD Lipstick in Gladiolus: The perfect shade for moi! Sometimes it looks red red, and sometimes orange red, both are pretty! I love this lightweight, lightly hydrating formula.
- Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl Eye: I’ve been using this under my eyes but I haven’t been using it long enough to see if it’ll fade my dark circles. Nevertheless I like the gel cream formula.
- Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Leave-In Styling Creme: I don’t use this type of hair product so it goes in the giveaway pile.
- Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads: Wow, big surprise here! This nail polish remover pad did exactly what it said it would do: removed my Sinful Nail Polish from all 10 nails very easily and left my nails feeling hydrated via “botanical oils”.

The Verdict
I’ve used and really like 4 out of 5 products in the Target Summer Beauty Box, and I’m sure the Fekkai styling creme is wonderful too. The Beauty Box was well worth the $7 I paid for it. I’ll be checking out the next Beauty Box from Target this fall.
Did you get the Target Summer Beauty Box?
I loved this box too. I got a different shade of nail polish and the Fekkai was a sunscreen spray. I like the idea of sunscreen for hair. I did not get the winter one either. I just was not too interested in any of the products.
I would have preferred the Fekkai sunscreen for hair too. In fact, I think I own one that’s about 5 years old that I should probably toss since it’s so old. I’ll bet his sunscreen spray has improved and lightened up since I bought it. This box really was worth the $7. I’ve been using the Olay under eye cream, and I like it. The reviews on it are very positive. It has a brightness and shimmer than have a trompe l’oeil effect. Which shade of polish did you get? Did you like the lipstick? I really like the lightweight formula, and I wear the one I bought myself, Tulip, a lot.
The nail polish shade is SuperNova 1148. It is really pretty.
The lipstick is nice and I did try it. The shade conjures up images of little girls primping for a dance recital. 🙂 Something about this particular shade of red reminds me of that. I know it looks killer on you. You own red lipsticks. Presently I still prefer the formula of Jordana Modern Matte lipsticks over any other brand that I own. I have you to thank for that. I just love them.
I will look up SuperNova. I’m glad you like it. I know you’re not a big red lippie wearer so I was hoping you got a different shade. I do like this one. Your association with girls getting ready for a dance recital is priceless. Now I’ll think of it whenever I wear it!! I like the Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick because it’s lightweight and sort of creamy, but in terms of longevity and pigmentation, it doesn’t hold a candle to Jordana Modern Matte. Maybe Jordana will launch even more colors?!

Mostly yes. I got a different Fekkai hair product than other women, and I got a different polish shade, but you generally know what’s in the box. And for $7 delivered, you can’t lose.

That was basically my thinking too, Kristina. I just needed an affordable treat, and for less than the cost of one Revlon lipstick I got the whole box. Hopefully, the next one will be a good one too 🙂
Ever since these became not 100% free I haven’t been sure whether or not the juice is worth the squeeze, but this review sealed it for me! I love that Fekkai Glossing Cream!
I didn’t realize they had ever been 100% free, so for me just paying for the shipping is a great deal. I passed on the winter box from Target and the recent Walmart boxes haven’t had anything I wanted, but I pounced on this one because I knew I liked Olay skincare as well as the Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick of which I had just bought another shade for $10 at CVS – so this was definitely a bargain.
I got a gold polish and a different hair product, but I’m pleased with it, too. I’m definitely trying to get the next box! The Walmart beauty box has been a nice treat, too.

I think that it’s great publicity for their beauty brands and a wonderful value for their consumers to sell these beauty boxes so inexpensively. A great form of product sampling!

Congratulations to the Winner! I ordered this box too and got the hair spray and a blue nail polish. Overall, I was very happy with everything. Although, last night I put this “eye” cream all over my face and then put Benefit’s It’s Potent on my eyes. lol Darn those bad eyes that can’t read small print. Ha! 🙂
Oh, that sounds like something I would do, Natalie! Your face must have been glowing, lol, as the Olay eye cream gives quite a brightening effect I have found. Was the Fekkai product that you got hair spray or sunscreen spray? I wish I got the hair sunscreen for my poor fading red hair. The blue polish sounds like fun for summer. The Fekkai product was the sunscreen spray. That’s too bad that you didn’t get it since you would use it. I didn’t see myself using it so I gave it to a friend. No problem at all about the giveaway. I fully understand that I’m just taking a fun chance along with everyone else. I’ll be on the look-out for future chances. 🙂
I’m glad your friend will use the hair sunscreen. I do wish I had gotten it in my box instead of the styling cream but no biggie 🙂 Seems like I’ve got a lot of giveaways coming up in addition to the ones I mentioned. Another moisturizer that I haven’t gotten yet. A liquid highlighter and fragrance from Tokyo Milk, I hope from a very cool skincare/cosmetics website. Lots more fun chances to come 🙂

I don’t usually use heavy leave’in styling products because I only wash my hair every 4 days and I’m afraid it’ll weigh it down. Do you have any issues with it?

Well that’s not fair, Erika! Boo. This was the first Target box that I went for, and it was a good one for me. I guess there were difference polish, lipstick shades and different Fekkai hair products, but I was happy with what I got and for $7, yeah. Hopefully, you’ll get in on the autumn box 🙂

It’s the kind of red that you usually wear, Destany, and a wonderful lightweight but rich formula.
What a value. I stopped buying these since I’m so overloaded with things I don’t get enough use out of but this makes it more tempting for the next box they have. Sinful Colors lasts great on me – easily 6 days!

The Sinful shade is so rich looking on. It doesn’t look like a $2 nail polish. And I agree, I have too much stuff but I couldn’t resist because I really like the Revlon Ultra HD lippie formula and the box cost less than the lipstick!!

That is an AMAZING box! The Fekkai is such a long-time fave of mine. I have to keep it out of my roots because it makes them get oily faster (if that’s even possible) but it’s fab on my ends.

Well, Casandra, you just missed another one, a $7 box that was available 2 days ago! I posted about it on my Never Say Die Beauty fan page on Facebook because I heard about it from a friend. I just checked, and of course, it’s sold out 🙁 While I was on the Target website, I searched to see if there was a way to be notified but I couldn’t find anything. I thought maybe if I followed @TargetStyle on Twitter that would work, but there was no posting about the beauty box on their page. I’ll send Target an email and if I get a reply, I’ll let you know!
