Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen SPF 35 & Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder

Though autumn officially starts in a week, the weather has been gorgeous in Massachusetts lately. We’re having a stunning late summer. I’ve been trying to spend as much time as I can outdoors. And I make sure I apply sunscreen all the time.

Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35

A couple of days ago, I reviewed a facial moisturizer that I’m really enjoying, but because it doesn’t have sunscreen in the formula it is imperative that I use a separate facial sunscreen. Tatcha, the luxury skincare brand inspired by the beauty rituals of the geishas in Japan, recently sent me Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35.

It comes in a very pretty Tatcha blue plastic tube so it can be tucked into a purse or bag for use throughout the day. The sunscreen itself looks thick and white, but when I rub it in, it feels lightweight and it disappears completely: no grease, no heaviness at all. It really is “silken”. Absolutely amazing!

The other skincare benefit that Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen provides is that it tightens enlarged pores. Fortunately, my pores aren’t too bad, but this helps hide them almost completely. <3

Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen can be used as a primer, or it can be used as a final step. Love the flexibility.

Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 comes in a 2 oz. tube priced at $68. It also is available in a handy trial size that’s great for tucking in your makeup bag for $13. It is formulated in Japan, and made in the U.S.

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder

In the goody bag that was my gift with purchase at Barney’s, I received a travel size (plastic) jar of Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder.

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder

What is it? It’s a multitasker: cleanser, toner and exfoliator in one! Tatcha describes it as “A water-activated enzyme powder of rice bran, papaya + HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex. Reveals skin’s natural gleam.” I was so excited to try this product that is unlike any other cleanser/exfoliator that I use.

After I removed the lid, there is a plastic insert on the jar with a “trap door”. I slid back the door to reveal a small hole.

Next, I shook out about half a teaspoon of the white powder onto my wet hand. I added a bit more water to create a foam. I massaged it onto my face for about 10-20 seconds and then rinsed. The rice enzyme powder provides gentle exfoliation with no harsh abrasives. It didn’t dry out my sensitive, dry skin. Lovely!

This product comes in different formulations:

I did quite well with the Classic version. I wonder if Indigo for sensitive skin or Polished for dry skin would have made any difference?

The full size jar is 2.1 oz./60 g and is priced at $65. The 0.35  oz./10 g travel size is priced at $15. Made in Japan

Ingredients: Oryza Sativa (rice) Powder, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Potassium Myristate, Cellulose, Water, Papain (papaya Extract), Camellia Sinensis (green Tea) Leaf Extract, Hydrolyzed Conchiolin (pearl) Protein, Oryza Sativa (rice) Bran, Algae Extract, Glycerin, Dextrin, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol
