Tatcha The Rice Polish Gentle

During the Tatcha 20% Off Friends & Family sale about a month ago, I bought another bottle of my favorite foundation primer, The Liquid Silk Canvas, and I also decided to try the travel size cleanser, The Rice Polish Gentle.

A few years ago, I tried the regular version of The Rice Polish, but it was a little too strong for my dry skin. The Rice Polish comes in Classic (regular for normal to combination skin), Deep (oily skin), Calming (sensitive skin), and Gentle (dry and/or mature skin).

The Rice Polish Gentle

The Rice Polish is a non-abrasive exfoliating enzyme cleanser. It is pH neutral, and it contains nourishing Japanese rice bran, papaya enzymes (papain to remove dead skin cells), licorice root extract to prevent dryness or tightness, and Hadasei-3™, a trio of fermented Japanese superfoods – green tea, rice and algae .

All varieties of The Rice Polish is made up of cleansing grains. The Classic Rice Polish has white grains, while the Gentle has indigo (blue/purple) grains.

Mixed with water, the grains emulsify and become a lightweight, foaming lather. I love the Gentle version of The Rice Polish because I feel like it cleans my skin really well, especially if I’m covered with dirt and sweat like I was today after about 6 hours of gardening and weeding. Usually when I’m really dirty, I will use my FOREO, but today I just lathered it up with my hands and rinsed off with a sea sponge. My skin feels deep cleaned without being stripped as well as smooth and “polished”. To me, my skin feels hydrated as well. Love it! Now I wish I bought the full size jar.

The Rice Polish comes in a jar with a flip top that allows the grains to come out into your hand without pouring out. A small amount of Polish goes a long way.

The Rice Polish Gentle comes in two sizes:

  • full size: 60g/2.1 oz., $68
  • mini/travel size: 15 g/0.5 oz, $22.

Non-irritating. Dermatologist tested. Cruelty-free.

Like all Tatcha products, The Rice Polish Gentle is formulated without mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, parabens, urea, DEA, TEA or phthalates.

The Rice Polish varieties are sold on the Tatcha website as well as at Sephora.

    1. Thank you, Angie. Although I don’t actually have sensitive skin, so many people do, so I try to mention those products whenever I can

  2. I am such a fan of their gentle polish, and need to dig my jar out and start using it again! I love their products, but they are definitely expensive. It was wise that you waited to make your purchase during their F&F sale, Allison!
