Now let’s take a closer look at the adorable and handy Your Beauty Tool Kit. I’m a huge fan of polka dots, so that alone would be enough to make me love this set. But I discovered that the items are all high quality and very effective, not just cute.

Polka Dot Nail Scissors
I have a pair of nail scissors I’ve had for years, and after getting this new super cute polka scissors, I realize just how unsharp my old scissors are! These polka dot cuties make trimming my toe nails a breeze.
Polka Dot Slanted Tweezer
There’s one particular brand of tweezers that I always buy, and I thought no others could be as good. I was wrong. The Vintage Cosmetics tweezer is super sharp, and it was a cinch to remove even the tiny hairs that have gone astray on my brows. It made me realize again how I need to sharpen my other tweezers. Glad I’ve got this new pair!

Who can’t use an extra nail file? And the polka dots on both sides make it extra fun to use.
Lash Curler
To be honest, I hadn’t been curling my lashes as often as I used to. I thought both MAC Upward Lash and Benefit Badgal Bang Mascaras did a good job curling my fairly straight lashes. But after using the Vintage Cosmetic Co’s lash curler, I’ve changed my mind. The spring that this lash curler uses to open and close as well as the wide base really do a superior job curling my lashes. In fact, it makes it much easier now to apply my mascara. My outer lashes were rather wayward, going in a different direction from the rest of my lashes, and using this lash curler fixes that. Frankly, I like this lash curler more than my $20+ Shiseido lash curler.
Polka Dot Duo Pencil Sharpener
Who would have thought that a pencil sharpener would be the pièce de la résistance in this beauty tool kit? But it is! The Vintage Cosmetic Company folks thought of everything when they designed this amazing little sharpener. The plastic top that keeps in the shavings till I have time to dump them is attached so the top doesn’t come off in my makeup bag like the one I had been using previously. Plus, there are attached plastic covers over the two holes where you place the two different sized pencils, so any shavings left in there don’t come out either. How cool is that? Finally, there’s a handy dandy little toothpick-like tool clamped inside between the two sharpeners that makes quick work of cleaning the sharpeners, helping to remove the shavings that get stuck in the blades. I couldn’t love this sharpening duo more! It’s definitely the Cadillac of makeup pencil sharpeners!

I love their vintage floral pattern too. When I first got my set, I thought they looked like “play” tools, but I’ve been blown away at the good quality of all the pieces. It’s worth the money, and if there’s a sale at JCP, it becomes a steal 🙂
Adorable! And I really like that sharpener design. My cheapie Essence sharpener is still very sharp, but the lid refuses to stay popped on the top and the little pick always slides out of its holder. Consequently all the pieces just live in a dish in the drawer because I wasn’t paying enough attention once (I was holding the top on- surely I was safe?!? nooooooooooo.) and the pick slid out and went flying, and it took me nearly forever to find it under the bed!

I know The Vintage Cosmetics Co does sell some of the tools separately. Not sure about the pencil sharpener being sold alone, but the whole set is so worth it especially with the JC Penney discount.

I love the Vintage Cosmetics Company brushes, tweezers, and scissors. Haven’t tried any other tools – they have the cutest makeup bags, and I keep meaning to do a haul.
I was amazed at how sturdy, well made and how sharp the Vintage Cosmetics Co scissors and tweezers are. They are the same high quality as other tools that I paid a lot more for. The lash curler and the pencil sharpener duo are the stars of the box, however, because they are so unique – try them some day!

Would this lash curler work on hooded eyes? I have short straight lashes and I’m debatin gbetween this and shiseido.
Alice, I am sorry that I don’t really know how to answer you because I don’t have hooded eyes. I have used both the Vintage Cosmetic Co and the Shiseido lash curlers, and they both work for me. To be honest, I don’t see a lot of difference among any of the lash curlers I’ve used including Tarte, Revlon etc. Right now, I am using one from Kevyn Aucoin. Do lash curlers pinch your skin because of the hood? What I would do is buy any lash curler and make sure you curler your short lashes gently but for a few seconds near the base of the lashes, in the middle of the lashes and then near the tips. And rather quickly, apply your mascara. I hope this helps.
