Theraderm Cool Skin: Takes the Sting Out of Burns ASAP

On Friday night, I was making sausage, peppers and onions with my favorite sausages: rope-style cheese and herb sausage from Bianco & Sons.

Bianco & Sons is a local sausage-making company that we discovered years ago when we would get sausage, pepper and onion sandwiches at the Topsfield Fair. It is sooooo delicious! Local supermarkets carry the brand, and when I was in Boston last week, I noticed that Bianco & Sons opened their first fast food shop in the brand new Hub Hall food court at North Station train station and the TD Boston Garden.

I put the olive oil in the pan to heat up as I did some other tasks in the kitchen. I didn’t realize how hot the oil had gotten when I tossed in the sliced red peppers. The oil was so hot that when the pepper slices hit the oil, some of the peppers as well as the oil shot up into the air right as my hand was tossing the peppers in the pan. Unfortunately, the oil burnt my pinkie finger right at the joint, and some of the red pepper slices that flew up subsequently landed on the floor. I was so busy turning down the heat under the pan, stirring the remaining pepper slices, and cleaning up the ones on the floor that I couldn’t stop and take care of my finger.

My finger immediately turned red and a small blister formed. After I got things in the kitchen under control, I ran my finger under cold water, but I had waited too long to get to it. My finger turned bright red and was unbelievably sore.

Fortunately, I had received a bottle of Cool Skin from Theraderm Clinical Skincare just a few days earlier. Who knew I would need it so soon?

I’ve written about Theraderm facial skincare products on Never Say Die Beauty many times before:  Gentle Action Application Pads, Eternox Peptide Creme, NuPeel Active Enzyme Peel, Fruit Acid Exfoliant, and more . The Theraderm brand was created by plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. James Beckman of Arkansas who created the facial skincare products to help his patients. Fortunately, it is available for all of us now. It’s sold on the Theraderm website.

Theraderm Cool Skin is a liquid that comes in a pump spray bottle. It relieves the pain and blistering that can come with burns, sunburn and wasp stings. It was clinically tested to show its efficacy. But I can tell you now from my own experience that this stuff works, and it works on contact. I sprayed it on my burn from the hot olive oil, and it immediately soothed the burning sensation. Actually, not only did it soothe the burn, I could no longer feel the burning sensation. And the blister that had formed on my skin completely went away.

How does it work? Cool Skin contains lidocaine, the skin analgesic. It can be used up to four times a day, but I found I needed to use it twice on the first day, and once on the second day. After that, I haven’t needed it at all. As I mentioned, my blister disappeared! I am really glad that I have a bottle of Cool Skin in my medicine chest.

Cool Skin comes in a 2 oz. plastic spray bottle and it’s priced at $23. I think it’s well worth it for instant relief from burns, sunburns, bee stings and more. Check out Cool Skin on the Theraderm website.

    1. Yes, you’re right. I am concerned about getting the turkey in and out of the oven without burning myself!

  2. Ouch! I always worry about oil spatter — I have a thing for bacon and it always gets me. Luckily, not enough to cause damage, just make me timid around a pan with oil in it, lol. Glad you found something helpful to heal your burn!

    1. I’ve started making bacon by adding water to the pan just to almost cover the bacon. Not necessary to add any oil. Somehow as the water evaporates, the bacon doesn’t make as much oil in the pan.
