Theraderm NuPeel Natural Enzyme Peel

Some good things did happen in 2020. I discovered Theraderm Clinical Skincare from Therapon Skin Health, started by plastic surgeon, Dr. James Beckwith.  Several of the Theraderm products will make my “Best of 2020 Skincare” when I get around to writing it!

Recently, I was introduced to a new-to-me product from Theraderm: NuPeel Natural Enzyme Peel.

I have given up on abrasive exfoliants especially for my face and neck. They wreak havoc with my semi-sensitive skin, and the results are just not worth it for me.

Over the past several years, I have been using chemical exfoliants or peels instead. Although I had been using The Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid Peel for the past 3 years almost exclusively, lately I have found that there are other affordable alternatives. I disliked the weird sticky feeling on my face and hands when I tried to remove the Drops of Youth Liquid Peel. Fortunately, other peels do not have that sticky sensation during and after removal. I would rather pay slightly more to avoid that.

Therapon sent me their Theraderm NuPeel Natural Enzyme Peel to try out. NuPeel is chock full of fruit enzymes. Papain from the papaya fruit is the natural exfoliant in NuPeel. In addition, NuPeel is packed with a number of botanical extracts: aloe, pineapple, grape seed, green tea leaf, and cucumber. Sounds like it’s almost good enough to eat!

NuPeel’s list of active ingredients includes:

    • Acetyl hexapeptide-8 (Argireline®)
    • Natural botanical enzymes extracted from papaya
    • Plant botanicals
    • Aloe barbadensis leaf extract
    • Hyaluronic acid
    • Retinyl palmitate (Retinol)

It’s non-abrasive, non-irritating, and just plain gentle. It can be used by all skin types including those with sensitive skin and rosacea. It’s also gluten-free.

NuPeel Natural Enzyme Peel leaves my skin smooth and radiant. Removing the surface dead skin cells helps my skincare products work better. It can be used 2-3 times a week.

NuPeel is a clear gel that you squeeze out of the tube. First, I cleanse my skin and make sure it’s completely dry because NuPeel won’t bead up if skin is wet. I apply a thin layer of the gel to my clean, dry face, and then I wait a minute or two. Then I make circles on my skin with my fingers, and NuPeel then begins to bead up into small white beads that are easily washed off with a washcloth, sponge or even just splashes of water. That’s it. The entire process takes less than 5 minutes, but it leaves my skin feeling exceedingly clean but not stripped.

NuPeel can be used on elbows, knees or anywhere you have rough or dry patches.

Although the ingredient list below includes fragrance, the product has the faintest sweet scent if I sniff it. On my skin, I don’t smell any scent.

Ingredients:

Aloe barbadensis leaf extract, Butylene glycol, water, Carbomer, Hyaluronic acid, Glycosaminoglycans, Papain, Extracts of: Carica papaya, Cucumber, Green tea leaf, Grape seed, Comfrey, Chamomile flower, Echinacea angustifolia, Lemon, Pineapple, Retinyl palmitate, Tocopheryl acetate, Ascorbic acid, Panthenol, Acetyl hexapeptide-8, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Diazolidinyl urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Sodium hydroxide, Fragrance

Theraderm NuPeel’s tube contains 2 fl. oz./60 ml and is priced at $30. It can be purchased on the Theraderm website where you can get additional information and check out their other products including an intriguing sounding haircare duo: Broken Hair Repair. I’m glad I discovered this easy to use natural peel from Theraderm!

i really love their products but they are soo expensive for the amount you get. i love the toner.

    1. Do you mean the Fruit Extract Toner? I just used mine up a couple of weeks ago. Did you get the fantastic two-sided cotton pads to go with it? To me, the prices for Theraderm vary widely. The cleanser, cotton pads, toner, this peel, and a couple of the moisturizers are quite affordable (as is the Broken Hair Repair), but the orangey serum that I love and the Peptide (or something like that) Moisturizer are expensive!

  2. Well, I have hear their name, but I have never tried anything from their line! You know how much I love a good peel, and this one sounds well worth trying. I love that it is gentle– so many are not!

    1. I have reviewed several Theraderm skincare products on my blog this past year. The brand is one of my favorites for 2020! I love this gentle peel that doesn’t leave the sticky residue on my fingers and face that another brand that I used previously did. It’s quite perfect!

  3. Ooh I’ve never tried a product like this before! It sounds really interesting though!

    1. Nicole, at-home peels like this (chemical exfoliators) are amazing! Some, like this one, are gentler than others. They make your skin feel so smooth and clean. And Theraderm NuPeel leaves your skin hydrated, too. Good stuff!
