This and That Before Memorial Weekend

I had another post I had planned to run today. But I noticed so many people seemed to be coming home from work early and leaving town today (Thursday) or getting ready to leave town tomorrow, that I changed my mind. Instead of a regular product review, I’ll just ramble for a minute or two and give you an update on a couple of things I’ve recently posted on.

L’OcciBox Spring 2015 Update

When I reviewed the L’OcciBox, I told you I loved the little hat box that it came in but I was a bit lukewarm on the contents of the box especially for the price. Well, since then, I’ve just about used everything in the box. I ate all the champagne gummy bears, and they were unique and deeeelicious. The hand creams are fabulous, and I’m quickly using them up because I like them so much. The two that I tried are both shea butter hand creams – Whipped Hand Cream with 25% shea butter and the other, Dry Hand Cream with Karite 20% shea butter, and they are sooooo hydrating. Next, the rose soap. I adore it. It smells great with a light but natural rose scent. It is very hydrating. It’s one of the best soaps I’ve used in ages. I now feel better about spending 20 bucks on the hat box. L’Occitane makes really high quality skincare products. I won’t hesitate to buy some more.

Soufeel Charm Bracelet

I have really fallen in love with my Soufeel Charm Bracelet. It was very nice of Soufeel to start me off with the bracelet and several charms. But I wanted some more to fill up some more space, I guess! So I used the 5% off code ALLISON5OFF (good till June 8), and I bought a few more charms. I really wanted the red lipstick charm so I got that one, also the Eiffel Tower, a cute pink and white pinwheel candy charm at a very good price, and two more of the stoppers that keep the charms in place. Because I spent a certain amount, they sent me a pair of free freshwater pearl stud earrings that are lovely, and I wear them all the time. I have no fiduciary relationship with Soufeel, so I have nothing to gain from this. But I think their 925 Sterling Silver charms and bracelets are very high quality and available at a very fair price. If you looking for a memorable gift for someone you care about or for yourself and you don’t need to have the Pandora brand name on it, you’ll do well with Soufeel. Just my two cents. Here’s my bracelet now:

Coming Up

I’ve got a bunch of fun things coming up over the next few weeks including a couple of giveaways from prestige brands. The fabulous skincare brand, Strivectin, sent me an extra product that I plan to give away. And yesterday, I received some gorgeous new makeup and nail lacquer from the luxe brand, butterLONDON, that has been adding makeup to its incredible polish line. They sent an extra set for me to giveaway as well. Yay! I just have to write them both up and on we’ll go from there. So stay tuned!

The Weekend

Our friends, Sue and Jim, invited us to join them in going to a Red Sox game against the LA Angels this weekend at historic Fenway Park. And even though we’re sitting in the bleachers, I’m beyond excited! While I’m an art and opera lover, I spend much more time watching sports, especially baseball. The Red Sox may not have come out of the gate this spring looking as good as we hoped they would, but I’m still a fan. It’ll be great.

Also, my former boss at the first NY ad agency I worked for – Young & Rubicam, is now retired and living in Iowa. He and his wife discovered morels, the fabulous and rare mushrooms, growing in the woods near his home. He generously offered to send me some, and they are arriving on Saturday. I’m psyched, and I’m planning to make chicken with cognac sauce and morels. Then the next night, we’ll have hot dogs on the grill. From the sublime to the ridiculous, but I love ’em both 🙂

So what’s on your agenda?? Hope you have a wonderful weekend either with some fun plans or just taking it easy.

My Mother bought a smoker so Saturday Brian is going to set that up while I prep the food for Sunday’s get together. I know the main attraction will be the smoked ribs that’s for sure! Have a great weekend Allison. Enjoy the game and morels! We had a neighbor offer us some but Brian was too chicken to accept them. He is always too paranoid that the wrong type of mushrooms were picked. Needless to say I was bummed that I missed out.

    1. How lucky that you’ll have a smoker at your disposal, Laura! Jeff would be jealous ‘coz he loves to smoke foods, especially ribs and salmon…and I love to eat them. That’s too bad that your husband backed out of getting the morels. They are so distinctive-looking, I’m hoping that it would be impossible to mistake them for something else that’s poisonous. Also, I think my friends must have eaten the first batch by now! Fingers crossed ‘coz I already had food poisoning from a Whole Foods Chicken sausage this week. Enjoy the long weekend and hope you’re feeling better 🙂

  2. Sounds like a fun weekend!

I’m headed to the 24 hour Disney World event and then I have a feeling I’ll be spending the rest of the weekend taking it easy lol.

    1. Oh, wow, Leigh, I’m not familiar with the 24 hour Disney World event, but it sounds like you’re going to have a great time. Hopefully, you’ll post about it next week. Are you getting anything from Too Faced this weekend? Wish I could.
