Thrive Causemetics Sheer Strength Hydrating Lip Tint

The other day, I noticed that a childhood friend changed her Facebook cover picture. It’s been several years since I’ve seen her, but she looks terrific. In her photo, she was dressed for cross-country skiing, and I was a little surprised that she was wearing bright red lipstick. She looks great in red lipstick, but after being a suburbanite for so long now, I was surprised to see red lipstick with sports attire.

When I lived in New York City, I wore either coral or red lipstick much of the time. Since moving to the woods of Massachusetts, I pretty much take out my red lipsticks only for special occasions. However, I haven’t given up sheer red or reddish lip tints for everyday wear.

Thrive Causemetics, (the parent brand of my new skincare crush Bigger Than Beauty) and the brand that gives back to the community, sent me several of their makeup products to try.

I had planned to review them all tonight, but the day got away from me, and I don’t want to miss the 7th game of the NLCS.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been enjoying wearing lightweight Thrive Sheer Strength Hydrating Lip Tint in Rowan, the reddish-brownish shade that Thrive describes as “Deep Berry”. Like all of the Thrive makeup I’ve tried so far, it’s a real winner. Often I have tried other brands of lip tint or colored lip balm that develop a graininess within the bullet that makes wearing it feel scratchy and uncomfortable. I haven’t figured out what the ingredient is that causes the graininess, but it’s off-putting, for sure. Conversely, Thrive Hydrating Lip Tint is as smooth as silk!

Rowan is a perfect shade for me for everyday. There’s just enough red in it so that my lips don’t look too brown (brown lips although popular in the ’90s and resurfacing now for a moment looks awful on me). On my somewhat colorless natural lips, Rowan is a MLBB shade. It makes my lips look like they have natural color – perfect for grocery shopping, walking in the woods, whatever.

Hydrating Lip Tint has a collection of ingredients that Thrive calls “24-Hour Moisture Lock”:

  • botanical oil blend: olive fruit, jojoba, coconut and pomegranate seed oils
  • natural butters: mango and shea butters
  • rosemary leaf extract for calming and skin softening
  • sodium hyaluronate to hold in hydration
  • emollient sunflower seed extract

One of the “Pro Tips” on the Thrive website for Hydrating Lip Tint is to apply Lip Tint over Bigger Than Beauty Skincare Pout Hero Liquid Lip Balm (reviewed here) that I received as well! Since I just noticed it, I will try it next. But to be honest, Hydrating Lip Tint is absolutely lovely on its own.

Thrive Sheer Strength Hydrating Lip Tint comes in 5 shades:

  • Rowan: Deep Berry
  • Kara: Muted Rose
  • Neeli: Peach Coral
  • Anna: Cherry Red
  • Melissa: Warm Sienna
  • Myong: Clear Shimmer

Although Lip Tint color is buildable, I usually just give it a couple of swipes. On me, it doesn’t last all day, but the moisture actually does last for a long time. My lips feel hydrated for about 6 hours. Nevertheless, I usually carry Rowan with me and reapply throughout the day if I need more color on my lips.

Thrive has a great humanitarian aspect to it. They often have specials and that’s when I buy their products. This tinted balm looks great.

    1. Me, too, Marcia. Sales from Thrive are the best. They are advertising both minis and full size duos of their mascaras now, and the minis especially will make great stocking stuffers and small holiday gifts!
