Trying HIGHR for National Lipstick Day!

Lipstick truly is the makeup item that always makes me feel better. Though I am occasionally disappointed, I still like trying out new lipsticks and new lipstick brands.

HIGHR’S MISSION & WAY OF OPERATING

As usual, I was attracted by an ad I saw on Facebook for a clean beauty brand of lipstick, made in California, that was new to me. HIGHR seems to have a “higher calling”. Their mission is “To convert 1 million makeup users to cleaner, greener HIGHR lip products.” The brand is vegan, organic, plant-based, CO2 neutral, and the company is a certified B corporation (a company that engages in positive social and environmental impact that is proven with regard to their employees, products and ingredient, packaging, and the community).

HIGHR focuses on lip products because it is the makeup product that is often ingested, intentionally or unintentionally. Here’s what they say about their high-pigment lip formulas:

Our formulation process starts by creating a base formula with organic, bioavailable plant butters and oils.  We then blend our organic base formulas with plant-derived emollients and actives to safely treat the skin with every wear.

In fact, HIGHR lists all of their ingredients and their origins, usage and certifications. Interesting. Frankly, it was their commitment to superior ingredients that truly attracted me. I often find lipsticks, especially long-wearing/highly pigmented lipsticks, to be drying. I hoped that HIGHR would be different for me.

Their environmental imprint is just as impressive. Again, I will give you their words rather than summarizing:

“…Buying one HIGHR Lipstick saves a total of 5.8 lbs of carbon dioxide compared to standard lipstick.  We’ve reduced our carbon footprint by formulating HIGHR Lipstick with 100% clean solar energy.  We then offset all operational CO2 to be 100% carbon neutral by actively tracking all daily operational carbon with Native Energy.  We record all freight, employee air, train and car travel, facilities, accommodations, conferences, tube manufacturing, and warehousing to offset all carbon used.  To date we have saved and offset a total of 55.1 metric tons of CO2.  These funds are supporting the expansion of Gold Standard renewable energy initiatives in the United States.

In terms of formulating, we believe that liquid plastic and silicone have no place near your mouth. We go beyond any governmental regulation and ban Polyethylene, Polybutene, and all PEG chemicals from our lip products. We do not use any form of silicone in any of our products.

We use metal over plastic wherever we can, and are actively working on eco-innovation for upcoming products.

We use recycled and biodegradable paperboards.  HIGHR fulfilment is also biodegradable, including adhesives.  All boxes are printed with vegetable and water inks.”

Although HIGHR’s lipsticks are pricey, knowing what they go through to make a superior product makes them worthwhile.

HIGHR’S PROMOTION FOR NATIONAL LIPSTICK DAY

I was wondering if HIGHR would come out with a promotion for summer and maybe also National Lipstick Day to spread the word about their brand and mission. Fortunately, they did. Their lipsticks are still  20% off of the usual price of $32 with the code SUMMER! That was enough for me to take a chance on a new lipstick. BTW, they also have free shipping.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH HIGHR LIPSTICK

There are 6 shades of their luxury lipstick, and I chose their most popular neutral, “my lips but better” shade, Blue Jeans. Blue Jeans is described as a “pinky nude”, but the nude makes the “pinkness” look more peachy to me.

It was a good choice for me.

HIGHR lipstick is very long-wearing, and the company promises 6 hours of wear. If I don’t eat oily food, it does last me a long time, I would say that HIGHR’s 6 hour promise is not an exaggeration.

It feels very lightweight but gives me and my dry lips enough hydration that it isn’t drying at all. I’m so pleased that I can wear it comfortably for hours.

Oh, and I must must must mention the fact that the attractive, champagne metal packaging contains a small mirror to make application so easy. I am so happy not to have to hunt for a mirror especially when I’m in public and need to freshen my look.

Since HIGHR’s sale is still ongoing, I am strongly considering picking up another shade, perhaps not an everyday shade like Blue Jeans. Most likely a red or berry shade.

If you are considering looking for a new lipstick or you wish to switch to a safer lipstick with a conscience, consider HIGHR long-lasting, luxury lipstick.

I see ads for this all the time on Facebook and wondered about the brand. Their shades are too dark for me but this looks so nice and hydrating. It’s always great to find a new lipstick.

    1. I know you prefer light shades of lipstick. In fact, I was thinking of you when I saw City Lips Pink Nude. If I hadn’t had to use it for swatching, I would send it to you. But you are right, HIGHR Lipsticks at this point aren’t your shades. Hopefully, they will launch some pale shades one of these days.
