Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale Spring 2019 Starts on Sunday

I could have sworn that Ulta Beauty’s Spring 21 Days of Beauty always started in April. Am I wrong about that?

Well whatever, this year’s 21 Days starts on Sunday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day and runs for three weeks through Saturday, April 6. During 21 Days of Beauty, each day there are two or three makeup, skincare products or beauty tools on sale everyday for up to 50% off, in fact most are 50% off. In the photos of the circular that I have posted, Ulta only shows the beauty steals that are being sold in-store. If you go onto the Ulta website, you will see other online-only products. This is different from what they’ve done in the past where the Ulta circular shows you all of the sale products. BTW, I noticed online that Diamond & Platinum members get free delivery on Beauty Steals. I’m happy about that because my Ulta doesn’t sell MAC in-store, and I do want to pick up a Paint Pot.

Since I started subscribing to Ipsy’s Glam Bag Plus where I get 5 or sometimes 6 full size products every month, I don’t need anything really. So I am hoping that I can restrain myself.

I think last fall I complained that Ulta’s 21 Days had a lot of repeat products. After a quick glance at this spring’s sale, I see quite a few iconic oldies but goodies like:

  • Urban Decay’s Primer Potion
  • Tarte Lights, Camera Lashes Mascara
  • IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara
  • Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion
  • Smashbox Photofinish Primer
  • Exuviance Performance Peel AP
  • MAC Prep + Prime
  • Benefit Gimme Brow
  • BareMinerals Mineral Veil
  • IT for Ulta Brushes
  • ABH Brow Wiz
  • Buxom Lip Plumping Cream.

Nevertheless, this time there are products from Lime Crime, Dose of Colors, Ofra, CoverFX etc. So nice to see some new faces!

Here’s the calendar to help with your strategizing:

I think it’s a very good lineup: a mix of iconic products and quite a few eyeshadow palettes and lippies. Do you see anything that you might pick up during the sale?

I have never tried Lime Crime, and I have heard great things about CoverFX Setting Powder (though I don’t use setting powder very often). Also, I know I have an ABH Brow Wiz somewhere, but if I can’t find it, I may pick one up on sale. Also, I love the MAC Paint Pot in the shade Painterly. My Paint Pot is at least 2 years old and I have a lot left even though I use it all the time. Wondering if I should get a new one?

Good Morning Allison. I just found out last night that 21 DOB is upon us so I’m really happy to see your blog about it today. I’ve promised myself no more eye palettes unless I see one with a color I don’t already have and absolutely need 😉 . SInce I can only afford maybe 2 items I’m looking at skincare. I am eyeing the Exuviance age reverse eye contour or the Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Recovery. I searched your blog for the Exuviance and I didn’t find the eye cream but I did find it’s a brand you like and seems effective , any thoughts? I can’t find any Dermalogica reviews from any trusted bloggers so any advice on this dynamic skin recovery would be welcome. Excitingly enough I just received my very first influenster box!!! It just so happens to be the Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon, a nighttime treatment/mask. I just received it yesterday so I don’t know how ell it works and I’m really looking for a great eye cream right now so……ACK…..decisions,lol. Have a great day, can’t wait to see what you haul in from the sale. xo

    1. Great to hear from you, Laura! You are wise to limit your palette purchases. I have waaaaaay too many now. It’s silly. I do like Exuviance skincare products, but I have not tried this one. In fact, I would be a good candidate for it! I have so much skincare to test, but this one does seem to tick all the boxes. I read a lot of reviews and went to a lot of websites to see what they say about it. “This product cannot be used by people with sensitive or rosacea-prone skin. It is best suited to the mature, sun-damaged, dehydrated skins.”, according to a Dr on a South African website. A percentage of women who reviewed it had eye sensitivity or skin sensitivity to it, but the S. African doctor said that usage of this product should be built up over time rather than starting immediately with twice a day use. The Maltobionic acid sound like an excellent ingredient: a step beyond AHA that is not supposed to make skin as sensitive to the sun (though you should avoid sun when using it, e.g. wear a hat or sunscreen for eye area). So avoid it if you have sensitive skin or eyes. Also, the regular price is $79 for 0.5 oz. If you fall in love with it, you’ll be stuck buying an expensive product, but it could be worth it if it works. You got me curious. On your second question, I have very little experience with Dermalogica. The bloggers who I know who use & review Dermalogica most often have the brand as their PR client so I don’t know if I’d read their reviews for the final word. But the brand has a good reputation. On Makeup Alley, the version of the product with SPF 30 gets a rating of 3.4 out of 5. Some report it has a scent that they didn’t like. I may buy a new MAC Painterly Paint Pot because, though I still have q lot left, it’s more than 2 years old so if I can score free shipping, I’ll buy another one. Now I’m thinking about that Exuviance Age Reverse Contour Eye since it’s good for skin about the crease!! LMK what you decide to do!

They DO have online-only deals, but it looks like they haven’t printed them in the circular this round. https://www.ulta.com/21days/ shows both in-store and online offers and the product photos are different even- it looks like the extra items shown that aren’t in the circular are the web deals. Some days have one and some have like four! I also noticed that among those there are three that are listed as diamond/platinum member-only, one from Benefit, one from MAC, and one from Clinique.

I’m not usually a big Ulta shopper but there are a couple things that have caught my eye here, so we’ll see if I end up making a purchase. No, scratch that, the only things I want are on Sundays when I’m at work and can’t go pick it up. Since I don’t want to pay shipping for a $10 eyeshadow, and I don’t need 5 (well I don’t really NEED one but I could justify it. not 5 though) to qualify for free shipping then that’s a bit of a non-starter. Money saved. LOL

    1. Thank you so much, Rachel, for the sleuthing about the details of the sale. I should have gone online first to check it out. Now I better go back and make some changes like sending people to the website! I feel the same way you do – if I can’t get to the store, I’m not making a purchase because I don’t want to have to spend more to get the free shipping. Not worth it. I wanted to get a replacement MAC Painterly Paint Pot, but they don’t carry MAC at my local Ulta. I may go in to the store and ask them for a code for free shipping, and usually they give it to me. I am guessing the products you might want are actually at your Ulta so that wouldn’t work, boo.

      1. rach says:

I can’t believe they wouldn’t put something like “Be sure to visit our website for exclusive online deals!” on the flyer. That just seems strange. If I hadn’t already been looking at the online details I never would have noticed that the circular was different.
Yeah I don’t think my Ulta carries MAC either. But I know they have the UD eyeshadow I want. And I don’t think our store would hand out a free ship code even if you begged them from your knees and offered your firstborn child. I usually buy my MAC direct from their own site, or if I’m over in Columbus there’s a counter at Nordies where the SAs are usually pretty helpful.

        1. I agree, Rachel. If you hadn’t pointed it out to me that the Ulta 21 Days website was different from the circular, I wouldn’t have known! I’m sorry that you’ll miss out on the UD shadow. Is Ulta far from where you live or work? On Sundays, it’s open from 11am-6pm – probably not open long enough for you to get there after work :(, cry

  3. I could use another ABH Brow Wiz – love that one!

  4. Kathryne says:

Intrigued with Dose of Colors since I don’t own anything from that brand

  5. I was just looking at this flier and I’m stoked about the minis sale so I can get some of my favs for traveling!

  6. I have a few things on my list but not many.

  7. Kristina says:

I don’t really need anything either, but maybe I’ll pick up a paint pot, since I don’t have any MAC products!

    1. I love MAC Painterly. It’s such a great base or everyday shadow!

  8. Oh how I miss Ulta! I know they ship to Canada but I miss the convenience of running into a store or getting things shipped affordably, especially when they’re having these sales! Can you believe they opened a store in NYC just after I left?! Wahhhh.
