Before we left for our trip, I headed over to Ulta and Sephora to pick up my birthday gifts and to pick up a few things while I had discounts at both stores.
Ulta Beauty
The April-May-June birthday gift at Ulta is a travel size NARS Orgasm blush. I already have one, so I may give this one away. It’s a nice gift IMO. With my $10 gift from Ulta for my birthday (I’m Platinum at Ulta), I bought a butter LONDON Glazen Blush Gelée in a pretty golden peach, Flicker. I really like the Glazen “Gelee” or mousse formula for eyeshadow, so I thought I’d give the blush a try. Full review coming sooner or later.
Because Ulta won’t let you use two deals, I bought a Vintage Cosmetic Company shower cap in the cute print that they used in the makeup bag I bought last month. I didn’t need anything else at Ulta, so I kind of wasted the 20%. Sad.
Sephora
For my birthday gift at Sephora, I chose the Bite Beauty lip box that contained a travel size Amuse Bouche lipstick in Chai, a deep vampy red-brown in the tube that’s sort of a raisin-mauve shade, a mini-size Matte Cream Lip Crayon in Glace, a mauve shade (the swatch below is a too warm and orangey. Sorry I couldn’t color correct it), and an Agave Lip Mask sample.
Although the two shades look very different in the tubes, on my arm they’re much closer in color than I ever would have expected. It would have been nice if they were two distinctly different colors, IMHO. The other birthday gift choice was a couple of sample size GlamGlow masks.
For the VIB sale at Sephora, I bought a few things:
- Atelier Cologne Vanille Intensée Travel Spray: I got a sample of this super-vanilla fragrance in my Sephora Play bag, and I liked it. This was a good opportunity to buy a travel size.
- Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint, shade Vanilla: I love this mousse-like full coverage, hydrating foundation. I still have no idea why they call it “Skin Tint” because it provides great coverage. Maybe it’s because it doesn’t look heavy in the least. Expensive, but I love it. Bought it during the sale because I will be finishing up the tube I bought during the last sale in November.
- Sephora Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in Always Red: I’m one of those people who actually buys full size versions of the stuff I get in my subscription bags! I bought a full size of the beautiful creamy Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red that I got in my Play bag in December. Love this shade!
- Sephora Collection #Lipstories Lipstick in Deep Water Bay: This new lipstick line in fanciful cardboard decorated tubes got an A rating from Temptalia, so I wanted to try it. I was in such a hurry when I shopped for this because the store manager was waiting on me. So I ended up just grabbing a random red without really understanding that #Lipstories come in three finishes: matte, metallic and satin. Somehow, an angel must have been guiding me as I chose a shade because I chose Deep Water Bay, a cream finish. Yay. This lipstick goes on like a dream with full coverage in one swipe. It’s as light as a feather, and I can’t even feel it on my lips. Definitely check out this new line of lipsticks from Sephora.
- Benefit Badgal Bang! Mascara, travel size: I reviewed this great purchase yesterday. So happy I bought this stuff! Makes all my lashes so long with as much volume as I want.
- belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb: I received a sample of belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb in my Sephora Play bag a month ago, and I loved it so much, I bought a full size. You know I love gel-creams, and this is a good one.
So, during the Sephora sale event, I bought mostly replacement items and a couple of new products that I had wanted to try. What did you or are you buying during the Sephora sale?
I absolutely adore Bite Beauty Glace and it was one of the lipsticks I finished last year. I was happy to have in back again thanks to Sephora Birthday gift!
